Isabella Pov
Alexander looked dashing in the Maroon colored suit I had chosen for him.
“What took you so long.” I punched his arm as soon as we got to the dance floor.
“Traffic, my dear.” He said simply, staring down at me with an intensity that sent goosebumps down my spine.
“You look stunning Isabella.” He said in a weird way that kind of creeped me out.
“Thank you?” I said still a little too pissed at him.
“What do you think of the party?” I asked, trying to be grateful for the fact that he was here now even though he had not yet apologized for his tardiness.
“Nice,” he said without looking away from me. His eyes bored into mine with fevered intensity that made me uncomfortable for some
reason.
“Just nice?” I asked, glaring up at him. Alexander was one of the people that had seen how hard I had worked to get this party to be a success but all he had to say was ‘nice?‘
“It’s exquisite just like you are.” He said this time, pulling me closer to him a little roughly. He kissed my forehead and proceeded to spin me around. I giggled at his playful action.

I had no ideas why but something felt off about Alexander. Maybe I was just tired or maybe because he was probably tired as well but he was acting odd.
“How did the meeting go?” I asked.
“Great.”
“Will you stop answering in monosyllabic words!” I yelled at him in frustration.
He responded by pulling me closer to him.
“You seem upset, princess. What’s wrong?” he whispered into my ear.
“I’m upset because you are late Xander and you are acting weird.”
He smirked at me. I was about to give him a piece of mined when out of my peripheral vision, I spotted Rhea at the entrance of the hall. She was wearing a black lace gown that stopped at the ankle with a slit that went all the way to her upper thighs.
“What the hell Xander?”
“What?” He asked, confused at my sudden outburst.
“Why the hell is Rhea here?”
“Rhea?” he asked in a tone that suggested he had no idea what I was talking about.
“yes, Rhea.” I said to him with a glare as I gestured towards the
entrance.
He followed my eyes and stared ay Rhea for several moments before turning back to look at me.

“Don’t worry about her. Focus on me.” Alexander said.
“Absolutely not, you told me you had banned from entering the mansion.”
“You have changed have you?”
“What?”
“The Isabella I knew wouldn’t hurt a fly and yet you seem to hate this woman so much you want her out of the pack. I could kill her for you, you know… tear her from limb to limb and mailed each of her body parts to you, if you had chosen me
“What are you talking about Alexander?” I asked, horrified by his words.
“oh come on, don’t tell me you have not figured out yet…”
“Figured out what?”
His eyes bored into mine and my eyes widened in shock as I realized the reason I had felt there was something off about Alexander’s behavior earlier. It wasn’t that there was something wrong with him, it was that the man standing in front of me was not Alexander.
“Antonio?” I whispered, praying and hoping my suspicions were
untrue.
“in the flesh, did you miss me?” the personality he had been hiding behind the mask suddenly jumped out with full force.
“Don’t even think about screaming for help, I’ll murder everyone here.” He whispered into my ears and I stiffened.
“Now come with me.” He tried to pull me away but I couldn’t move.

“Where are we going?” I gritted out, even though I was scared out of my mind. I was shaking and my heart was pounding.
“We are going out for some fresh air, a place we can talk freely.*
I followed Antonio out of the hall, scared out of my mind what he was going to do to me.
“So, did you miss me, because I know I’d.” Antonio asked inside a dimly lit room at the back of the hall.
I scoffed at his words even though I was shaking inside in reality. This was the man who beat, spat and almost killed me when I was held captive by him. The images of him flogging and beating the crap out of me and I whimpered in pain.
“Don’t look at my like that….”
“What do you want Antonio?”
I managed to squeak out, proud that my voice sounded better than I felt.
Antonio smile was feral as he gazed at me.
He placed his hands under my chin and forced me to look at him. It was amazing the resemblance he shared with his brother but both men could not be more different.
“beautiful as always. Too bad you chose my weak brother.”
I bit back the insult I was about to throw at him. I was alone with a -diabolical man and I wasn’t delusional about what he could do.
“Here.” He handed me a white piece of paper.
“w… what’s that?” I asked.

“Something that will change your perspective on things.” He said simply.
I stared at the paper like it could burn me up..
“Take it.” He growled impatiently. My hands moved to their own accord and I snatched the paper from him.
“Good. Have a lovely evening.” Antonio said before slipping out the window to God knows where.
It took a while to gather myself and go back to the party.
“There you are, where have you been?”
“Alexander?” I asked to make sure it was my husband.
he nodded as he eyed me up and down.
He came closer and I flinched.
“still mad I came late? I’m sorry.” He must have seen the distraught look on my face because he rushed to hug me.
“Are you alright?”
“Perfectly fine.” My voice came out squeaky. I knew I should have told Alexander about my encounter with Antonio but I just couldn’t bring myself to let the words out. I felt my eyes sting with unshed tears but I quickly shook the pain away.
I held on to the paper Antonio had slipped me a little tightly.
“Bullshit, you look pale. Tell me what’s wrong.”
“Nothing is wrong Xander. If you were in my shoes and had to wait two hours for your husband to show, I’m sure you’ll be pissed too.” I

snapped at him.
He nodded.
“I’m sorry…
I waved him off as I stared into space.
Great! Not only was I not telling him about Antonio, I was gas lighting
him.
“can you give me a minute honey.” I told Alexander. I didn’t wait for him to respond before I began to walk away. I could feel his eyes on me as I walked down to where Chloe sat watching the show.
“Hi,” Chloe said to me as soon as I got to her table. She eyed me up and down when I didn’t give her an appropriate answer.
I snatched my bag from the chair and hid the piece of paper within a small crack only I knew about.
I couldn’t think about it now. I needed to focus on the party and get through the remainder of it.
A crash made me turn towards the sound and I found Rhea standing close to a waiter who’s tray had crashed to the floor.
I was about to ignore her when she looked up at me with a knowing smirk.
She mouthed to me nice party.
I ignored her. I was feeling a bit dizzy and stressed out not to mention sick, I didn’t have time for her little tricks.
I knew Antonio was probably the reason why I felt like hurting, seeing him again and triggered my flight and fight response, that or the stress

of the party and the music. I needed to take a little break so I started to walk out the party but before I could leave, Rhea intercepted me.
“looking great Luna.” She said with a sarcastic smirk.
“Get out of my way Rhea or so help me God, I’ll focus all the frustration and anger I feel towards you too,”
”
“Aww, what’s the matter? Trouble in paradise already?”
“get out of my way, now!.” I gritted out even though what I really wanted was to punch the shit out of her. Rhea was the least of my problems now
“No.” she said and got in my face.
“Get out of my face Rhea…”
“or what, Skank?”
She said shoving me chest, something told me was drunk.
A sharp sensations spread across my body with that simple action.
I was on the floor before I could process what has happened. I could hear the screams around me and the last person’s face I saw was Alexander before e everything turned a blinding black.
