Hundred and Forty–Two
Alexander’s POV
Isabella pulled away from me and began to walk towards a woman wearing a wolf mask, that I assumed was her friend, Chloe. I wasn’t exactly sure, she was wearing a very conspicuous mask but the baby on her lap made me believe I was right.
I wanted to go to her and make things right. She was upset with me and rightfully so. I had arrived a bit late to the party, a party she had spent a week planning all by herself. I wanted to kick myself in the balls. I didn’t even compliment her work. Of course, she was upset.
I watched as she picked up her purse as soon as she got to her friend’s table and immediately put it back down for some reason. Chloe was saying something to her, a smile playing on her lips. She nodded at what her friends said absentmindedly.
A crash of glasses caught my attention and I glanced over at the direction of the commotion to find a waiter crouched down on the floor. He was trying to pick up the pieces of glass that had just slipped from his hands, there was a pool of liquid on the floor, and just outside the pool was a woman staring down at him and she looked
suspiciously familiar.
“Xander, you are back.” I heard Blake say as he walked towards me. He was wearing a Grey tuxedo and wolf mask that covered most of his face. “Nice.” He said, looking me up and down with an appreciative nod.
“Isabella got that for you?”

“Yeah,” I said with a small chuckle.
“She has a good eye. Mine was picked by Sasha.”
“I can tell,” I said, acknowledging that he looked good.
“So, how was the trip?”
“Good, we’ve got ourselves an alliance with another powerful pack.”
“Nice.” He nodded.
“How did you recognize me?” I asked out of the blue, I had had to take off my mask for the guards to let me in.
Blake chuckled.
“It was easy when you started dancing with Isabella…”
I stared at him blankly.
“What are you talking about?” I asked with furrowed brows. I never danced with Isabella, she barely wanted anything to do with me as it stands.
The chorus of a collective gasp caused me to abandon my question. Blake and I both glanced in the direction of where most people’s eyes were trained on and I found Isabella on the floor and looking down at her was the woman I had noticed earlier.
With her face to me, I realized it was Rhea. She was wearing a mask but I recognized her instantly. I could barely hear the scream of the crowd over my beating heart as I ran towards where she lay unconscious. Blake was behind me.
I crouched down and picked her up as soon as got near her and cradled her head in my lap

“What did you do to her, Rhea?” I growled at the woman who was looking down at both Isabella and I in horror.
“I’m sorry Alexander. I just…” Rhea started to say, she sounded confused and a little scared.
“Shut up.” I barked. What the hell was she even doing here? “Who even let you in here? Guards!”
The guards came rushing to the scene. Caleb was by my side in an Instant and so were the others.
“I’ll get the car ready for the hospital.” He said as soon as he saw Isabella’s unconscious body lying on top of me. Quickly, he rushed out.
A few guards came up to me and I pointed at Rhea.
“Arrest this woman,” I said. Rhea shook her head and started to back
away.
“Alexander, no please, I didn’t do anything.”
“Now!”

I paced the hallway of the pack hospital waiting for news on Isabella. We had come in twenty minutes ago or less, I wasn’t sure but time seemed to stretch out as I waited outside the emergency room with little to no idea of what was going on.
Several times, I tried to go into the emergency room but Blake and Caleb had stopped me saying I’d only be obstructing the doctor’s work. I felt Blake’s hand on my shoulders before I heard him speak.
“Hey, she’s going to be alright. ” he squeezed reassuringly.

I nodded absent–mindedly.
She better be fucking alright or everyone would pay dearly. I shook my head not wanting to think about anything negative at all. I’d wait for the doctor’s report.
“Here.” Caleb offered me a bottle of water.
I shook my head. I didn’t want to eat or drink anything until I knew my mate was okay. I wasn’t sure I could even stomach it. I should have known something was up when I noticed she was acting weird but I had thought it was because I had arrived late.
Now, it was clear to me that she had probably been exhausted from all the planning she had had to do and then the fact that Rhea had been at the party and had pushed her.
My hands balled into fists and I wanted to punch something. Who the hell let her in any way? I had specifically instructed the guards to never let her into the mansion without my explicit permission again. If anything happened to Isabella, I was going to kill her.
I spotted the doctor walking towards me and rushed up to her.
“It’s alright Alpha, your wife is fine.” She said before I could ask what was going on.
A sigh of relief escaped me. I didn’t realize how tense I was till I felt my body relax at the news. It was as if a boulder had been lifted off my shoulders. I heard footsteps walk up behind me and knew it was Caleb and Blake.
“I want to see her,” I demanded.
“Sure, in a minute but she’s still asleep and there’s another thing.”

“What?” my eyes narrowed, bracing myself for whatever bad news she was about to give.
“We did a few scans and discovered that the Luna is pregnant.”
I blinked at her as I tried to process her words.
“Huh?”
“The Luna is with child.” She repeated with a smile. “Congratulations Alpha.” The doctor said.
I broke into a wide grin as a feeling of joy took over my body, replacing the dreadful feeling I’d had since we rushed Isabella to the hospital.
“Congratulations man.” Both Caleb and Blake said as they patted my
back.
My smile widened. Isabella was pregnant…with our child.
“That’s why she fainted. Her body was under a great amount of stress.” The doctor was saying but I didn’t catch most of what she had said.
I was too busy reeling over the news. Not only was Isabella okay, she also had our baby growing inside of her. I couldn’t wait to see it anymore. I wanted to hug the doctor right there and then.
“I want to see her,” I said, already walking ahead of the doctor.
“Uhm, sure.” I heard her say as she tried to keep up with my long strides.
I entered the ward and found Isabella sleeping. I pulled up her hands and kissed the back of her hands.
“Can you believe it? We are gonna have a baby.” I whispered, still

holding onto her hands.
“Hey.” I heard Isabella croak out an hour later. I was sitting on a chair close to her watching her sleep. She was finally awake. I rushed to her side.
“Where am I? What happened?” She asked as she tried to stand.
“No, don’t stand up, you are in the hospital. You fainted at the party.” I explained to her.
“Oh, that’s right, after Rhea pushed me. Where is she now?”
“Locked up.”
She said nothing. She seemed like she was musing my answer, trying to figure out if she agreed with my decision or not.
“I’m really sorry for not getting to the party early…” I started.
“It’s okay Xander.” She said. “I’m not mad.” She finished, squeezing my hands in reassurance. I kissed her hand and she smiled at me reassuringly. I tucked a strand of hair behind her ears and pecked her forehead.
“I have news,” I said to her, excited to let her know what the doctor had just told me.
“What news?” she asked with furrowed brows.
My grin was wide when I spoke again, “We are having a baby.”
Her eyes widened and her hands tightened around mine.
“Are you being serious, Xander?” she whispered.

“Yes. The doctor told me an hour ago.” I said, smiling down at her
She started to sit up, I tried to ease her back down but she smacked my hands away. “I’m fine Xander.” She said before sitting up properly.
“We are having a baby?” she asked again, this time a pool of unshed tears of joy shining in her eyes.
“We are having a baby!” I confirmed.
