Alexander’s POV
It was midnight and the coronation was closer than ever. I was both excited and tense if that was possible and I was glad Isabella was at home having fun with her friend with nothing to worry her. Well, I hope there was nothing worrying her. Although my mother had assured me that she had calmed Isabella down concerning her fears on taking on this new position,I still insisted that she find a way to repeat it whenever she saw her so that she wouldn’t dread it. Last time I spoke to her which was when her best friend, Chloe had just arrived, she had sounded excited as she told me that she was getting ready for a massage. The excitement in her voice had been what I needed to keep me motivated enough as I got busy.
I even sent Blake to check up on them with the pretext of being there to drop off some stuff but they had the maids collect the items from him at the door before shooing him away, complaining that it was a girls‘ night and he could not come in. When I remembered that the usual ‘massage attire‘ was nothing but a towel, I cursed myself for even coming up with that idea. A knock sounded at my door and was pushed open when I called out, ‘Enter‘. The head of the security team came in and I gave orders to double the pack’s patrols. I had a TV displaying every border of the pack right in front of me and I was actively watching it. It was almost painful for me to pull my eyes away from it in fact. I had been there physically, patrolling alongside my men until I got a mindlink from Blake, advising me to stay within the packhouse.

I may be acting paranoid but the fact remains that, I’ve let my guard down before and we all know how that ended. I cannot afford to let that happen again, no matter what.
The pack house was basically a party ground tonight and although I seemed like a pain in the ass to put even people who were off duty to work, I knew that it would all be worth it in the end when my mate ended up being safe and sound and not hurt or kidnapped. I entered the common room quietly, knowing I would put people on their toes if they noticed my presence. It was where the party was holding and I had already stationed guards inside and around. It would be easy for a criminal to hide in a gathering of people like this where people were distracted even if they may not be drunk.
I intended to just look round myself and make sure everything was calm before leaving but that was when I spotted a couple that my eyes immediately locked on. The man seemed to be the calmer of the two while the lady seemed to be more of the party animal. She had downed her glass of what could only be liquor and had gone to get another only to have her mate take it from her and push it aside. She looked displeased and seemed to ask for her drink back. I tuned in their voices to hear them over the music and heard him tell her that she had drank too much already and she was going to have a terrible hangover the next day and miss the coronation. I smiled as I left.It reminded me all too much of Isabella. I hope she doesn’t drink too much tonight and miss her own coronation.
Now that I had her on my mind, I pulled out my phone to leave her a message only to see that she had sent me one a couple of minutes ago and I hadn’t opened it yet. Tapping on it, a chuckle escaped my throat as I read what she sent.
“You could climb in through the balcony. Chloe won’t tell.”

I sent an even wittier reply before slipping my phone back into my pocket.
I went around the pack house one more time before going back to my office to continue monitoring the CCTV only to find Caleb sitting with his legs wide apart and his back comfortably sunken into the seat across my desk. I raised my brows at him, “What are you up to?” I asked because Caleb was always up to something and most of the time, it was something that had tendencies to piss me off or at least something I would not be in support of.
“Relax, Alpha. I’ve come to take you for a relaxing evening.”
I narrowed my eyes, “That sounds all shades of wrong, Caleb.”
He stood up, “You’re right. I just came to take you to your party at Blake’s suite, right now. You’re already pretty late so chop chop!”
“What do you mean my party?” asked him, narrowing my eyes even further and he just sighed heavily, pinching the bridge of his nose like I was exhausting him. I almost laughed. Almost.
Placing his finger on his ear, where I now realized was an earphone, he spoke, “You see, man? I told you he would ask too many questions. You should have just come to get him yourself.”
Trolled my eyes and the child in a grown man’s body stuck put his tongue at me before going back to sit down and wait like a child waiting for his big brother to come and fight for him until Mason arrived. I hate to admit that they were finally able to persuade me to go but in my defense, I stalled for almost an hour before they got lucky. Besides, like they said, the pack

was very secure tonight due to all the measures I had put in place and all the checking and cross–checking. My residence was also armed to the teeth. I doubted Isabella even knew just how many guards I had in front of the door and at all the windows and balconies.
On getting to Blake’s suite, I could tell that this wasn’t just an after thought but something they actually planned out. There were a bunch of food, snacks and drinks on his centre table and he sat in front of the large TV with a game controller in his hands. I couldn’t help but smile when he passed me the other one and I caught it easily. I had easily dedicated all my time to pack duties immediately I took over from my father and I truly couldn’t remember the last time we did something like this. I could also see a bunch of board games as I rolled up my sleeves and unbuttoned my top buttons before sitting on the floor beside Blake. We played one round, the game even better with Mason and Caleb’s side comments. By the end of the first round, we had already gone through one box of pizza
and half of the second.
“This won’t do.” Blake laughed, picking up his phone and lowering the music before telling whoever he had on the line to bring more boxes of pizza as well as some liquor. When he ended the call, Caleb yelled at him to order some women too because we were apparently too boring and he ‘doesn’t do men‘ and Mason instantly slapped him upside his head.
“What? Only one person is not single among us except the rest of you are following his footsteps and keeping your mates a secret. Anyway, I don’t think it’s fair that the rest of us remain celibate because of him.”
Blake almost choked on his drink, “What does celibacy have to do with any of this, you idiot.” He laughed and Caleb just

shrugged like he hadn’t just said something absurd. And if he thought I didn’t hear that subtle jab he made towards me then he had another thing coming, I thought with a smirk.
A couple of maids soon arrived with a bunch of pizza boxes as well as bottles of liquor and shot glasses. I eyes the bottles warily, “Y’all should better drink with care.” I muttered as I grabbed another slice of pizza before moving my queen in the game of chess I was playing against Mason. He was the only one who could beat me in chess, it was why I loved playing with him. I loved the challenge.
Caleb chuckled along with the rest of them and I raised my brow at them while I waited for Mason to play. “We should be telling you that, you know that, right?” Blake said and they laughed again.
“What’s that supposed to mean?” I asked as Caleb slid a shot across to me on the table.
“You’re a fucking lightweight man! What are you talking about?” Mason said and they all roared with laughter.
“The drunk Alpha on the Luna’s coronation would definitely be a wonderful addition to history, though.” Caleb cackled.
I rolled my eyes just as Mason shouted, “Checkmate!”
