Hundred and Thirty–Nine
Isabella’s POV.
“Okay, everything’s okay,” I said to myself as I breathed in and out. I was trying not to lose my cool but it was getting harder to do with each problem that was being reported to me
“Just get someone to get more wine from the shop,” I told Lisa. She had just come to inform me that a few cartons of wine were broken. Well, half of our stash actually and it was right after a maid had reported that a few wine glasses had fallen from the cabinet and crashed.
I handed her my credit card to hurry to the Grocery shop and get some wine, instructing her to take a guard with her and she scurried out of the hall.
The hall was a jade and gold–themed color. They had done a good job with the decorations. The tables and chairs were decorated in variations of jade and gold.
With some tables covered in gold cloth and decorated with jade trims, it was truly gorgeous. The chandeliers were on and they cast an ethereal glow on the hall.
The utensils had already been arranged, all that was left was to arrange the wines in ice buckets and assemble the two mini bars that would be in either corner of the hall.
“No, the flower arrangement is wrong,” I told one of the workers. “Come, I’ll show how it’s done.” The girl watched me as I arranged the flowers on a random table and nodded in understanding.

I gave her a smile when she was able to arrange one table just the way I wanted it before going to supervise every other sector.
“The mini bar should be somewhere where there’s no cluster of chairs. This is where the DJ should be” I told one of the workers who was unnervingly tall and he nodded.
“Over there is best,” I said, pointing to the other side of the hall. He beckoned on the other workers and they joined him in carrying the set up to where I had pointed.
“Hey,” Blake came to stand beside me as I watched the workers complete the finishing touches in the hall.
“Hey Blake, thought you were briefing the guards? Wait, have you given the guest list to…” I started to ask. Blake was in charge of security and the guest list.
“Yes, stop worrying. Everything is going to be great,” he said. I was sure Blake and the others were already tired of me by now and I couldn’t blame him. I had done nothing but berate them over little things and mistakes.
“I’m not worrying!” I said, glancing over at him.
“You’ve done nothing but worry all day that Caleb tagged you as the wicked stepmother.”
The lights suddenly went off plunging us into the darkness before I could respond to Blake and I stiffened. “What’s going on?” I asked Blake, a little panicked.
“Probably electrical problems,” he said. “I’ll check it out.” He added before walking out.
“Everyone stand by, we’ll get the electricity fixed in no time,” I told the

hall even though I was panicking.
It was just barely two hours before the party even started and everything was going sideways. I came outside of the hall ten minutes later to find Blake and figure out what was going on but just as I did the power was restored.
“Oh, thank the moon goddess.” I breathed out, glad it was nothing serious. I was about to go back inside when I spotted Sasha walking towards me with two drinks in her hand. She gestured for me to wait and I waited for her to reach me. I was about to collect a drink from Sasha when I heard a crash inside the hall.
With eyes wide and my heart in my throat, I rushed into the hall with Sasha following me behind. I gasped in horror when I saw what had actually crashed.
“What happened?” I yelled as I stared down at the wolf ice sculpture that was now broken in half. It was meant to be an attraction spot for the guests and it was ruined. My five–foot–high ice sculpture was ruined.
“I’m sorry Luna, I accidentally hit the table and the sculpture fell.” A girl who couldn’t be older than seventeen said, staring at me horrified at what she had done. Sasha took me by the shoulders and led me outside before I could speak.
I was hyperventilating at this point. Everything had been going smoothly until an hour ago. It started with half the cartons of wine breaking, then the lights, and now my precious ice sculpture. I wanted to scream in frustration. We had less than two hours and my dress wasn’t even here yet.
“Breathe,” Sasha said to me as she held me by my shoulders.
I took deep, calming breaths so that I didn’t break down like I wanted

“Good, relax. I’ll get the ice sculpture fixed.”
“How the hell are you going to do that in less than two hours?”
“Just trust me.” I stared at her for what felt like hours before I nodded and she went back inside the hall. She emerged less than a second later and handed me a cup of grape juice.
“Thank you,” I said gratefully to her as I collected the drink from her.
“You are welcome, I’ll be right back,” She said and quickly went in the other direction.
I whipped my head towards Caleb as I heard him talking to one of the volunteers. I walked towards him, glaring daggers. He noticed me walking towards him and then smiled at the girl before letting her go and walking towards me. “Where the hell have you been?”
“I have bad news.” He said. My stomach twisted at his words and my heart skipped a beat. I had already had enough to worry about, I didn’t think I could take any more bad news.
I heaved a sigh and out of my better judgment asked him to give me the bad news. He scratched his head before looking at me again. “The DJ won’t be able to make it.”
There was a long pause as I tried to process his words. “What?” My voice came out tight.
Caleb shifted under my glare. “I’m sorry but-” he started to say.
“Please tell me you are joking,” I said, putting my hands up into a
prayer stance.

“Unfortunately, I am not, DJ Julius was arrested by the Alpha of another pack just three hours ago.”
“You are telling me the party doesn’t have anyone that will play music!” I yelled.
Caleb flinched at my angry tone.
“I’m sorry but I tried calling another friend of mine but he’s out of town…”
Caleb’s eyes widened as I let out a scream of frustration. In fact, everyone in the hallway seemed to pause what they were doing to stare
at me.
Frustrated and angry, I ran upstairs to my room. I couldn’t take it anymore. The party was in two hours and there was no DJ, no ice sculpture, and barely enough wine. What would everyone think? What would the Luna think? I was a failure.
Everything was ruined.
I sat on my bed and held my head in my hands, trying my best to prevent the tears from getting the best of me but it was no use. I was too exhausted to even try to hold them back. My phone rang in my pocket. I snatched the phone and saw that it was Chloe.
“Hey, I’m just about to start getting ready to- why the hell are you crying?” she asked, noticing the tears that were falling down my cheeks.
“Everything is going terribly wrong, Chloe”
“What happened?”
I told her all that happened and she cooed.

“Heyy, hey that’s not enough reason to cry, look at me.” She demanded. Slowly, I glanced up at her, tears still in my eyes.
“Just breathe, it’s going to be fine you’ve come this far all by yourself. These things usually happen, all you need to do is to be strong enough to fix it and as for Alexander’s mom, I’m sure she’s going to love it once you are done. Now take a shower, go back downstairs, and show them who’s boss!”
Xekey made a sound in the background as if to encourage me and I giggled at the sound, despite my tears.
“See, even Xeke knows his aunt can do it.”
I smiled and nodded as I wiped the tears off my face. “But what do I do about music?” I asked her.
“Don’t worry, I know someone and I’m sending them in now.”
“Really?”
She nodded.
“What would I do without you?” I said, wiping my eyes.
“Probably nothing.” She chuckled and I rolled my eyes.
Shortly after hanging up, I went back down. “Alright, alright everyone let’s hurry with the finishing touches, the party starts in less than two hours,” I announced.
The kitchen was done with preparing the food and Lisa was back with the drinks, the mini bars were already set up and some of the workers had already gone home to change for the party.
“Coming through babeeeeeee.” Sasha’s voice made me turn. She was

pushing a trolley with a brand–new ice sculpture.
“How?” I asked wide–eyed.
“I have my ways!” She winked.
“You sure do!” I said, eyeing the sculpture that was now a much bigger
and better version of the one that broke.
“You sure do.”
