I look at his eyes when he starts to lean forward but just stops. His eyes glance over and someone is talking to him when he suddenly lets go of my jaw and instantly stands up.
I see his eyes glance over again when Jeffrey comes rushing out of the house and stops right in front of us.
“There is a breach by our borders!” Jeffrey says and I know it’s serious by the sight of them.
“You go straight home to my flat and stay there with our son, it’s heavily guarded and you will be safe there!” he says to me and I know it’s probably the safest place to be, but whatever is going on at their pack lands has nothing to do with me.
“I can go over there once we have cleaned this place,” I say and get up on my feet when he takes a grip on my upper arm and looks stern at

“I will be over, just give me a few hours. I can drive myself” I say when Liz comes walking out on the porch.
“I will make sure she gets over there safe, I’ll mind link Chase when we get close,” she says and I hope that’s enough when Darian places his hand on my cheek instead.
“Don’t leave Liz’s side. I will have my men over here right away” he says and holds my gaze with his. I give him a nod when he traces his thumb on my bottom lip before he let go and turns around to walk down my porch fast.

Following him with my eyes when he reaches the car and gets in. The cars turn around and I see them all leave down the road, leaving us standing here.

We will have to sleep inside our room in the flat over the restaurant until this whole house is fixed. I just hope I will feel as safe in this house again after as before, this is our home.
“I’m right behind you, just going to grab some bags on the way!” she says while I walk down the hallway and to my office. The door is opened and I stop to take in all this mess.

I don’t know what it is but the sight in front of me has me questioning this whole thing. Something doesn’t add up!
Taking a few steps inside the room I look at the shelves and everything is pulled out and on the floor, why?
I suddenly get a feeling they were looking for something and not just money or jewelry, but I don’t have anything here.
Pushing the feeling from me for the time being I squat down to the floor.
Grabbing some papers I start to sort them into small piles, hearing Liz walk inside the room she stops beside me.
“I place the plastic bags here!” she says and I look at where she put it before I dive into sorting the papers.
A few hours go by and the papers are sorted in piles but they need to be placed back in the right folder and that will take days.
Liz went out a short moment ago to look how it’s going with the other rooms, we have been here for several hours and we are not done yet.

“Alright,” I say and start to walk after her out of the room. Looking into the living room while we walk by it’s empty inside and I sigh.
“Jeffrey had a man to come and fix the door temporarily, they will have it replaced tomorrow,” she says when we walk out of the house and she closes the door after us.
“Did he handle everything with the police and I never talked to the woman or thanked her for what she did!” I just remembered I never talked to her, just went inside the house and left them.
“He talked to them and has a good connection with the police, you don’t need to worry,” She says when I see everyone get inside their cars and start to drive away. I know Darian got them here but I haven’t even said hello to them.
“That’s good.” I say when we walk down the porch and head over to my car. I’m going to pull myself together tomorrow and get more involved in what’s going on.
“I’ll drive you home before I head over to them, have you heard anything from Chase?” I ask her, I thought Darian was going to send men over here but I’m not complaining to be free from his guards.

Both of us sit in deep thoughts the way home and I’m exhausted from all that has happened, and at the same time, I can’t relax. It feels like someone has pulled the ground from under my feet and I don’t have a stable ground to stand on.
Seeing the lights of the city come into view my mind keeps wandering away with me, and this nagging feeling I’m forgetting something is constantly popping up in my head.
I can’t seem to shake it off me and when we turn down a road a memory flashes by and I instinctively hit the brakes. I have to hold on to the steering wheel hard to prevent myself from hitting my head on it. I hear Liz grunts beside me when the car comes to a screeching halt in the middle of the road.
I try to remember it all, try to place all the puzzle pieces together when my stomach turns at the revelation.
“What’s happening?” I hear her say from a distance while my thoughts are running havoc.
“No, please no” I whisper out and stare right out into the road. My hands start to sweat and I can feel how my heart beats hard in my chest at the memory.
How could I forget? I should have gotten rid of it years ago!
