Chapter 288 Bringing in a Witness
The man with glasses seemed on the verge of a breakdown as he muttered to himself.
Connor’s face turned cold. “You clearly know the truth, yet you didn’t inform the police, letting Melissa and Hannah be slandered. Do you have no sense of justice?”
“What’s the worth of a sense of justice?!” The man with glasses was already mentally shattered, looking up at Connor and growling. “Melissa and Hannah were born into wealthy families. Those kinds of people were born into privilege! I hate people like them the most!”
Radley nodded in silence, signaling Connor. Thus, Connor approached the man with glasses. “Now, describe to me what the woman you saw looked like.”
The man with glasses’ teeth trembled slightly as he stared at Connor. “That woman looked to be around thirty years old and was very beautiful.”
“That’s it?” Connor frowned. “Aren’t you planning to put your joints back together?”
“Deal with the other two first, Radley said calmly.
“Understood.” Connor stood up and walked towards the two guys sitting on the chairs.
The two guys stared at Connor in fear!
What does “deal with” mean? How are we going to be dealt with? they thought.
Connor had a faint smile on his face as he walked up to them. “I believe the two of you should already understand the purpose of your visit today, but please keep it confidential.”
Connor smiled and continued, “Transportation has already been arranged for you outside. It will take you back to Evergreen University.”
As he spoke, he walked over to the nearby table, picked up two black bank cards, and handed them to the two guys.
Today, we brought you here without your permission, which was impolite of us. Thus, this is our compensation for you as an apology.”
The chubby guy mustered up his courage and took the card from Connor’s hand. “This… This is…”
“It’s simply a compensation of one hundred thousand dollars. No password is required,” Connor clarified.
The chubby guy’s eyes widened. His family’s financial situation was average, and a hundred thousand dollars was already a year’s combined income for his parents.
Once the chubby guy accepted the card, the tall and thin young man also took the one from Connor’s
hand.
The two were respectfully escorted out of the villa by the security guards and got into a Rolls-Royce.
On the way back, the tall, thin young man leaned toward the chubby guy.
They just gave us one hundred thousand dollars just for coming here. Do you really believe it?”
“What do you mean?” the chubby guy asked.

“Could they be planning to kill us to keep us quiet?”
Soon, the car reached the entrance gate of Evergreen University. The two exited the car and stood by the gate, watching the Rolls-Royce drive away.
The security guard in the guard room scolded, “It’s past curfew. Where did you two run off to?”
The chubby guy remained silent momentarily before saying, “Although it was a bit scary tonight, if at single trip can earn us a hundred thousand dollars, I hope I can be scared like this every day…”
The next day, at eight o’clock in the morning, Freya was having breakfast when she received a message from Radley.
Since Melissa’s incident, she had removed his number from her blocklist.
Fortunately, he hadn’t contacted her about anything other than matters related to Melissa and Hannah.
While sipping her cereal, Freya opened the message, and her gaze fell on a digitally altered photo.
It was a woman with an extremely beautiful appearance. Although it looked very real, the photo had traces of manipulation.
Freya frowned, wondering what Radley meant. Then, the next second, a long audio file was sent to her.
Without hesitation, she directly opened the file.
Soon, a sorrowful male voice came through, followed by the male’s “confession.”
“Everyone at school says that Melissa and Hannah killed Benjamin, but I know—”
The male voice echoed in the dining room, and Freya’s pupils instantly contracted. This was….
Ashley, who was sitting across from her, raised her head. “Frey, where did this recording come from?!”
“Radley just sent it to me.” Freya pursed her lips. “He promised me yesterday that he would find the camera owner before tonight.”
Radley’s actions were much faster than she had imagined. Not only did he locate the camera’s owner, but he also obtained a piece of audio evidence and a witness!
A hushed silence fell over everyone present as they listened attentively to the words of the male voice in the recording.
Before long, a portrait of a man was also sent, and Freya took a glance, immediately recognizing him.
“This is the man who attacked me yesterday! He’s the one who killed Benjamin!”
Ashley was both angry but pleased that the true culprit had been found. “What kind of era is this now? There are still such malicious organizations that exist! But with this recording, along with these two photos and the witness, Melissa should be able to clear her name, right?”
Freya nodded, “Radley should have sent these pieces of evidence to more than just me. The police should have received a copy as well.”

She looked up at Ashley and offered a reassuring smile. “Aunt Ashley, you can be at ease this time. Melissa should be able to come out soon!”
With such substantial evidence, the atmosphere at home became much brighter.
After finishing breakfast, Freya received a call from Jonathan.
“Miss Kaufmann, we have received some evidence. Would you like to come and take a look?”
“I’ll be there right away.” After agreeing with Jonathan, Freya prepared to leave by car.
As she passed through the living room, Braxton frowned at her. “Where are you going, Frey?”
Freya grinned. “Officer Cooper asked me to come over. There should be some progress in Mel’s case.”
In the living room, Noah’s expression turned serious.
“Frey, maybe you shouldn’t go alone. We’ve just discussed this with your brother. Those two people are obviously organized! Lately, you’ve been chasing leads and even confronted that murderer. It’s possible. that you’ve caught their attention, and going out now might be dangerous.”
Freya smiled. “Uncle Noah, I’ve been in danger before. Since then, my brother has upgraded all my cars to explosion-proof levels. Don’t worry. I’ll drive straight to the police station and won’t get out of the car on the way, okay?”
Noah still had some concerns.
Freya continued, “I’ve been investigating Mel’s case all along. Since Officer Cooper asked me to come now, there must be something important to discuss.”
Braxton stood up. “I’ll come with you.”
“But, Brax, weren’t you supposed to go to the company this morning?” Freya furrowed her brows and glanced at the calendar. “Today is also the 15th, so you got to attend the corporate meeting today.”
Braxton responded, “Then, I’ll reschedule.”
Freya sighed helplessly and chuckled. “It’s okay. Ayden is already at the door. Brax, you don’t have to worry about me anymore. I promise I won’t leave the car on the way.”
Braxton wanted to say more, but Freya had already grabbed her bag and walked briskly outside.
“Oh, Jolly already had milk this morning. You can feed her at noon,” she called out.
Freya drove the car from the Kaufmann Residence and arrived at the police station. She parked the car in the police station’s courtyard before getting out.
Just as she stood still, she heard someone calling her from behind. “Miss Kaufmann!”
