Hundred and Thirty
*Isabella’s POV*
Ryder paced the hallway of the hospital, looking helpless as he kept running his hand through his hair every five seconds as if trying to pull the strands out.
He groaned out in frustration and placed his fore head against a nearby wall. He looked about ready to convulse and I couldn’t blame him. I felt the same way. The wait was getting to me but one of us needed to stay calm. Lisa was seated beside me watching Ryder with a sympathetic look on her face.
Tired of seeing him worry himself to death, I stood up and walked up to him not sure of what I’d say to him that would reassure him that I hadn’t said in the last hour but anything was better than watching him growl and yank his hair out in frustration.
“Hey, it’s going to be okay.” I placed my hands on his left shoulders. “Nothing is going to happen to her, Just try and calm down and let’s have faith in the doctor. She said they’ll do all they can and she might, no. 1 shook my head. “will make it.” That was what I was choosing to believe. The doctor had said there was a fifty percent chance that she might make it but I was choosing to believe she would and so was Ryder but positivity didn’t drive away the possibility that she wouldn’t.
The doctor had also told us that she had an infection of some sort coupled with the fact that her blood pressure was high and that was what led to the complication. Ryder had almost gone insane when he heard the news. He had threatened to burn down the clinic if the doctor didn’t bring his woman alive and well. He had even tried to force his way into the emergency room but had been stopped by
security and the doctor had pleaded with him saying he’d only cause
more complications if he went in with her and that be needed to let her do her job. Well, her job was taking too damn long! If I could barely keep myself together I wondered what Ryder must be going through.
We hadn’t even been able to see the baby yet. It was all a huge pile of painful emotions after another and even though I was trying to calm Ryder down I was barely calm myself.
It had been hours since Chloe was rushed into the emergency room and every minute that passed reminded me of the impending doom. I had bitten all of my finger nails off waiting for any type of news but nothing had come in several hours.
Ryder took my advise and went to take a seat, if only to calm his nerves. His head hung low in his lap and his hands went around his knee. I walked up to him and sat beside him.
“it’s going to be okay.” I said to him, trying to convince him to stay calm as much as I was trying to convince myself.
“Take away the baby if you have to, I just need Chloe safe.” I heard Ryder murmur out a prayer.
“Don’t fucking say that Ryder! What is wrong with you? I get you are worried but wishing a poor baby to… god, Ryder.” He glanced at me with a painful expression and the angry look I had been giving him dissipated. He looked so Vulnerable in that moment, a far cry from the tall, strong man he was.
“You don’t get it Isabella, We can have more babies, I don’t know that tiny creature in there but Chloe is my mate for fucks sake. I’ll never get another her if anything happens to her.” His voice was thick with pain and at that moment I wasn’t sure what to say. I couldn’t even fault him. I understood his dilemma but at the same time it wasn’t the babies
fault.
“If anything happens to her, I don’t think I’ll make it.” He said with a broken and tired voice.
*She’s going to be fine.” I said to more to myself that to him.
I heaved a heavy sigh and pulled myself up to go to back to the mansion. I told Lisa before I left to keep an eye on Ryder and to call me Incase there was any news and she nodded, telling me to take care.
The mansion was eerily quiet as I walked in
“Hey baby, how…” Alexander started to say when I entered into his study but stopped. He frowned when he noticed my somber expression.
“What’s wrong?” he asked and I couldn’t help it anymore I started to sob.
“Hey.” He stood up and walked up to me, pulling me into his embrace. His chest was such a welcome comfort. His scent washed away the smell of the clinic but not my fear.
“What’s got you so sad?” he asked softly as he tucked my hair away from my face.
“It’s Chloe.” I said to him with my head down.
“What happened to Chloe?”
“She went into labor a few hours ago and the doctors are saying she…” I heaved a sigh trying to calm myself down. “She might not make it.”
Alexander pulled me tighter into his arms, rubbing my back from up to down.
“Shhh, she’s going to be Okay.” He Cooed as he rubbed down my back.
“But what if she isn’t?” I asked what I’d been too scared to even think

since the Doctor gave us the news. After all It was a possibility that she wouldn’t.
“She will.” He said with so much certainty that I believed him.
“I hope so.
“Don’t worry.” He kissed my forehead. “I’ll talk to the pack doctor, your friend is going to be Okay, okay?”
I nodded, feeling just a little better.
I left Alexander’s study ten minutes later and walked to my room. There wasn’t much I could do now for Chloe except wait, but there was something I hadn’t done in ages that I could still do.
Slowly, I walked over to my bed and knelt down to pray.
“Holy moon goddess, hear my plea and avenge my pain. I know I have not been in your presence in a while, I pray you have mercy on me but I need you right now, Chloe needs you. Please save her from the impending doom as you always save your children. I thank you for the safety of the baby and I pray you save the mother for what is a child without his mother and what is a pup without it’s caretaker.”
The door to my room opened and in waltzed Sasha in her usual bubbly mood.
“Hi!” she squealed as she closed the door behind her.
“Did you miss me? Don’t answer that I already know. A little birdy told me. It was Blake. Blake was the little…” she paused when she noticed my sad expression.
“oh goodness, are you okay?” she asked as she came to stand beside me. “You look pale, tell me what’s wrong.”

“its Chloe.” I said as I took a deep breath.
“What happened with her?” she inquired, her expression now one of
concern.
“Are you certain of what you are saying Sasha?” I asked the woman and she nodded affirming what she had just told me. She had just told me that she could help with Chloe that she was a pack healer as a rogue and I wanted to be sure this wasn’t a some kind of fantasy or that I hadn’t heard wrong. I wasn’t sure if I’d be able to take it if it wasn’t true.
“I am positive. I’ve been a pack healer most of my rogue life.”
“And you can help Chloe?” I inquired.
“I don’t see why I can’t. I just need to check her. She’ll be fine once I get my hands on her.”
“Okay.” This was definitely a sign from the moon goddess. I dragged Sasha to the pack doctor.
“I’m sorry but I can’t let her into the emergency ward.” The doctor said for the fourth time. We had been arguing for the past ten minutes now on Sasha going to help with Chloe but the doctor had refused, saying that any interference might worsen the complications. Ryder was not having it. He looked about ready to punch the doctor to the moon goddess and at this point I wouldn’t stop him if he decided to
“Look, doctor if anything happens to my wife… ” he trailed off “It’s clear you can’t do your job. There’s someone perfectly willing to help!” Ryder yelled. The doctor finally conceded in letting Sasha help. “Let her!” He gritted out.

“Fine.” The doctor finally relented. “But anything that happens from here on out is your responsibility.” She eyed all three of us and we nodded.
“This way.” She said and Sasha followed her with me in tow. We both washed our hands and put on our nets and entered the room where Chloe laid.
“Alright, I just need a couple of things.” Sasha turned to me..
“Hi, you there.” She beckoned on a nurse in the corner of the room.
“Yes, I’m going to need gloves and an injection stat.”
