Theodoric found Ruthanne’s innocent face irresistible,

As a result of Marianne’s slap, there was a tinge of redness on Ruthanne’s cheek, and her pink lips were capable of making any man drool.
Theodoric strode toward her and hugged her from behind. He let out a sigh and said, “I’m sorry. If I had found you earlier, you wouldn’t have had to suffer.”
Ruthanne was in shock, and her entire body shook like a leaf.
Found me?
Ruthanne lifted her gaze to the mirror.
Without the mask, I look exactly like Marianne. Does Theodoric think I’m Marianne?
With that in mind, Ruthanne quickly hid the mask in the drawer to avoid exposing herself.
Theodoric hugged her so tightly that he wished they would never be separated again.
Ruthanne was in pain. Left without a choice, she copied Marianne’s dulcet tone when she asked,
Theodore, could you please let me go? You’re hurting me.”
Theodoric saw her delicate state in the mirror, and his heart melted when he heard her sweet voice. There and then, he was enchanted.
After he reluctantly let go of her, he held her shoulders affectionately, then spun her around and planted a kiss on her forehead.
Ruthanne shuddered. She knew the kiss wasn’t meant for her, but her heart still thumped wildly.
She was so flustered that she didn’t know what to say or do in response.
“I’m sorry. I got too emotional,” Theodoric said gently and smiled self–deprecatingly, afraid of scaring off the woman before him.
Ruthanne merely kept quiet and fixed her eyes on him.
Theodoric soon calmed down when he caught a whiff of a faint fragrance that was coming off her body.
This is the exact smell I smelled that night. It seems that I didn’t get the wrong person. I was simply too paranoid. She has been through all sorts of hardships over the years. I should’ve found her sooner.
“Marianne, I’ll find your grandma as soon as possible so that you can reunite with her.”
Ruthanne was stunned.
Grandma is in Jadeborough Hospital, no? The Forrests have been there to cause a ruckus plenty of times. Why is he saying that he’ll find her? Did Marianne lie to him and tell him Grandma was missing? That woman says anything but the truth! Theodoric is a meticulous person, though. How could he be fooled by Marianne?
Ruthanne lifted her gaze toward Theodoric and saw how in love he was with the woman before his eyes.
All of a sudden, a strange feeling filled her heart.

Everyone knew where Eve was, but Ruthanne wasn’t going to stop Theodoric from searching for Eve.
If Theodoric manages to find Grandma, that means he’ll protect her. That way, the Forrests won’t be able to use Grandma to blackmail me anymore.
“Don’t mention it.” Theodoric stroked her cheek with his thumb. “I’ll look for the right time to tell you about my relationship with Ruthanne. Don’t worry. I’ll definitely marry you.”
Ruthanne’s expression turned cold when she heard that.
I get it now! I know why Marianne had the confidence to act haughtily and domineeringly at the hospital that day! Theodoric is determined to marry her, and he loves her to the moon and back. In fact, there’s a world of difference between the man before my eyes now and the man I saw before this. He showers her with all his love and attention, and that gives her the confidence to do as she likes!
Ruthanne wasn’t supposed to feel anything, but for some reason, she felt utterly suffocated.
She couldn’t help letting her thoughts run wild.
Why does Theodoric like Marianne so much? Is it because of this face?
Ruthanne turned to look in the mirror to see a face identical to Marianne’s.
Well, as much as I hate to admit it, this face is rather captivating. That’s why plenty of men in the fishing village pursued me back then. So, if I stop wearing this mask, will Theodoric treat me better?
With that in mind, Ruthanne said cautiously, “Theodoric, you actually got the wrong person. I–I’m not Marianne.”
