Hundred and Twenty–One
ALEXANDER’S POV
“it’s really not that big a deal, she’ll only be here for a week maybe two.” I said to Caleb in my study thirty minutes after Isabella disappeared upstairs. I missed her presence already and I was half pissed that Caleb had cut our time short but then it wasn’t exactly his fault either way. I’d have had to say goodbye early because of the mountain of work I had to do.
“And if longer?” Caleb asked with a disapproving look etched on his face. I had no idea why everyone was suddenly having bad feelings about the arrangement. With the way they were acting you’d think I was inviting some rogue wolf to the pack instead of a harmless woman.
“Then so be it.” I sad as I massaged my temple already annoyed by the
conversation.
“Alright then. It’s your funeral.” Caleb shrugged.
“By the way, your father wants her to be welcomed properly with grandeur and patience.
I looked up at Caleb in confusion.
“Your father’s words not mine.” He clarified. I shrugged, realizing that was definitely something my father would say. Rhea’s father and my father had been friends since they were pups. I wasn’t surprised that he‘ d want us to welcome her like a Luna but I didn’t have time for that, Caleb would have to take up that mantle.
“Just do whatever you need to do to make her stay ‘grandeur‘ I air

quoted. “Make the preparations for her, get the maids to clean up a -oom for her and you know whatever else things you think she’d require for her stay.” I said to Caleb in a tired voice.
“Sure thing Alpha.”
Caleb said and left my study without another word, leaving me to go through some more paperwork even though all I wanted to do was go up to Isabella. The pack was getting more stable,. the numbers were increasing and it seemed like we were coasting well and will for the whole year. All I needed to do was approve the next three month’s budget from various sections of the pack now. I also needed to help simplify some documents for Isabella. She had been having a bit of issues with sorting out the accounts she was in charge of. I continued to work well into the early hours of the morning before I left my study
for bed.
“That all you got Blake? You are getting weak.” I taunted Blake the next day in the training center. His eyes narrowed almost immediately his fist almost connected with my face.
“No but I’m about to wipe that cocky grin off your face.” Blake growled. He was a little more pissed off than usual, his body was stiff and his moves were a bit erratic, almost like he needed something to punch. His mood made his attacks sloppy as he Ignored all tactical control in favor of his emotions. I wondered briefly what had him on edge.
I dodged a kick from him and a following blow with ease and he growled in frustration. All thoughts of what had his mood sour left my thoughts.
“You know anger is the worst emotion to have in a battle field.” I teased him and immediately followed my words with a punch to his face.

He flew across the arena but he stood up just as fast and landed a punch on me.
“Good but not good enough. Where are you Blake ?” I asked, watching
him. I punched him again and it landed squares on his stomach. We continued to brawl, ignoring Mason’s and Caleb’s praises as they watched us from the benches.
Finally we ended the match and I took a bottle of water from Mason and gulped it down.
“Thanks man.” I said to Mason and he nodded.
Blake dropped his empty can of water on the floor and walked towards us, still shirtless and with a stiff demeanor.
“Good fight.” I said and stretched out my hands for a hand shake. He shook my hands and faced Mason.
“Rhea will be arriving in the pack this afternoon. Mason you’ll go pick her up.” He said without any room for negotiation in his voice.
“What? Why me?” Mason protested.
“Why not you?” Blake countered. He didn’t look like he wanted to be spoken to but that didn’t stop Mason from protesting.
“well, I’ve got some business to take care of, plus I really don’t have the energy for a tired Rhea. You know how she can get especially after a long journey…”
“Well, I’m not going to do it and the Alpha is certainly not going to do it. I also have work to do. Guards to check on, supplies to verify.”
Blake said not budging at Mason’s protest. I watched with disinterest as both men argued back and forth.

“Well, I’ve still got serious work to look into so…”
“Mason…” Blake warned
“I’ll do it guys. Yeesh! Y’all acting like you are going to pick up some sewer monster. She’s not that bad.” Caleb interjected.
“And we are glad you think so.” Mason said with relief. He really didn‘ t want to go huh?
“Well, now that’s settled…” I said, wiping my face with a towel “I’m off.” And with that I left the three men to figure out the logistics of Rhea’s stay in the pack and went up to my room to shower.
It was 12pm when I finally emerged from my study, done with a meeting. I went in search for Isabella, it was almost time for Lunch. I found her in her study with a few maids and guards arranging her study at least I thought that was what was going on.
“What’s going on?” I asked, walking deeper into the room.
Isabella along with every other person in the room whipped their head to the direction of my voice. They bowed in unison.
“Xander. You are here!” Isabella ran up to me.
“yeah, what’s going on?” I asked, welcoming her into my arms.
“I don’t know, but I think I saw a mouse in my office.” I chuckled at the
look of dread on her face.
“It’s not funny!” She glared at me.
“You are right” I said, trying my best not to laugh again and succeeding at first.
“Is that why you have the maids and a guard in your office?”

“Yes and stop laughing!”
“Okay, okay. I’m sorry. No more laughing.” I said making the motion of zipping my lips shut but immediately bursting out in laughter again
“Ma’am, found it!” one of the guards said as he showed the dead creature to Isabella.
“Oh my God, it’s huge. Take it away.” She said and hid in my back. when the guard passed us with the dead mouse.
“It’s not going to suddenly wake up Isabella.” I said, amused at how scared she was of the creature. She could fight a grown wolf but drew the line at a mouse? She was just too much.
“You don’t know that! It was alive a few minutes ago. Very much alive and running around like it owned the place.”
I couldn’t help but laugh some more at that.
“Ma’am a maid appeared in the door way. Lunch is served.”
I watched in amusement as Isabella stuffed her face with burger and fries later that day. It was around 1pm and we were eating lunch. I was supposed to be working on a few things with the finance department but I wanted to spend time with my Luna. We hadn’t spend much time together last night or even at all. She had fallen asleep when I was finally done with work last night. I had climbed in bed next to her, careful not to wake her. I was glad when she had immediately wrapped her hands around me in her sleep.
“What?” She asked with her mouth full when she noticed me staring.
“I should be asking you, seems like you are having a moment with the

your burger. “I teased.
She glared at me in response and swallowed.
“Are you calling me fat?” She asked, putting her burger down on her
plate and glaring at me My eyes widened. How the hell did she get that from what I said.
“What? No. “I tried to defend myself, unsure on how we had gotten
here.
She grinned at my shock.
“Gotcha!” she said and I fought the urge not to immediately kiss her. She could be a real piece of work sometimes.
“Seriously Isabella, for a minute I wasn’t sure what answer would have been appropriate.” I knew this because if there was one thing I knew about women, there was no right answer with them. Especially when they asked the forbidden question.
‘Do you think I look fat?‘
“You could have said no but even if you were, you would still be gorgeous as always.”
“Ah, I’ll keep that in mind.”
She continued to stuff her face and I continued to watch her, satisfied by her presence.
The door to dinning room Flew open with a loud bang nd a shrill voice that was all to familiar followed.
“Lexi!” the voice yelled and I cringed at the familiar nick name.
“Here we go.” I muttered under my breath, rolling my eyes.
