Chapter 266 Better to End It Swiftly Than To Drag It
“Mr. Monaghan…” Connor hurriedly opened the back door of the car for Radley.
Radley stood still for a moment, his face suddenly turning red, and he coughed up a mouthful of blood.
“Mr. Monaghan!” Connor exclaimed in shock.
After coughing up blood, Radley’s face visibly paled. He felt dazed, as though the most important thing in his life had been forcibly taken away from his body.
Will I have to face a life without Freya from now on?
Radley’s vision darkened, and he fainted, collapsing onto the ground with a thud.
On the second floor of Kaufmann Residence, Freya hid behind the windowsill after returning to her. bedroom, watching through the gap in the curtains to see when Radley would leave.
She clenched the curtains tightly, her eyes filled with a sense of melancholy. Leave. Leaving may be for the best. After talking to Radley, I shouldn’t be trapped by these emotions about him anymore.

Connor felt he wasn’t meticulous enough when it came to taking care of people. He could handle fighting. and killing, but caregiving was another matter.
Since waking up, Radley had remained silent on the hospital bed. Gradually, his eyes took on a sense of indifference and hostility.
His aura was even more terrifying than usual.
Listening to Connor’s words, Radley reached out and directly pulled out the IV tube from his hand.
The needle came out, and a few drops of blood splattered.
Radley got up from the bed.
“Mr. Monaghan!” Connor cried out anxiously. The doctor said you must stay in the hospital for a while to recuperate.”
Radley’s voice was cold and hoarse, “Back to Smalzot Yard!”
At that, Radley’s car drove out of the hospital at two in the afternoon.
Near the hospital gate, in a taxi, Freya looked at the black vehicle’s window.
She could vaguely make out the silhouette of someone in the back seat.

If Radley had stayed in the hospital a little longer, she might have rushed in without care to check on him. Fortunately, he came out.

After Freya and Radley’s conversation the day before, Braxton had reviewed the surveillance footage and saw Radley collapsing in front of the Kaufmann Residence. His assistant had taken him away. Freya had also chased after them, but she was a step too late.
These two clearly have feelings for each other. Braxton sighed softly.
Things had come to this point; his sister and Radley truly had a complicated fate. Regardless of Freya’s choice, he would always respect her decisions.
After arriving at the Kaufmann Group, Braxton had just reached the top floor when the secretary from the adjacent lounge walked out and hurriedly approached him.
“Mr. Kaufmann, there’s a young lady who claims to be your cousin waiting for you in the lounge.”

“Is her last name Marshall?”

To think Melissa would come all this way to see me. He wondered if she had gotten into some trouble at school.
In the lounge, Jamie was accompanying Melissa.
They had been chatting when Melissa learned that Jamie was Edward’s brother. At that, she chatted. warmly with Jamie, discussing topics ranging from the Kaufmanns and the Marshalls.
Footsteps approached from outside, and Jamie stood up.
“It should be Mr. Kaufmann arriving, Miss Marshall.”
The next second, the door to the lounge was pushed open.
Braxton stood at the doorway, and he smiled when he saw Melissa inside. “It’s really you. Why brings you here? Did you get into trouble at school?”
Melissa blinked, looking somewhat embarrassed as she glanced at Jamie beside her.
“Let’s talk in your office, Braxton.”
The two arrived in his office, and after questioning. Braxton learned that Melissa’s recent grades weren’t. satisfactory. Noah was livid and had frozen all her cards, leaving her with only a savings card with three thousand dollars.
As Melissa spoke, she looked pitifully at Braxton. “Braxton, initially, three thousand dollars would have been enough for me. I’m not someone who spends extravagantly, but in just a week, it’s my boyfriend’s birthday. So… I want to borrow some money for a gift.
Braxton chuckled. “Your boyfriend?”
“Yes, yes!” Melissa nodded. “Freya has met him before.
Braxton trusted Freya’s judgment, so he didn’t think much of it. “How much do you want to borrow?”
Melissa blinked. I’ve set my sights on a watch that costs around two hundred thousand dollars.”

Braxton pressed the intercom. “Ayden, prepare a check for two hundred thousand dollars for Mel.”
Ayden acknowledged, and Melissa immediately lit up with joy.
“Why didn’t you ask Freya for this? Isn’t it a bit far-fetched to come looking for me in my office? If I remember correctly, Kaufmann Group is further to Evergreen University than the Kaufmann Residence.”
Melissa sounded a little dejected. “How dare I bother Freya at this time? She’s already troubled because of Radley, isn’t she?”
The Kaufmanns and the Marshalls had always been close, so Braxton treated it as giving his cousin some pocket money. Yet, Melissa still solemnly signed a small IOU note and gave it to Braxton.
“My dad will definitely reward me when my grades improve next semester, and by then, I’ll pay you back with interest, Melissa said with a smile.
