Isabella’s POV
Mason did come just as Alexander said that he would. For the third or was it fourth time today, something felt terribly off. Mason was quiet as he approached me and even quieter as he led me back to the party. I mean, it’s not like he didn’t say anything at all, he did but after ‘are you okay?‘ and ‘are you sure?‘ after I answered the first one, that was all. No small jokes, no friendly jabs, nothing. I wanted to ask if something was wrong but realizing that he would have reported to me immediately if he planned to tell me, I just exhaled and let it
- go.
The party was still on, thankfully and nothing seemed off here. If something weird was truly going on, the people I here were definitely oblivious. People were having fun and making both leisurely and valuable conversation with people of different packs. That’s what I should be doing to, right? Today was the ceremony where I became Luna. Was it right to sneak off the way I had planned to do? I frowned, I just officially became the Luna and I’m already doing things wrong. All these people already knew each other, I should be getting well acquainted with them as well. They were allies of our pack, after all.
-Alexander. I called through the mindlink.
His reply was immediate, Yes, Isabella.
I sucked in my lip briefly, Is something wrong? Where are you?

Everything is fine, okay? I’m sorry if I’m worrying you, I’ll be there soon. Just relax and have fun.
I bit my lip as I wondered whether he was assuring me or dismissing me. Or was he assuring me to dismiss me? Sighing, I turned to Mason who was still walking beside me when I saw the Luna…sorry, Alexander’s mom approach us. She had the same proud smile on her face as she looked at me and I was grateful for the way it warmed my heart at this time.
“How are you, dear? I hope you’re not feeling too
overwhelmed, you’ve been up since dawn. Do you want to sit down?”
I mustered a smile that I hoped was convincing enough as I shook my head, “I’m fine.” I said with a small laugh to hopefully make it sound more convincing, “Don’t worry about me.”
She smiled, “If you say so.” Then she looked beside me at Mason and her brow rose, “Where is Alexander? I don’t think I‘ ve seen him in a bit.”
“Oh, he just went to look into something.” Mason said quickly without even blinking and I raised my brow. The Luna said nothing and Mason’s eyes glazed over briefly to show that he was getting a mindlink. “The former Alpha is requesting my presence.” He said, excusing himself from us with a low bow, “I’ll be back as soon as I can.” He said to us generally before linking me.
I’ll be back soon, don’t go anywhere. He said and I just nodded and maybe I would have done as he said…I planned to do as he said, knowing that it was Alexander who asked him to stay by my side but then I felt it again. That dreadful, chilling

feeling of being watched. Grabbing a flute from a passing server, I tried my best to sip it slowly as I gravitated to a random group of guests not checking if Alexander’s mom was following or not. She was after all and she leaned in to whisper to me,
“How do you feel dear? How do you truly feel? On my coronation it felt like I was walking on a cloud with a head filled with candy floss throughout the whole ceremony and at the party as I smiled and greeted people until I went back home and the whole thing dawned on me. I hope that’s not the case with you.”
I stared at her for about five seconds before I blinked. “Thank you for making it dawn on me quicker.” I said and her eyes softened.
“Don’t go making me feel terrible now.”
I chuckled, “Not at all, I just realized that nothing has dawned on me yet and I would hate to have an adrenalin crash much later so thank you.”
She shook her head, “Or maybe nothing would dawn on you because you have already accepted it. I’ll go back to my mate now, link me if you see Alexander, alright?” She said with a smile and I nodded.
She didn’t know what was happening so she didn’t have any reason to stick to my side like glue the way Alexander wanted Mason to. I still had that dreadful feeling but I sipped the champagne even as my eyes hovered around scanning the servers trays for something stronger hoping I was just being paranoid.

Alexander’s mom suggested. I haven’t slept much in a couple of days after all. Mix all that with my possible paranoia towards being at another party and I could get this weird feeling of being watched, right? Or maybe it was just Alexander’s guards! I face palmed and chuckled to myself. Of course that was it, what else could it be? Alexander always has tons of people watching me all the time, look at me scaring myself for no reason. Forfeiting the stronger liquor that I had planned to indulge in, I grabbed another glass of champagne instead and tried to locate Chloe. She had been creating chaos in my head for the past minute and now that I no longer had anything to worry about, I was going to let myself relax, like Alexander said…like I deserved to.
I caught up with Chloe who was receiving compliments from the mate of one of the Beta’s from another pack about her hair and clear skin.
“Chloe’s head is already huge, take care to not make it even bigger.” I said and the lady turned to me with wide eyes before bowing deeply.
“We’ve not met, Luna. My name is Mari, mate of the Beta of the Black Forest pack. Congratulations.” She said with a smile while Chloe just rolled her eyes. She had been glaring at me since I made that comment and I was trying to hold in my laughter.
“Nice to meet you Mari.” I told her with a smile.
“Mari, Luna Bella’s head is even bigger than mine, what do you think?”
Mari’s eyes widened once more abs she looked between the both of us. I slapped Chloe’s arm lightly, “Stop making her

uncomfortable. Don’t mind my best friend, she gets jealous of my normal sized head from time to time.” I said and Mari clasped her hand over her mouth before she burst out laughing. I joined in and Chloe glared at us.
“I hate you both.” She gritted out just as Ryder appeared and slid his arm around her waist.
“What’s going on?” He asked and she leaned into him before pointing straight at Mari and I.
“I’m being bullied.” She declared and I stared at her for a couple of seconds before laughing again.
“Ah, come on Chlo, we were just playing with you. Your head is not that huge.”
This time even Ryder chuckled and she channeled her frustration towards him. He whispered something in her ear and she calmed down before linking me that she was never going to speak to me ever again. I just rolled my eyes, calling her bluff out loud.
“Are you ladies hungry?” Ryder asked thoughtfully. “Let’s go to the snacks table.” He suggested and we silently agreed as he led the way. Mari’s mate came to join us on the way and we all grabbed a pastry each. I went for the cinnamon rolls and it was as lovely as I expected. My eyes wondered to the other side of the table and I saw Caleb indulging in a orange frosting coated cupcake.
I smirked at him and he placed the cupcake down on a serviette. “I’m not going to thank you, if that’s what you’re expecting.” He said childishly and I just laughed, going to grab one and telling the others to try it as well. Caleb rolled his eyes, “Well, just don’t tell Alexander that I was here. I’m

supposed to be taking care of something but I’m here and I’m too young to die.”
“I have lots of reasons to let him kill you though.” I smirked and.he glared at me to which I tsked.
“Glaring at the Luna, Caleb?”
He left grumpily and I chuckled before blinking. Behind where Caleb had been standing, was that Alexander? I mean I saw him clearly for the briefest second and now he was no longer there. This time, it wasn’t an illusion….I mean, it felt like he was actually standing there but the air has been free of Alexander‘ s scent since he left. If it wasn’t Alexander, could it be…no! With shaky hands, I brought my drink to my lips but I couldn’t even drink. My throat felt tight and I felt queasy. I took a shaky step back. Could it really be?
Could Antonio be here?
