Chapter 2 The Father Shows Up
Isabelle was dazed. Her face turned pale and her heart beat fiercely. She didn’t even know what the man looked like. Was he tall or short? Was he old or young? Was he ugly? She had no idea at all.
She just wanted some help, yet he… Isabelle felt insulted and wronged
The man quickly put her in the car. Isabelle didn’t fight back. She had nowhere to go. The hospital was too crowded to be safe. If anyone recognized her as a Spencer, she would be doomed.
Clenching her fists, Isabelle peered closely at the understated Bentley before her.
The man answered a call respectfully. “Yes, Madam. I’m with Ms. Spencer now.”
“That’s way too early! Your grandchild hasn’t imbedded yet…”
Isabelle was soon taken to halfway up the mountain. There was a villa. where two maids were waiting.
“The two maids here are Alison and Maggie. They will take care of you in the next ten months until you deliver the baby,” the man explained to Isabelle.
Isabelle was dazed and then realized that she was tricked. “What does he think I am? A baby–maker? Tell that jerk to come to see me!“.
“Mind your language, please. Mr. L. was tricked that day. Otherwise, you wouldn’t have had your chance.”

Isabelle was furious. She was taken into a room forcefully. Though she was weak at that moment, she refused to compromise. Isabelle threatened the maids with a fast, urging them to call their boss.
In the evening, Maggie finally brought Isabelle some news. “Mr. L will come to see you tonight.”
Isabelle clenched her fists, her anger towards the man boiling up inside her, yet her curiosity still lingered.
It was late at night. Isabelle was lying in the bedroom when she heard the sound of a car engine.
She could hear people talking in a low voice.
The conversation ended and the knob was turned.
Isabelle found her heart pounding fast. She grabbed a vase, waiting for the man to enter.
Warren stepped through the door, a tall, slender figure silhouetted against the light. As soon as he entered, the room seemed to grow colder.
Isabelle was stunned. She then saw the man knock on the door politely before he walked in.
Isabelle was both panicked and angry. She raised the vase in her hand
Warren snuffed out the cigarette and dropped his hands. He then warned Isabelle. “Before you go throwing that vase at me, just remember the sofa is right behind you. Don’t trip!”
Isabelle didn’t see this coming. She looked back, a bit embarrassed
Warren’s voice sounded elegant and magnetic. It was authoritative, too.

Isabelle glared at the man. That night, he acted like a monster, yet the man in front of her now was gentleman–like. Despite his coldness, Warren looked graceful, polite, and mature.
Isabelle found it hard to relate him to the monster that night.
When Warren turned over, Isabelle saw his sliver half–face mask.
She couldn’t really make out what he looked like, except for his prominent nose and sharply defined jaw.
Warren grabbed the vase Isabelle was holding and looked her in the eye. “I’m sorry if I made you feel bad that night. That’s the only thing I regret.”
Isabelle was dazed at first. She blushed when she realized what the man was referring to.
He marched up to Isabelle, glaring at her. He sneered and said, “I don’t care how you pulled off this whole scheme – getting pregnant with my child and telling my mom…

Warren disregarded Isabelle’s words and spoke in a condescending tone. “She only has one more year left. Alright, if that’s what you want. we’ll get married. Have the baby in a year and you’ll leave with a large sum of compensation.”
That was an order rather than a negotiation.
Isabelle felt offended. “What do you see in me? A tool? A toy? Why should I nod to that?”
Warren didn’t reply. Instead, he turned on the TV

He took out an agreement and put it in front of Isabelle.

“That depends on how you behave. After we marry, please do abide by the following rules. Don’t intervene in what I do. Don’t betray me Don’t fall in love with me.
Narcissist! Isabelle signed the agreement without a second thought Warren stood up and simply said, “We’ll get married tomorrow”
