Theodoric was taken aback, and there was a hint of confusion in his eyes.

Upon letting out a chuckle, he pinched Ruthanne’s cheek and asked, “If you aren’t Marianne, then who are you?”
“I’m actually-”
“That’s enough.” Theodoric didn’t let Ruthanne finish her sentence. “Marianne, I told you I would marry you. I won’t go back on my word, so you don’t have to try to gain my attention with such lame jokes.”
Ruthanne was rendered speechless.
That’s not what I meant! This man is too good at imagining things!
As Theodoric had things to settle at the office, he left in his car without giving Ruthanne a chance to explain herself.
Ruthanne heaved a sigh and put on her hyper–realistic mask before getting dressed for work.
That afternoon, at Romanesque, the sunlight was shining into the luxurious yet modest CEO’s office. Theodoric had his eyes slightly shut when he uttered in a melodious and deep tone, “I want you to locate Marianne’s grandma.”
Ballard, whose hair was slicked back, bowed respectfully and responded, “Understood, Mr. Lasker.”
Suddenly, Ruthanne popped up in Theodoric’s mind. His gaze turned sharp as he instructed, “Also, get someone to hack into Ruthanne’s computer. If she receives or sends out any email, report back to me immediately.”
Ballard froze momentarily and mulled over it for a second. Realizing what his employer wanted, he asked, “Mr. Lasker, are you suspecting that Ruthanne is a spy sent by our competitor?”
Theodoric opened his eyes and said, “I don’t think that’s all. Her identity is highly suspicious. We have to be wary of her.”
Theodoric had investigated Ruthanne twice prior to that. Although he had discovered a thing or two about her, none of the information he received was what he wanted to see.
Ruthanne’s background is so clean that it’s weird. I doubt an innocent woman has the ability to make herself my wife. I must keep an eye on her.
Ballard instantly left to investigate. Half an hour later, when Silvius was giving Theodoric psychological counseling, Ballard entered the office with a folder in his hand.
“Mr. Lasker, I have gone through Ruthanne’s computer. She hasn’t done anything the entire morning apart from looking for some information online.”
Theodoric narrowed his eyes. “What information?”
Ballard ran his tongue across his dry lips and asked tentatively, “Mr. Lasker, do you want me to read everything out loud
