Isabella’s pov.
“Isabella?” I heard my name from a distance but didn’t feel inclined to answer because of how faint and distant it sounded.
“Isabella!” the voice was louder this time and accompanied with a painful smack on my shoulders.
I snapped out of my thoughts abruptly as Sasha’s voice and hands cut through them. “I’m sorry, were you saying something?” I asked. My head snapping to look up at her. If the look on her face was any indication, she definitely was and I had a feeling she had been trying to speak to me for a while but I had been too engrossed in my thoughts to hear her.
“Are you alright? You’ve been spacing out a lot lately.” She asked, a worried look etched on her face.
“Yeah, why wouldn’t I be?”
“Um, maybe because I’ve been trying to get your attention for the last two minutes and you’ve been out of it?” She said like it was clear why she thought I wasn’t in fact alright.
I laughed nervously. I really had to stop zoning out mid conversation. It was becoming worse by the day and everyone was starting to pick up on the fact that something was up.
“Oh, I’m just tired that’s all.” I said quickly.
Sasha gave me a worried look, obviously not buying what I was selling. She dropped some of the hair products o the floor, dragged out

a chair beside me and sat down, facing me.
“Are you sure? You know you can tell me anything right” she reassured me with a concerned look on her face. I wanted in that moment to tell her everything, how much I needed help but I knew I couldn’t, it was way to complicated and messy to explain and it had definitely gone too far to get out of now.
“I am fine, just a little tired, you know hormones and being pregnant, taking it’s toll on me…” I laughed nervously.
“I see.” She said, her gaze dropping down to my stomach.
Instinctively, I placed both hands on the tiny baby bump and she glanced up at me again.
“Have you had anything to eat today?”
“Not really. No.” I answered after a pause, remembering how I had left breakfast this morning without so much as touching my food. Which reminded me, I needed to apologize to Caleb for the way I had spoken to him today, It was a bit much especially since he had nothing to do with anything I was currently going through.
“Well, of course you are tired, jeez. You have nothing in your stomach.”
I gave a sheepish smile and almost immediately felt the effect of my empty stomach kick in, causing my stomach to growl and my head to pound.
She rolled her eyes, looking about ready to scold me.
“Sometimes I want to smack you.” She muttered under her breath, shakingg her head.

“I’ve just not been that hungry.” I tried to defend. It was only half true. How could I think of food when I had pressing matters to fulfill.
“I’ll get Lisa to make you something before dinner.” she said and walked towards the mansion.
We had both been in the garden for over two hours now. Sasha had come over just an hour after Blake and Alexander had left for their meeting, I’d been thinking of different ways to get my hands on the document or at least the key to the drawer while Sasha had been trying to make my hair. She’d washed and conditioned it and was getting ready to start curling when she noticed I wasn’t paying attention to her
stories.
It was around 5pm and Xander was still not back from his meeting.
was getting antsy as Antonio had called two more times.
Ten minutes later, Sasha came back to with a tray of fruits in her hand.
“here,” she placed the fruits on the small bench in front of me and took a seat opposite me “eat.” She glared at me like a mother would her toddler who was becoming picky with food.
“Thank you.” I said, staring down at the fresh strawberries and cream and then cut up watermelon, apples and blueberries on the tray.
“You are welcome but this is only an appetizer, Lisa says dinner will be ready in two hours.”
“You are the best, you know that right?”
“Yes but seriously, you gotta eat to keep up your strength and to promote health growth of the baby.”
“I know, I’m going to try my best now.” I said as a plucked a strawberry

from the tray and pooped into my mouth.
It tasted fresh and sweet better than the ones from the grocery shop.
“I didn’t know we had strawberries.”
“Apparently it came in this morning.
“it’s delicious, join me.” I waved her over.
She responded by scoffing at me “Trust me, you need that more than I do.”
shrugged.
“Alexander is still not back?” I asked Mason an hour later in the dinning hall as he strolled in wearing sweatpants and a t–shirt.
“I don’t think he’ll be back in time for dinner.” Mason said as Lisa and another maid named Marie began to set up for dinner.
“What time do you think he’ll be back?” I asked worried about him, he‘ d said he’d b back late but he’d been gone for at least eight hours now.
“Probably around midnight.” Caleb said as he walked into the room.
“Caleb, hi.” I waved at him, a bit enthusiastically.
“Hello Bella.” He glanced at me with a smirk.
“About this morning…” I rushed to begin to apologize but he waved me off before I could get the words out.
“Water under the bridge.”
“But I still feel guilty…”

“Thank you.”
“you are welcome and your hair looks really nice today.” He said with a wink.
“Thank you, I made it.” Sasha chimed.
Caleb whipped his head towards her.
“You can make hair?”
“Also cut hair.”
“Is there anything you can’t do?” Caleb asked flabbergasted that Sasha had made my hair. It was no secret anymore that Sasha do literally anything.
“Not very much, no.” she grinned.
“Cocky witch.”
Caleb said, rolling his eyes at her.
Sasha only laughed.
“You have to stop calling me Twenty–four seven nonstop!” I hissed at Antonio later that evening. I was fed up with the constant calls that I had no choice but to setup a little meeting in the woods that evening. I had gone with a single guard and I had told him to wait for me somewhere, telling him I needed to pee.
“You are making me look suspicious.”

“And you are wasting my time.” He growled, his eyes boring deep into my mine, his jaw tight. He was no longer all cunning smile now he looked about ready to snap me in two.
“It’s been almost a week, how hard is it to fucking get a document?”
“If you want the document so bad, why don’t you go get it yourself?” I
spat.
I wasl in the air before I knew it, Antonio’s hands wrapped around my throat and my feet dangling in the air.
“Careful Isabella, I’m not privy to ripping out your throat and leaving you for dead to be eaten by the vultures in the woods.” Antonio growled. He looked maniacal as he glared at me.
A shiver ran down my spine.
“let go of me.” I stubbornly tried to pull his hands off my neck but it was no use, I was trapped.
“Maybe I’ve been a little too nice to you, Isabella, given you a taste of choice that’s why you think you have the upper hand.” He snarled. He was looking at me with so much villainous hatred that I thought for a second that he was going to kill me.
Hot tears fell down my cheek as his grip tightened. It was getting harder to breathe and I could feel myself slowly losing consciousness.
“Let me down, please.” I pleaded, knowing well that Antonio would kill me without hesitation if I upset him enough and judging by his action I had. Done so.
To my surprise he did let me down and I fell to the ground with a thud and a sprained wrist.

“Look Isabella, we are friends.” He started as he crouched down to where I sat in pain on the floor, the maniacal look now gone, replaced with a creepy friendly smile.
“We both have a common goal here Isabella, bring me my document and I can give you what you want, I’m sure you miss your parents and want justice for them, I can give you that and so much more.”
“What do you mean by so much more?” I asked, glaring daggers at him.
“There is a lot you don’t know my dear, a lot your husband has been hiding from you, bring me my document and I shall reveal e everything to you, including your Parent’s last words before they died.”
