Isabella’s pov
“Are you listening to me?” Caleb’s voice suddenly cut through my thoughts like a newly sharpened knife cutting butter. I glanced up at him and it was only then I realized he had been saying something.
“Did you say something?” I asked him, a little embarrassed that I had spaced out again. It had been happening a lot lately too, randomly spacing out. It was becoming a problem especially with Alexander and our friends.
It had been three days since the meeting with Antonio and three days since I lied to Alexander about my whereabouts and I was feeling guilty more than ever because I had somehow convinced Alexander that he was the problem.
He had been understanding and sweet even though I had been on edge and a little bit of a nagging, raging wife, snapping at him for the smallest offenses. I was mad at myself for making him feel like he was the problem when I was actually the problem.

“Oh, my bad what were you saying?” I asked, giving all my attention to him, feeling guilty for spacing out on him again.
“I was telling you about Angelina.” Caleb said slowly as if he was speaking to a toddler.
“Who the hell is Angelina?” I asked with furrowed brows.

Bella you’ve been acting weird lately…?”
“Nothing is going on with me Caleb, maybe I don’t want to hear about your sexual encounters, have you thought of that? That maybe you are becoming predictable with all of these and I’m bored of it?” I snapped
Caleb stared at me wide eyed but I didn’t care, the last thing I wanted to do was sit and pretend to listen to another one of his sex escapades, I had bigger things to worry about, like the fact that I was Potentially living with my parent’s killer or on the path to destroy my entire marriage and life.
I stood up from my chair, ignoring Caleb’s confused look and began to walk away. I needed to find a place to think without interruption.
“You are not going to finish breakfast?” Caleb called out but I was already out the dinning hall to give an answer.
I was on my way to the garden to get some air when my phone rang. The caller ID read unknown again and I swallowed, knowing exactly who was calling.
Antonio.
I stared down at the screen, my hands hovering over the answer button until it stopped ringing.
I decided not to pick his call after the second ring, I already knew why he was calling, he’d been calling for three days straight and I had made the mistake of picking up each time only for him to continue threatening me about our deal. I had told him that I was working on it and he had told me to work harder.

days ago, I had gone back to look for it in Alexander’s office but had still come up with nothing. I knew or rather suspected exactly where it was as I had found one of the drawers in Alexander’s desk that was previously opened suddenly locked but I didn’t have anyway to open or prove my suspicion.
I sighed in frustration when my phone rang again and it was still Antonio calling.
“I’ll get it to you soon, now please stop calling me!” I said into to the phone and immediately hung up when he wouldn’t stop calling.
Taking a deep breath I walked back to the mansion and then to Alexander’s office. It was locked but I used my key to open it, I went straight to the drawer and it was still locked.
How important was the document anyway that they had to keep it locked up? Or maybe it wasn’t even in the locked drawer. I was speculating at this point but It was possible that The pine document was in Mason’s office now, it had after all been with him before he’d Returned it that day.
I sighed, confused and tired and annoyed and stressed. I hated all of this, sneaking around behind Alexander’s back, it p was taking a toll on me mentally, I hadn’t been able to sleep in days and it was making me cranky and unbearable to live with. Hell! I hated living with me.
Instinctively, I rubbed my stomach.
“How the hell do I get the key to this drawer?” I said into the silence. I didn’t even know what it looked like, I hadn’t even realized the desk drawers had keys till now.
I searched around the table, hoping that the key was on the desk but came up with nothing.

“Shit!” I groaned out in frustration when I couldn’t find anything resembling a key. If it wasn’t here then where the hell was it?
Just then the door to the office opened abruptly and I jumped at the unexpected interruption.
“Isabella?” Blake called out with furrowed brows as he stepped into the
office.
“What are you doing here?” he asked, staring at the disorganized desk.
“Um, I was just, you know, came to find Xander. What are you doing here?” I flipped the question on him.
“Came to get a document for a meeting.” He said and side stepped me, seeming a little bit in a hurry as he went straight to the locked drawer. He opened it with a small golden key that had a wolf head and took out the document I had been searching for. He checked the content of the pages and nodded, satisfied with whatever he found inside.
“By the way Xander is on his way to a meeting and he won’t be back in a while, so if you want to see him, now is your best chance.” He glanced up at me as he closed the document shut.
“Oh, thank you.”
“You are welcome.” He said and started to walk away, he suddenly stopped and turned to look at me and my stomach twisted. Did he figure out that I was here for the Document already?
“Oh and also Sasha is looking for you, said something about y’all making your hair or something?”
“Yeah, yeah. I’ll call her after I talk to Xander.” I nodded, relieved that I was in the clear and also found my paranoia ridiculous. How in the world would he know why I was here Isabella? I questioned myself.

I followed Blake outside the office and down to see Alexander, I after all had to keep up the façade or risk putting myself in a suspicious position. The last thing I needed was for all eyes to be on me especially when I still hadn’t found out the truth.
We found Alexander outside, about to get into the car.
“Hey baby.” He said with a cheeky grin immediately he noticed me. Blake handed him the document and he nodded as he took the
documents from him.
He glanced up back at me, watching as I walked towards him, he met me halfway and pulled me into a hug
“How are you feeling today?” he asked as he pulled away to look at me. He was referring to last night when I’d been a cranky mess about the maids bringing up the wrong food.
“feeling better.” I said.
“No more crankiness then?”
I shook my head.
“That’s my girl.”
He smiled and kissed my forehead.
“I’ll be back a little late today but when I get back we’ll watch a movie together okay?”
“With popcorn and ice cream?” I asked.
“With popcorn and Ice cream.” He confirmed.

He bent and kissed me on my lips before slipping into the car.
Blake got in beside him and they both left in a hurry.
I went back to the mansion feeling happy that I had finally found where the document was being kept and at the same time feeling upset that it was taken away.
I had to think of a way to get that document but now that it was out of the house, it would be difficult. I wondered briefly if there was a duplicate but shook my head, a document that important didn’t seem like it had a duplicate.
What was I going to do? Even if the document is brought back in, there’s still the problem of opening the drawer except I could get ahold of it before it goes back into drawer. That seemed unlikely and would probably not work.
I needed a plan, a way to get ahold of that key. I had never seen it before but I was positive Alexander would have it in his key holder now that Blake had it. I just needed to figure out a way to get ahold of Alexander’s keys.
