“What’s wrong?” I rushed to Chloe’s side. Her face was scrunched up in pain as she held unto her stomach
“I’m fine…” she breathed out. It’s just… Ah.” She groaned out.
“Oh shit.” I cursed.
“Help, someone. Lisa!” I yelled for anyone to come to her aid. I was caught between leaving her and staying to watch her.
I yelled again for help but there was no answer. “Shit!” I cursed the size of the mansion. I glanced over at Chloe again with a worried frown on my face. “Okay, Just hold on.” I’ll rush to get help. Just breathe.” I said in frantic panic.
I ran to the doors and just before I opened it Lisa was burst in With a tray of fruits in hands that I had told her to bring up for Chloe earlier.
“Is everything okay?” she asked panicked.
“Get us a doctor. It’s Chloe.
She entered the room and found Chloe crying in pain.
She placed the fruit tray on the Coffee table and rushed to her side.
“I’ll get the doctor.” She said as soon as she examine what was going on and rushed out the door.
“Hurry!” I yelled after her and ran back to Chloe’s side. she was still

“Do something she’s in pain!” I yelled at the doctor.
The pack clinic was filled with staff moving in and out of different corners of the ward. I had tried to ask them what the hell was going on but they had kept saying the same thing. ‘everything is under control.”
I continued to pace waiting for news, any news of what was going on but nothing had come in the last thirty minutes.
Lisa showed up and handed me a bottle of water but I refused. I didn’t think I’d be able to stomach anything including water until I knew Chloe was okay.
The doctor had informed me that she had gone into labor after she had been rushed out of my room but it had been a whole thirty five minutes now with zero news other than that she had gone into labor.
“She’s going to be fine.” Lisa reassured and I nodded but still I couldn’t stop pacing or worrying.
“Yeah, she is going to be fine. The baby is only two weeks early… that happens right?” I looked to Lisa for some reassurance and she nodded with a sympathetic smile.
“She will be fine. My mother had me early too and she was completely fine and so was I. As a matter of fact I was a beautiful pup and healthier pup than most pups at least that’s what my mom said the doctors told her. Just take a seat and relax. She’ll be fine, you’ll see.”
I nodded and took Lisa’s advice and took a seat but immediately got up again. It was no use sitting down. I couldn’t even pretended that I wasn’t worried. I said a silent prayer to the moon goddess to protect Chloe and the baby and I cursed at the doctor in the same breath. Where the hell was she.

A nurse came outside of the Labor room just then and I rushed to speak to her.
“Everything is under control Luna, please have a seat and wait for the doctor.” I groaned knowing that I couldn’t fault her, she was only doing her job. How long does it take to deliver a baby for crying out loud. At this rate I was going to worry myself to death.
I heaved a sigh and went back to my spot and continued to pace the hallway, waiting impatiently like the nurse had begged for any type of
news to come soon.
Lisa was staring at me and giving reasurring words as I paced but her words only helped a little. I wouldn’t be able to calm down untill the doctor came out with a perfectly healthy Chloe and a baby.
Was this how husbands felt when their wives were in labor? Worried till the doctor came with the good news?
I said another prayer to the moon goddess again. Lisa for the second time offered me a bottle of water and this time I took it.
Ryder burst into the clinic five minutes later frantic and panicked. Everybody in the clinic glanced up at him as he ran towards us.
“What the hell is going on?” he asked, breathing like he had ran a
marathon.
“Chloe went into labor,forty five minutes ago.” I explained
“Shit, ” He cursed under his breath. His face ashen.

“Where is she, I’m going to go see her.” He announced and I rushed in front of him to stop him as he began to walk.
“You can’t just waltz in there now. Let th doctor do her job.” I pleaded.

“But my wife is in there. I’m supposed to be in there with her holding her hands through this.” he yelled hoarsely.
“I know, and I wish that too but the doctor said nobody can enter into the labor room now. It’s too late.”
Ryder punched the wall in anger.
“just breathe okay?” I told him. I understood how he felt completely. This was a once in a lifetime thing. He should be in there with his wife but it was already too late for him to go in.
“I told her to stay in today but she wouldn’t listen to me.” He said as he ran his hand down his hair and into his face.
“Just calm down. She’ll be fine and she’ll be out on no time. I told him even though I was just as worried as he was, but two people pancaking was hardly what Chloe needed right now.
The doctor came out of the ward fifteen minutes later and we all rushed to her side. She was in her scrub now.
“What happened?” I asked
“How is she?” Ryder asked.
“is she okay, is the baby fine?” I asked.
“Talk to me!” Ryder demanded.
The doctor pulled her glasses off and wiped her face with the back of her hand.
“The baby is fine and healthy. Your wife gave birth successfully but…”
“But what?” Ryder demanded his face contouring into a deep frown. I didn’t blame him a doctor saying ‘but.‘ Was never a good sign.

Tre doctor looked between me and Ryder, “Chloe, there was some complications with her and we’ll do our best but you have to know that there’s a possibility she might not make it.” The doctor finished solemnly.
There was a pause as my ear rang at the news. What did that mean?
Ryder grabbed the doctor by the neck before I could ask any more question.
“Say that again,” He spat in her face. “I dare you!”
I quickly rushed to her aid. “Ryder stop it,” I pleaded.
“Did you hear her. Did you hear what she just said?” he yelled.
“Yes but please let her finish.” He let go of her but was still in her face, scowling down at her in barely contained rage.
The woman stepped back at of fear and arranged her collar as she let out a cough.
Ryder was looking at her with murder in his eyes.
“Go on doctor…”
“As I was saying, Chloe might not make it due to some Complications but we are doing our best…”
“I don’t care if you have to give her your own organs you are going to save my wife. Are we clear?” Ryder spat.
