Hundred and Four
Alexander’s POV
“Can you bring me the security footage from West Mill Street?” I said to my secretary over the landline. “I want to go through them again.”
“Alpha, this is the fourth time today…”
“I said, bring them!” I commanded before slamming the phone back unto the receiver. I moved towards my monitor again just as my secretary walked in with the tapes.
She glanced at me warily and I could tell she was wondering if my mental health was at stake, just as everyone else in the packhouse.
I slotted in the tape and pressed play. I had watched this a hundred times and now it seemed like it was just a compulsion considering the fact that although I had zoomed into the frame and looked at it from all angles, I still could not see anything, other than masked people running in and wolves running out moments later.
I didn’t know what clue I was hoping to find by watching it as many times as I was but I knew that it was only getting me more and more frustrated. I wasn’t the only one who had gone through these tapes.
Our security experts and trackers had gone through them even before I did but came up short. These rogues just came out from nowhere, went into Isabella’s parents‘ home, and tore them apart.
Usually, when rogues attacked a pack, they targeted the pack house. This time they were quite specific and why would they go for my mate’s parents for any other reason than to get to me; the same way they kidnapped her. This time they’d at least get to her which would in turn get

to me.
This was my fault and it made me all the more murderous towards whoever the perpetrators were.
The door suddenly opened and Caleb walked in. I didn’t look up but his scent was enough to tell me who it was.
“Leave,” I said simply, not bothering with any other acknowledgment apart from that. But I should’ve known Caleb better than to think that he’d actually listen to me.
He took a seat and faced me, his fingers clasped together on top of my desk, “This matter is serious, Alexander. We need to do something about it.”
I knew the matter he was talking about. It was the matter of the lady rogue who held a knife to Isabella’s neck. The same rogue who turned out to be the rogue Blake was talking about; the one who was his mate.
I had had to retreat my orders to have her locked up but it did not mean she was completely off my leash. I had not said anything since about her but I know that my friends were all on their toes. Blake himself was even avoiding me as I had noticed so far. Maybe it was guilt as I had even let him harbor the girl in his home. I didn’t tell him to keep the girl in his house, of course not.
I just turned a blind eye to it and I wondered if that was why he was avoiding me. Caleb was right though, I needed to make a decision about her.
I was the one who assured Blake that she could join our pack no matter what but his mate was having too many negative things piling up against her now.
First, she was seen at the disruption at the coronation, and a week ago, she held a knife to my mate’s neck and I ended up stabbing her leg.

I massaged my temples, feeling very drained already. “I need Mason to bring in the results of the murder from forensics like I asked him to. Video evidence is not doing much to help with detecting identity.” I told
Caleb.
Until then, I wouldn’t take any action. They could keep staying together and having the time of their lives for all I cared but if I found out that Blake’s Sasha had anything to do with the murder or was involved in any way, I would make sure she paid and I wouldn’t feel sorry for what I would do for her. Even though her mate is my best friend.
For now, I was just hoping along with the rest of the guys that she had no part in the murder…for Blake’s sake.
Caleb left soon after that and I went back to work, finally deciding to pull out the tape and do some of the work that had been piling up for me over the past week.
It would be a welcome distraction from all the mess of this murder. I knew it would occupy my mind until it was solved anyway, but until then, a distraction would be very handy.
A couple of minutes of paperwork later and I heard a knock on my door. I sighed but told the person to enter anyway and two packhouse maids came in bringing in food.
I sighed, placing two fingers on my temple before raising my other hand to stop them. “Go back, I’m not hungry,” I told them, making a shooing gesture with my hand. They bowed almost immediately before turning around and leaving, shutting the door behind them.
Running my fingers through my hair, I went to my shelf and pulled out a file my secretary mentioned that I needed to look into. I was barely two pages in when a knock came at the door again and I groaned. It wasn’t even thirty minutes since the last intrusion!
I was getting ready to phone my secretary and let her know that I did not

wish to be disturbed when the door was pushed open and the omegas came in again still with the food. I was about to let loose all my frustration when I saw Isabella walk in behind them.
“You can drop it right there and leave.” She said to the girls and they nodded, curtsying to her before going ahead to do as she asked.
When they left, Isabella turned to face me, one hand on her hip. “I’m waiting to see if you would turn me away as well.” She said, her lips slightly pouted.
“You know I would never,” I said, reaching for her hand and pulling her into my lap frowning at her assumption. “You’re my favorite distraction during work hours, you know.” I glanced at the food,
“I’m really not hungry, though,” I said and she glared at me, the action throwing me off for a second before it got amusing.
She got off my lap and pushed my files to the side before placing the food right in front of me and going around the desk so she could sit in the chair directly opposite me. “Go on.” She nodded.
I couldn’t help the smile that spread across my face as I looked down at the food and then back at my mate who was not smiling at all.
It was at moments like this that I thanked the goddess for giving me Isabella as my mate. It was cute how caring she was in the most aggressive way.
“You think I don’t know that you’ve not been eating? I heard you haven’t eaten anything since last night and it’s 3 pm already. If I was the one skipping meals, you’d have spoon–fed me by now.” She said, folding her arms with her eyes narrowed disapprovingly.
I raised my hands in mock surrender, “I’m sorry.” I said honestly, understanding where she was coming from. If I was always worried about her it was only natural that she’d worry about me too.
