Chapter 268 He Realized What’s Off
Phoenix Lane, in front of the Scarlet Feather Restaurant.
After parking her car, Freya walked into the restaurant. Her gaze swept around the establishment until she quickly spotted Mikael and Chris sitting in the corner.
Approaching the two, Freya took a seat across from them.
“Mick, Chris, what brings you two to find me?”
Mikael and Chris had called her countless times over the past couple of days.
Freya didn’t have any particular issues with them; in fact, she had come to consider them as friends. However, these two were not only her friends but also Radley’s closest brothers.
Mikael locked eyes with Freya. “I have a question for you.”
Freya pursed her lips in response. “If it’s about Radley, you can ask freely.”
At that, Mikael’s expression turned grave. “Radley’s condition isn’t good right now. You can rest assured. that I’m not here as his envoy. I just want to ask you, why did you break up with Radley?”
Freya’s gaze deepened. “This seems to have little to do with you, Mick. I consider you a friend, but I hope you won’t get too involved in my relationships.”
“Frey, we’re not trying to make things difficult for you.” Chris grew a bit impatient on the side. “It’s just that Radley is currently in the hospital, and we need to know what you did to him that made him so devastated.”
Freya furrowed her brows. Devastated? Hasn’t Radley already stopped waiting in front of my house for eight days?
“I made him devastated? Are you saying that all of this is my fault?” Freya asked.
Mikael hurried to explain. “We’re not blaming you. We just want to help him regain his spirits.” Mikael hurried to explain and checked Freya’s subtly changing expression and thought for a moment before. continuing. “Frey, it’s not just Radley alone who is involved in this. You should know that the reconstruction work of the Joint Department in West Geft will be completed soon, after more than a year of work. Both of you, as the responsible individuals, will have to deal with the authorities. But if his health continues to deteriorate, it will delay the progress of the project, won’t it?”
Freya’s gaze lowered, and her long, curled eyelashes covered the emotions surging in her eyes.
After a moment of silence, she found a convincing reason for herself.
Since Mikael had brought up the matter concerning the Kaufmann Group, she would handle it with a professional attitude and explain the reasons for her breakup with Radley.
Is that all?” Chris asked, somewhat puzzled.
Freya nodded in affirmation. “That’s it.”
Chris looked at Freya, pondered for a moment, and then expressed his feelings, “Frey, Radley has always treated you very well. Why did you choose to break up with him? You probably won’t find another man in all of Caltun who loves you as much as he does.”

His words caused Freya to lock her brows in a tight furrow.
Images of previous betrayals flooded her mind one after another.
She took a deep breath and fixed her sharp gaze on Chris. “Do you think Radley loves me?”
“Of course.” Chris nodded.
At that, Freya took another deep breath. “I know you are all Radley’s friends, but we had our own history. too. I’m sure you’re well aware of how he treated me in the past.”
Mikael’s eyes flickered slightly, sitting there. “Yes, but the past is already forgotten, isn’t it? Since we’re starting anew, why bring up those old memories?”
Freya’s voice turned cold. “Amnesia doesn’t erase the past. Radley and I were married once before, and that failed marriage at least proves that we were truly incompatible. And he fell for Danna Delgado back then, didn’t he?”
The depth of her love was matched by the depth of her wounds.
Freya’s hand trembled slightly.
Recalling the past, Chris also sighed. “Radley was confused back then as well, actually believing that angelic b*tch that is Danna Delgado.”
Mentioning Danna only made Freya even more furious, and Mikael sat observing her expression on the side, his eyes narrowing slightly.
He had met Freya a few times before, but her emotions had never been as intense as they were this day when she mentioned Danna.
And the worked-up expression on Freya’s face was something he had never seen before.
Something’s not right; what’s off here?
Chris also seemed a bit awkward after hearing Freya’s counter.
“I’ve told you everything you wanted to know.” Freya stood up. “I’ll head back now. Mick, Chris, let’s meet. up again sometime.”
As Freya left, Chris became anxious and looked at Mikael, who was deep in thought. “I thought we’d agreed on persuading Freya so that she’d talk some sense into Radley? Are you just going to let her leave
like this?”
“Do you think, with Freya’s current mood, she’d do that? Mikael asked in return
Chris frowned and nodded in agreement. “I’ve never seen her so assertive before.”
“She’s not being assertive. It seems like she’s genuinely upset and angry about Radley’s past actions.”
She was even more worked up when Danna was mentioned.
Mikael suddenly sat up straight, finally realizing what was off. Previously, when Freya talked about these things, it was as though she was narrating someone else’s story with no emotional impact on her. But this time, she reacted as though everything happened just the day before.

He pursed his lips at that. Could it be… Has Freya remembered everything? She had been admitted to the hospital because of an injury before….
“Come on, let’s go to the hospital!” Mikael stood up.
Chris frowned. “We’ve just tied Radley up in there, and you want to go to the hospital?! I bet you he’ll flip out when he sees the two of us.”
“If my guess is correct, we might have a chance to reason with him!”
After leaving the restaurant, Mikael and Chris drove to the hospital and found Connor standing by the door when they arrived at Radley’s ward.
This was the first time Connor had disobeyed orders, and he had allowed someone to tie Radley up, strapped to a hospital bed at that.
He pursed his lips, feeling like his career was over. Well, even if it’s over, I still have to protect Mr. Monaghan’s well-being!
“Connor.” Mikael walked over from the hallway. “How is Radley doing now?”
Connor wore a gloomy expression upon seeing Mikael. Mr. Monaghan just woke up and said he wants to
fire me.”
“He’ll come to his senses once he calms down. Since he’s awake, there are some things I need to talk to him about. You stay here.”
Connor nodded.
Mikael and Chris entered the ward. As they stepped inside, it felt like the temperature had dropped a few, degrees.
The man on the hospital bed had a cold and sinister gaze, radiating anger.
“Lancel, you better release-”
“I just met with Freya,” Mikael interrupted.
Radley, on the bed, paused and frowned. “Why did you meet with her?!”
