Chapter 278 Approach From Another Angle
This time, Melissa was involved in a criminal case, and even if Freya wanted to temporarily hide it from the Marshalls, it was impossible.
Early the next morning, Noah and Ashley took the earliest flight to Caltun.
In no mood to take a detour to Kaufmann Residence, the couple rendezvoused with the Kaufmanns at the police station..
Melissa had spent the night alone in the detention room. She looked even more haggard, her from crying.

Ashley leaned against the door, and even she, who was typically strong-willed, couldn’t help shedding
tears.
“Don’t worry, Mel. I will find a way to get you out.”
Noah stood nearby, his brows tightly furrowed. He looked at the sad appearance of his wife and daughter and turned to his nephew. “Can’t we get Mel’s bail processed, Brax?”
“The case involving Mel hasn’t been resolved yet,” Braxton replied seriously. The police currently won’t allow bail.”
Melissa wiped away her tears, her voice resolute. “Dad, Mom, and Aunt Sylvia, don’t worry. It’s okay for me to stay here for a while, but I want you to find out who killed Benjamin!”
Freya, standing aside, reassured her, “Don’t be afraid, Mel. We’ll do our best to investigate, but the top priority now is to clear your suspicion.”
She didn’t dare to promise Melissa that they would definitely catch the killer. Since those people dared to commit murder at Evergreen University and frame Melissa, they must have been very well-prepared.
Shortly, the officer in charge of the case came over. The case had not been fully investigated yet, and even though Melissa was just a suspect, there were still time restrictions for visitation.
Noah and Ashley had to follow the Kaufmanns back to Kaufmann Residence.
In the living room of the Kaufmann Residence, Noah looked up at Braxton. “Brax, I need your help with the investigation during this period. I don’t have many connections in Caltun as I do back in Vroria.”
Braxton nodded, his voice serious. “Rest assured, Uncle Noah. I won’t let anything happen to Mel!”
Both the Marshalls and Kaufmanns were aware of Melissa’s temperament, but that didn’t matter much. In the afternoon, the police summoned Noah and Ashley for further investigation.
When the two of them returned, their faces were grim.
“The police asked us about Mel’s personal matters, but we could tell that they were trying to indirectly assess whether she had any motive to harm others or had an anti-social personality.” Ashley related, her voice trembling.
“The police also mentioned the evidence to us. But I asked Mel, and she insisted that she didn’t see any knives at the scene. She didn’t touch anything and left without seeing anyone!” Braxton sat on the side, rubbing his temples.

“The problem lies in the evidence containing Mel’s fingerprints and Hannah’s traces!” Freya added, “And there’s the surveillance footage too. The only way to Swan Lake at Evergreen University is through that tree-lined path. But I had Ayden check it today, and it’s possible to walk through the woods or climb a wall. However, there are no surveillance cameras in those areas.”
Silence filled the living room.
Seeing Ashley covering her face in anguish, Freya pondered for a moment. “From what I know, the Monaghans have already started a thorough search at Evergreen University due to Hannah’s involvement. Now Melissa and Hannah are in the same boat. If the Monaghans find any leads, they’re likely to share them with us. I think we can skip this step and approach it from another angle.
Noah was puzzled. “Where else can we start other than a comprehensive investigation?”
The evidence, Freya declared resolutely. “Since we all know the evidence is suspicious, even if the illusion is flawless, we should be able to find a tiny loophole!”
“But the evidence is in the police’s hands. It’s impossible for them to hand it over for us to find flaws,” Braxton furrowed his brows.
Freya nodded, acknowledging that it wasn’t just a matter of being allowed access.
Even if they were handed over, they would go through the forensic department. How could they possibly let the suspect’s family examine it?!
Noah clenched his teeth. “If necessary, I’ll have someone steal it. Finding even the tiniest flaw is better than letting Mel be wrongly accused of murder!”
“It hasn’t come to that point yet, Uncle,” Freya reasoned. “We must find a way now, at least, to obtain the forensic report and photos. If we can’t find anything, then we can consider stealing the evidence.”
Breaking into the police station to steal evidence was too bold, and Freya wasn’t going to take that step unless it was absolutely necessary.
Braxton looked at the time. “Uncle Noah, Aunt Ashley, it’s already past one. You probably haven’t even had breakfast. Go have lunch first, and then think about it.”
Ashley wiped her tears. “I really can’t cat. You go ahead.”
“Aunt Ashley, Mel’s suspicion hasn’t been cleared yet, and we don’t know how long the investigation will take. If you don’t cat, how will you have the energy to deal with what comes next?” Freya sat beside Ashley. persuading her.
“Go have lunch first,” Noah echoed in a deep voice.
It took some effort, but Freya finally persuaded Ashley to have lunch.
After lunch, once the rooms for the Marshalls were arranged, Freya returned to her own bedroom.
Next to her bedroom was a small study. After entering the study, Freya immediately turned on the computer and logged into The Green Flamation forum.
She posted a commission on the forum, asking people to investigate the true cause of Benjamin’s death.
Many members were on the forum, including quite a few from Caltun. These individuals had various connections and resources.

After posting the commission, Freya frowned at the screen.
She couldn’t rely solely on the forum members for Melissa’s case. She would also personally investigate.
The icon for the elder group flashed in the lower right corner of the computer, and Freya clicked on it to find Inken and Landon mentioning her.
Ink asked, ‘What’s going on, Green Scylla? Why are you investigating the cause of death of this Anderson- guy? Who’s he to you?”
Freya sighed softly and replied as Green Scylla. ‘Since you’re here, help me investigate too. This matter is very important to me!’
Too bad I’m not in Caltun right now. Otherwise, I can help you dig into it, Heartless Scoundrel commented.
Before long, Brisa also appeared and mentioned Green Scylla as Tisch. I’ve booked the earliest flight. tomorrow. I’ll look into it once I land!’
Freya was moved. This was a time-sensitive situation, and she didn’t have time to be polite.
She immediately sent a message to Jakob, asking him to secretly inquire at Evergreen University about who had been near Swan Lake on the night in question.
After sending the message, Freya saw that the group chat had burst into a tumult.
How did I end up finding the suspect murderer of Anderson’s case to be your cousin?! Ink exclaimed in disbelief.
“Why do you think I urgently asked you to help me find out? Green Scylla replied.

Freya pursed her lips. I know her very well, and I know that she would never kill someone!”
“Well, looks like this is a tricky case,” Ink commented.
