Isabella’s POV
I didn’t return to the ballroom after that. How could I? I angrily burst out of the pack house only to realize that I hadn’t come here with my car. My dad had driven me here and I had told him I would just take a cab back home. Although he had insisted that I still call him if I needed a ride, I couldn’t call my dad to take me to a bar.
Deciding that I didn’t have the time to book a ride and wait for the driver to come and pick me up, I rushed into the street and flagged down the first cab to pull up. I thought I had figured out where I wanted to go when the cab driver asked me where to and I asked myself whether I really wanted a small, calm bar with nice decor where I would have no choice. but to feel sorry for myself or if I wanted to completely let go.
To reflect on what my life must come to and accept it. To drink until I pass out and they’d have to use my limp finger to unlock my phone so they could call someone to come take me home. So it didn’t matter that I – had sworn not to go back there. All that didn’t matter anymore.
I leaned back in my seat. “Crown.”
Hopping down from the car, I paid the driver before moving to the front. There was no line today as most people were at the packhouse for the ball. I knew I wasn’t dressed for the occasion and it was obvious how out of place I looked with how everyone was openly staring at me. Luckily I had long gained immunity to the discomfort that usually comes with being stared at.
I had barely flashed my VIP card at the bouncer manning the door to the stairs leading to the VIP room when he pulled open the door. Feeling very generous, I pulled out two crisp hundred–dollar notes from my purse and

slapped them on his chest before going right ahead.
Look at me, I’m hardly Luna material anyway. I mean, what Luna plans to drink until she drops?

I giggled, Join the pity party, my love. I sang to my wolf as I made my way straight to the bar. I was already getting into the vibe of the club. The music was loud and deafening and while the room itself was dark, the disco lights were bright enough to blind.
“I want to get awfully wasted tonight.” I told the bartender. “Mix me your best recommendation. Don’t spare me
“I got you.” He grinned and got to work. “I’m sorry but I just have to say that that dress is amazing on you. Take care not to ruin it on your mission to get awfully wasted tonight.” He said as he placed a line of shots in front of me, “I can guarantee total blackout with these guys.”
I smirked, unable to help the warmth in my chest at someone acknowledging the effort I put in to look good tonight even if it was some random guy at the club that was mixing me a drink.
“You think I look good?” I couldn’t help but ask.
He looked at me like he could not believe that I was asking. “Are you kidding? You look like a fucking goddess.” He said and I could see the pure honesty in his eyes. “What are you even doing talking to mere mortals like me?” He said as I downed my first shot.
I snorted a laugh at his words and had to pause because, at that same time, the burn from the liquor spread across my chest. I tilted my head. That was one powerful shot.
“Too strong?” The bartender asked in concern.

“Never,” I whispered before grabbing two shots and downing them in succession of each other.
“Woah, slow down.” He all but yelled but I wasn’t even listening.
“Thank you.” I giggled, “This was exactly what I needed.”
The guy looked at me warily as I went for another shot. “I may be wrong but just in case it is what I think it is, whoever hurt you is a real dick.” He said before going to grab a broom to sweep up something behind the
counter.
My head was already spinning after four shots and at the fifth one, I felt like I could see into another dimension which is why when I saw Alexander walk in, I thought it was an illusion. Except, it wasn’t just an image.
He walked in, sighted me, and took a seat somewhere as he continued to just watch. Perhaps that was why I thought it was an illusion. Apart from the fact that the ground felt higher and people’s bodies were looking weird, the Alexander I know would not just sit still and watch me giggle at the bartender when I was clearly drunk and especially when we just had a fight.
He would want to act possessive even though he was going to dump me anyway. He was going to come to me and drag me out if he had to.
Deciding to ignore him and give him something worth watching, I went to the dance floor and let the alcohol in my system lead. I was the only one in the center for less than a minute before two guys suddenly joined in. That was when I realized that no matter how much I wanted to get at Alexander, I would not be comfortable with these guys touching me and so I took control of the situation.
Dancing as provocatively as I could while still having fun and keeping my boundaries with the men around me.

“Let me get you a drink,” one of the guys said before disappearing and when he came back again he had a beer in his hand. I didn’t really fancy beer but I decided that I needed a drink. I was beginning to lose my breath so I accepted the drink and wrinkled my face at the bitter taste as I drank.
“You’re beautiful.” The man who gave me the drink said and I wondered if he was trying to start something. Unfortunately for him, if I was to flirt back, it was only going to be to piss off a certain Alpha who had his eyes on me and besides, I was getting really tired and maybe a tad bit uncomfortable. This dress definitely wasn’t for clubbing and it was starting to annoy me how Alexander was just sitting there watching me silently.
You mean it’s starting to make you uncomfortable.
Whatever. It’s just too unpredictable. Like he has something up his sleeve but I’m too drunk to wonder what.
Why was he even here, I wondered. Shouldn’t he be at the ball? He was the star of the day, he couldn’t just leave. Except…no. He definitely wasn’t here to do anything that he would only do if I was dreaming. I took another long gulp of the bitter liquid, unable to help the way I squeeze my face as I do so and how I purse my lips after words.
“Is it that good?” The guy beside me asked with a chuckle.
I eyed him, “Not at all. It actually tastes like shit.”
He threw back his head, “I knew you could never be the beer type. You seem more like fine wine and colorful drinks.”
I just rolled my eyes and looked away, an action I immediately regretted when my head began to pound. I groaned, as my eyes began to feel very heavy. I pouted, wasn’t it too early to blackout? I hadn’t even had my fun yet. I took a step forward only for my legs to buckle.
“Woah.” The guy said catching me, his alcohol–riddled breath fanning my

face and if possible making me even more woozy. He led me to a table and sat me down as I began to feel more and more sleepy.
That was when I realized that should I black out, right now. I didn’t want to be alone with this man. I did not know him and he did not feel safe even in the slightest. I got up again and using the tables, I began to make my way towards where I hoped Alexander still sat.
Despite everything, he would have the decency to take me home safely at least, wouldn’t he? I tuned in to my senses and when I couldn’t catch hist scent, I felt my blood run cold. I tried to make my way to the bartender. He seemed quite safe. Maybe he would agree to take my phone and help me dial Chloe’s number.
I began to pull out my phone but immediately it was out of my purse, someone took it from my hands. Startled, I turned to see Alexander. But something was awfully wrong. I still couldn’t smell him. That was my last thought before my mind went blank and my legs gave out underneath me.
The last thing I heard though was a low, sinister laugh that sent a chill down my spine as my world went black.
