Chapter 404 Caught in the Act
Freya returned to her office after visiting Edward’s room, sinking into her chair with a whirlpool of thoughts in her mind.
Russell approached her, saying, “Miss Kaufmann, it’s time for a break. You should head to your room and rest. You seem tired today.”
She nodded, feeling the frustration of the day weighing on her. Most of the medical equipment relied on electricity, and the few electronic components she had acquired the day before came from the only available machine. Hence, her plan of contacting Radley today seemed impossible.
Lucius said, “Miss Kaufmann, I’m leaving as well.”
Just as Freya was about to bid him farewell, her eyes locked onto the electronic watch on his wrist. She quickly said, “I’ll walk with you. We can discuss the patient’s condition, and I need to brief you on tomorrow’s medication.”
Their rooms were on the villa’s second floor. As they climbed the spiral staircase, she noticed the absence of surveillance cameras. So, she discreetly reached out and grabbed Lucius’ hand.
He was taken aback and asked, “Miss Kaufmann, what’s wrong?”
She whispered, “Give me your watch.”
Lucius stared at Freya, his brow furrowed with confusion, but he did as she asked. He took off his electronic watch and handed it over.
“Do you like this watch. Miss Kaufmann?” he inquired.
She shook her head and whispered, “Wait. She quickly opened the back of the watch, removed three button batteries, and returned it to him, cautioning, “Keep this between us.”
Lucius put the watch back on, feeling a strange sense of urgency. He deduced that Freya must be planning something, as she had taken the electronic components discreetly and hid her actions from the kidnapper.

Freya met his gaze. “You’re a medical prodigy, and I won’t allow you to die here.”
Meanwhile, on the third floor of the villa, Jamie sat in his office. He was visibly frustrated and rubbing his temples.
Monkey stood across from him, asking. “What’s our next move? Should we go after that book, Mr. Strategist?”
Jamie replied coldly, “No, it’s a trap.”
The organization had been closely watching a book, which had now surfaced at an auction. The previous attempt to acquire it nearly drove Falcon, their leader. to madness. Unfortunately, this golden opportunity coincided with Edward’s illness.
“So, are we giving up on it?” Monkey inquired cautiously, unsure of Jamie’s intentions.
Jamie relaxed his grip and gave a determined look. “Even if it’s a trap, we must take the risk this time. They can’t deceive the auction company with a fake book.”

Monkey nodded, “Should I arrange for your travel, or will you be going personally?”
“I’m short on time. Let Moonblade handle it,” Jamie decided. After a brief pause, a mischievous grin crept across his face, “Tell her that if she manages to secure that book this time, I might consider her confession.”
“Roger that. I bet Moonblade will stop at nothing to secure the book,” Monkey said eagerly, trying to impress.
Jamie nodded, his mind naturally wandering to Freya’s delicate yet surprisingly strong and resilient. demeanor. He always felt a sense of unease around her.
“Oh! Here’s this month’s utility bill,” Monkey said, placing a stack of bills on the table.
Jamie’s gaze fell upon the bill, and he scrutinized it.
At 8 o’clock at night, Freya entered the bathroom right on time. She pulled out the three batteries from Lucius’ watch from her pocket.
She climbed onto the sink to retrieve the “mobile phone” hidden in the ceiling, connecting the batteries. using wires. Sadly, the battery was nearly dead. Uncertain if Radley got her message, she hurriedly dialed his number on the chip. Seeing the light turn green, she knew the call had connected, but her time was limited.

Freya scrambled to her feet, attempting to flush the circuit board down the toilet, but Monkey swiftly kicked her wrist.
The circuit board flew into the air and crashed to the ground.
Jamie approached, his eyes locked on the green light flickering on the board. “Freya, I’ve clearly underestimated you. Despite the surveillance, you managed to outwit us.”
Monkey grinned smugly and asked, “Mr. Strategist, how should we deal with her?”
Jamie glanced at the green light on the circuit board that had just turned off. “Freya, can you explain this, or should I have someone look into it?”
Freya clenched her fists, knowing Jamie’s reputation for making people pay for silence. She steadied herself and said, “It’s a basic communication system. I took apart some electronics today, but you destroyed them before I could make a call.”
Monkey picked up the board and handed it to Jamie, who examined it with a smirk.
“Miss Kaufmann is quite something. A perfumer, mortician, doctor, and now a chip programmer. You’re full of surprises”
She shivered at Jamie’s words.
Jamie casually stashed the board away. “Who were you thinking of calling?”

“Radley? So, you’re choosing your lover over your family. You trust this guy?” he asked with a sneer. “Do you think he can save you?”
She gritted her teeth and said, “I have to give it a shot.”
“Alright,” Jamie conceded. “Since you want to reach out to Radley, why don’t I lend a hand?”
She remained silent, fully aware that Jamie had ulterior motives.
“Monkey, take her to the third floor.”
Since she was forced to take medication daily, she couldn’t match Monkey’s strength. He quickly overpowered her and bound her hands behind her back.
Monkey escorted Freya to the third floor under Jamie’s orders. Jamie unlocked the door to his office, and she was forced to kneel in the center of the room by Monkey.
Jamie retrieved a specially designed mobile phone from his drawer. He switched on the camera and aimed it at her. “Say something to your lover,” he urged.
Freya remained silent, and Jamie motioned to Monkey, trying to appear uninterested. “Just avoid her face.”
Monkey acted swiftly, delivering a kick to her abdomen. She bent forward, her face hitting the floor as she coughed violently.
