Alexander’s POV
It was really late and basically dark out and Isabella had just left my study to go back to our room. Isabella had just left my office. I had planned to call the summon my friends immediately after I got the news of Blake finding his mate but stuff came up and I got busy from then till now. It had been nice to have Isabella beside me as I worked. It made work refreshing to say the least. She asked a lot of questions but it didn’t bother me in the slightest. I loved that she wanted to know about what I got up to in this mostly boring office and in the pack generally.
I made sure to let her know that did not totally know everything as I only just became Alpha but that I was positive that in due time I will be as good of an Alpha as my father and his father before him. I just wanted her to know that she wasn‘ t alone and didn’t need to feel intimidated by her new position at all. Whether she got the memo or not, I wasn’t quite sure but she was really bubbly the entire day.
After I managed to persuade her to leave due to the time, I sent a mindlink to Mason and Blake calling them to meet me at my office since I didn’t have much work left to do. Caleb was already here. He had walked in not too long after Isabella left.
“Dude, you’re not really going to make me work overtime, are you? Do you want me to burn out to death?”
I ignored him and continued typing away on my computer.

“Your royal fucking highness!” He kept calling different names as I ignored him until that last one when I finally snapped my head to him and raised my brows. “You’re so freaking
dramatic for no reason. It’s not like you had enough working hours to begin with.”
Caleb grimaced, “Aw, come on man. I also just found out about the mate thingy.”
Mason and Blake came in just then and I glared at them both, especially Blake. They looked questioningly between me and Caleb who was wearing a guilty look on his face for being the one to let the cat out of the bag.
“Why am I the only one who doesn’t deserve to know about your new found mate, Blake?”
Blake seemed to freeze at my question while Mason and Caleb exchanged glances. I heard Caleb tell Mason what I said about working overtime and the dramatic pleading began all over again, two times the intensity from when it was just Caleb.
“Blake didn’t even tell us who she is. I almost don’t believe him.“Mason defended.
Blake rolled his eyes at him before facing me even though his eyes could barely meet mine. “She’s a rogue.” He said, his voice somber.

The room fell silent as everyone stared at him. We were all clearly shocked, mine less obvious than Caleb’s. Even Mason did a better job at keeping his reaction in check. Blake chuckled nervously as he waved his hand, “Y’all don’t need to worry about it, it’s nothing.”
But it wasn’t nothing though. This was his mate we were talking about and this was huge. This was obviously really bothering Blake. Apart from what a delight finding his mate is supposed to be for him personally, Blake’s mate is also meant to be the Beta female of the pack.
“Hey, it doesn’t matter. She may have been a victim of circumstance. Maybe she was born a rogue because her parents are rogues. She can always join our pack. You don’t have to be born into a pack to be a member, there are other ways. I’ll take care of it, don’t you worry.”
Blake squeezed his eyes shut as I spoke and when he opened them at my final words, he shook his head, looking even more forlorn than before, “She cannot join our pack.” He said with a note of finality that confused me.
I raised my eyebrow at that and the other guys looked confused at well. Blake slid down the wall behind him as he sank into a squatting position, his hands covering his face for a second before he removed them, exhaling heavily.
“During the coronation, when we had that small disruption at the ceremony, I went to the border to supervise things. Some rogues had infiltrated the border and I went to fight them off. My…my mate was one of those rogues. Alexander,” He stood up, “my mate is from Antonio’s little pack. She must be one of the ones that escaped that time.”

This time, my eyebrow shot up and Caleb’s mouth dropped while Mason frowned. Blake waved his hands, “Don’t worry, I don’t plan to accept her and acknowledge her as my mate.” He said and although he said it nonchalantly, I could easily tell that those were the hardest words he had ever uttered. He was bracing himself to reject her before anyone told him he had to. It was the bravest thing ever but I won’t let him do it.
I shook my head at him, “You will accept her. You must.”
They all turned to look at me like I was mad but I stood on my word, I know what it feels like to ignore the bond and I don’t want to imagine what its like to reject one’s mate. I don’t want Blake to go through all of that. He should accept her and I know how strong the mate bond is, that alone should persuade her to join our pack.
“This is Antonio’s pack though.” Mason pointed out worriedly. “What if she’s still in league with them?”
“What if? She was part of the rogues who attempted to attack, causing all that ruckus on the day of the coronation.”
Blake sighed, “All valid points I have already thought of. Look, can we drop this?” He said suddenly looking very tired.
“No, we can’t.” I said simply. “I’m not letting you reject your mate bro. It’s worse than it sounds. Accept her and we’ll have her join our pack. She cannot betray her own mate for Antonio. Not when she’s an official member of our pack.”
I could see Blake silently arguing with his own doubts and demons until he pressed his palm to his face, with his other arm folded across his torso and I was afraid I was about to see my best friend cry when Caleb slapped him on his back and he coughed out a laugh. His eyes shone with tears that never

fell and he eventually blinked them away. He said nothing but I could see the relief and hope slowly overcoming the fear all from his face.
“I feel really single.” Caleb suddenly said, breaking the ice and everyone chuckled.
“I’m singler than you though.” Mason said, using a word that I doubted even existed.
“What I really want to know is, when I meet this mate of mine, I’m going to completely lose interest in other women?”
“You wouldn’t even notice they exist.” Blake said with a nonchalant shrug and the rest of us gave each other knowing looks.
“That’s scary to say the least.” Caleb said with a shudder and I raised a brow at him.
“You’re an idiot, you know?” I said.
“You’re too serious, you know?” Caleb rolled his eyes, “All I know is that any mate of mine is going to be fine as hell, so I‘ m good.”
Blake looked at me, “Ignore him, he’ll grow up.” He said and Caleb childishly stuck his tongue out at him and I couldn’t help laughing.
“The moon goddess might just hide your mate from you for five more years, the poor girl, whoever she is.”
When Caleb flipped me off after my comment, I had just about had enough of him and luckily my phone rang just

“Alpha.” The man called breathlessly into the phone and at the way he sounded, my ears immediately perked up in alert. “Alpha, there has been an attack.” He continued, sounding like he might faint from shortness of breath really soon.
I immediately stood to my feet at his words and my my friends noting my reaction were automatically on alert as well.
“What are you saying? Go straight to the point.”
“The Luna’s parent’s home has been attacked.” He wheezed out and I felt the room spin around me. Holding my table for support, I gulped.
“What?”
“The Luna’s parent’s home was attacked, sir.”
“I heard that just right!” I snapped, “Where are they, are alright? Who attacked? Have they been caught?”
“I’m not sure who the attackers were but as for the Luna’s parents, I don’t think they made it. It seems… it seems like they were both killed.”
