Eighty–Six
Isabella’s POV
“Is that my phone?” I called out when I heard the ringtone and one of the maids rushed to bring it to me. The amount of maids I see everyday had thankfully reduced to just three including that adorable one from when I first woke up after my rescue and Lisa from the time Alexander had forced help on me after the attack at the gallery.
“Yes, Luna. It’s Miss Chloe calling.” She said as she
approached and I grinned before collecting the phone from
her.
“LUNA!”
I winced as I pulled the phone away from my ear, “Do you always have to act mad?”
Chloe giggled, “I’m coming over, just wanted to let you know.”
I rolled my eyes, “Like I’m not the one who invited you. You’re sleeping over so just come in the evening, can’t bear to see your face more than I have to.”
She gasped, “Bella!”
Haughed,“I was joking. It’s because I have tons of
arrangements today until evening when I’m much freer. We can do our mani–pedis together then.” I said and she squealed to which I laughed.
Just when I was about to cut the call though, she spoke again,

her voice low and nervous. “Bella?”
“Yes, Chlo…is something wrong?”

“I just…I still feel bad you know? I was the one that persuaded you to come with me to the club that night and you’re the one who got lies being spread about you.”
“Oh come on, Chloe. Why is that bothering you? It’s not like you told them to spread the lies.
“If I hadn’t slapped the guy–”
“Chloe, you slapped him because he deserved it, end of story.” I insisted.
“But–”
“Besides, it’s all over now. Let it go, okay?” I said hoping she’ll drop it. Was she really tormenting herself with this?
“Okay.” She whispered. “See you tonight.”
“Don’t be late!”
“I won’t, love you!”
“Love you too.” I smiled before cutting the call.
Lisa was standing very impatiently beside me and I gave her a ‘what you gonna do about it?‘ look before dropping my phone and collecting the notebook she has been wanting me to look at from her hands. I already knew that what the book contained was basically a list of things I needed to confirm had been put into place before tomorrow’s event which was why my eyes bulged out when I saw the list continuing through several pages.

“W–what does this mean?” I asked Lisa and she gave me an ‘I told you so look‘.
“I told you today was going to be quite hectic Luna.” Lisa said, “It’s why the massage and the mani–pedi have been fixed for last so you can fully relax tonight before tomorrow.
I groaned out loud, “My mates presence would be enough to help me relax but apparently I can’t see him until tomorrow.” I muttered under my breath but Lisa replied anyway.
“Yes, the Alpha and the Luna seeing each other before the coronation would jinx the ceremony.”
I mouthed the words in the sentence along with her because I‘ d heard it only a gazillion times throughout yesterday and this morning. I personally didn’t believe that anything would be jinxed if I saw Alexander today. It sounded like some awfully archaic tradition but I refused to fight it and just accepted it even though it made me grumpy. Apparently, I’m getting too used to Alexander’s company whether I wanted to admit it or
not.
Cake tasting was the first thing on the list and the cake was soon brought in form of tiny squares. There were three cake squares with a thin layer of frosting on top. For some reason, I had indulged Caleb and actually added orange flavored frosting to the list. I kept it for last as I tried the first two, leaving enough gap between each one so I could really savor the flavor. My eyes widened with each burst of flavor and when I tried the orange, I was glad Caleb wasn’t here to witness how much I truly loved it otherwise I’ll never hear the end of jt.
“Can I have more?” I asked as I dropped tiny dish on the stool

Lisa shook her head, “If you want to fit into your dress, indulging in too much sugar would not be advisable. I take it you liked the cake then?” She said proceeding to attempt changing the topic.
“Oh come on Lisa, I couldn’t possibly gain any life altering weight in less than a day.”
“Sorry, Luna but you’re gonna have to wait till tomorrow.” She said with a smile before handing me the pen so I could check ‘cake tasting‘ of the list and in the column for comments, I simply wrote, ‘freakingly, amazingly, wonderful!‘
Okay, maybe that wasn’t so ‘simple‘ but it’s what my taste buds were saying.
There were so many thing to tick off and luckily, a lot of them could be done by making one or two phone calls. For the ones that needed my personal inspection, a message actually had to be sent to Alexander to remain in his office so we don’t accidentally bump into each other. I was just glad he found it as funny as I did.
“You know, if I look out my window right now, I would see you. I’m very tempted to.” He said in the text that he sent to me as I went to my final dress fitting.
“And jinx the coronation?! Please don’t.” I typed back immediately and the next message that popped up was a string of laughing emojis. I slipped the phone back into my purse as we walked into the fitting room. It was all smiles as we walked in and exchanged greetings before she procured a silk cloth and started putting it over my eyes.

“Um, what’s going on?” I asked tentatively.

I could almost hear her smile, “You can’t see the dress until tomorrow, hun. I promise, it’s identical to the beauty you picked out and if there are any alterations to be made, I hope you can trust me to spot them.”
“I’m going to jinx the dress if I see it?”
I heard someone chuckle and with one of my senses cut off, it took me a second to realize that it was Alexander’s mom. It seemed like she just came in. “No, honey, this has nothing to do with jinxing, we just don’t want to take away the important element of awe and surprise when you see yourself in this dress tomorrow. Trust me dear, I’ll make sure the fitting is perfect at the end of this appointment.”
“If you don’t shed at least a tear tomorrow, I’m never making another dress again.” A voice which I decided was the tailor’s spoke and I just had to chuckle.
The dress felt like a cloud. With my sight hindered, the only thing I could do was feel and it was reassuring to find that I was going to be comfortable as well. Apparently, my waist had reduced by about an inch and if my eyes weren’t covered I would have given Lisa a very unimpressed look. If only she had let me have more of that cake…
I ticked off more items from the list after I left there and as the day went on, I found out some very interesting news that had me immediately pulling out my phone and texting Alexander.
“I just heard something.” I sent.
“Heard what?” He sent back in a speed that made me laugh.

“A little birdy told me why the rumors about me suddenly died down.”
“Oh yeah? Why?”
“Because the big bad wolf scared them all away.”
He sent a couple of laughing emojis that had me laughing as well, “I see.”
“But you really didn’t threaten anyone, did you?” I ask seriously.
“I didn’t, don’t worry your pretty head. I just had a meeting with a couple of pack members. That’s all.”
I read the message twice before persuading myself not to ask him what exactly he told them. I just really hoped he didn’t threaten anyone on my behalf. I mean, he did threaten one too many times in the past weeks to hurt anyone he caught talking about it.
When the doorbell rang, I knew it had to be Chloe. The masseuses and the nail tech were here already and were setting up their stuff. The food I ordered were also sitting pretty on the counter top and Chloe was the final piece to kickstart this two–girl night. Sometimes, I imagined what it would be like if I had more friends but I always came up blank. Ryder dropped off Chloe and when he pecked before leaving, I felt relief because I suddenly remembered that the last time I saw Ryder he had said that they had a small fight.
Once Ryder left, Chloe came to give me a tight hug which I wholeheartedly returned before she parted and went to connect her phone to the speaker. “Let’s get this party started, shall we?!”

gave her a look, “It’s a spa date slash sleepover, Chlo.”
“I know, I was going to play calm, relaxing music she defended and I chuckled.
