Chapter 377 Treat Her Like a Daughter
Freya pursed her lips. She was surprised by her master’s perceptiveness.
Noticing her silence, Brandon sneered. “If you don’t want to talk, then don’t. But Trisha and I are living. comfortably in Caltun now, and we have no plans to go on any trip to Lagresh. We appreciate your kindness, but we don’t need the trip.”
Freya felt anxious. “Master-*
Brandon stared at her for a few seconds before sighing. Wait here.”
He got up and went into the main building.
A few minutes later, he came out with a box in his hands.
Freya recognized it right away as the multipurpose box that Brandon had taught her to make before.
But the one in Brandon’s hands was even more exquisite.
Brandon placed the multipurpose box on the table and opened it, taking out a small and ordinary-looking iron box from inside.
He placed it in front of Freya. “See if this can solve your problem.”
Freya sighed and opened the box.
The small iron box was ordinary, but the things it contained were priceless.
Freya stared at the passbook, check, and safe key in the box, falling into silence.
The check was placed on top, and the zeros written on it were so numerous that they were eye-dazzling.
After a few seconds, Freya spoke up. “Master, you’re so rich!”

A warm feeling surged in Freya’s heart. “Master, is this your retirement savings?”
Brandon raised an eyebrow, looking like someone not to be messed with. “You are responsible for taking care of me after I retire. What retirement savings would I need?”
His words were harsh, but his actions were heart-warming.
Freya smiled and put Brandon’s things back. Then, she slowly closed the multipurpose box.
“Master, it’s not about the money. I just want you and Mrs. Lane to relax and go on a trip.”

Freya facepalmed. She had never seen her master so wise before!
“Master, I really can’t tell you the specifics for now, but I promise that once it’s resolved, I will tell you everything in detail. Okay?” Freya glanced at him, trying to divert his attention.

Brandon squinted his eyes. “So, the fire at Kaufmann Residence a while ago wasn’t an accident?”
Freya was startled.
The incident of the fire at Kaufmann Residence was well known in Caltun. At that time, to appease Brandon and Trisha, Freya claimed that it was an accident.
She didn’t expect Brandon to connect the dots so quickly.
Freya was stunned for only a fleeting moment, but it was enough for Brandon to understand something.
He sneered. “I’m getting by just fine in Caltun, and I won’t go anywhere. Just give up. You won’t be able to send me and Trisha abroad!”
Freya lowered her head and remained silent. She thought that it would be easy to deceive Brandon, but unexpectedly, he saw through it at a glance.
“Why aren’t you saying anything?” Brandon asked.
Freya replied dejectedly, “What else can I say? An old fox is always cunning.”
Tell me. What exactly is going on?”
Freya glanced at Radley and saw him nodding. She knew that she couldn’t hide it anymore. She had no choice but to speak up, but she skipped the gory details.
“In short, someone has been targeting the Kaufmann family, all for the Compendium of Medical Wisdom. Fortunately, there haven’t been any casualties so far, but I’m worried they will go after you, Master.”

Freya was startled. “I can’t do that. The Compendium of Medical Wisdom is like a bomb now. Those people will target anyone who has it.”
Seeing Freya’s firm attitude, Brandon didn’t insist on looking at the Compendium of Medical Wisdom.
After thinking for a moment, he said, “Since those people are after that book, why don’t you just hand it
over?”
“No, I can’t trust them.” Freya pursed her lips.

The three of them chatted for a while. Then, there was a noise at the front gate. Freya knew it was Trisha returning.

Brandon sneered and leaned close to Freya and Radley, “You two can’t make me leave.”
Freya was exasperated. Meanwhile, Trisha had already entered the gate. “Frey, come help me pick some vegetables.”
Trisha didn’t seriously need Freya’s help; she just missed Freya. She and Brandon had no children. After spending time with Freya, she now treated Freya like her own daughter.
Freya got up. “Coming.”
Radley followed closely behind her. When they reached the middle of the courtyard, Freya whispered, “What should we do? Master doesn’t want to leave.”
“If he doesn’t want to leave, then there’s nothing we can do about it. I’ll send more people to protect the area, and I’ll try not to alarm Master and Mrs. Lane.”
The look in Radley’s eyes was dark. “If things turn extremely dangerous, we’ll find a way to knock them. out and take them away.”
Freya clicked her tongue. “With a personality like that, Master may never forgive us for the rest of his life.”
They had lunch in the courtyard. Then, Trisha went to the kitchen to clean up.
The remaining three sat in the yard.
Brandon glanced at Freya and said, “I can’t see the book, but I have to at least know the shape of the burnt silk. Sketch it for me.”
Freya had a vague memory of it. She grabbed a wood carving pen and roughly sketched the pattern on a discarded piece of wood.
“It looks something like this, but since the Compendium of Medical Wisdom is an ancient text, I couldn’t burn the entire thing. However, I suspect that there may be a lot of golden silk patterns like this inside.”
Brandon stared at the pattern, deep in thought.
Observing his reaction, Freya became curious and asked, “Master, do you recognize it?”
“I don’t fully recognize it, but it does seem somewhat familiar.” Brandon squinted his rings a bell, but I can’t recall where I’ve seen it before.”

Trisha was diligent, and Brandon was never fond of having outsiders in their home, so they had never
employed a servant before
However Brandon now realized the gravity of their situation.
