Freya smiled and nodded. “Didn’t I tell you that I have brought a bodyguard? Well, he’s also my boyfriend.”
At once, Matthew’s face turned pale. “Have you forgotten how he treated you back then?”
“I have, indeed,” Freya nodded.
Matthew questioned through his teeth, “He left you alone at home and had an extramarital affair with Danna! Have you forgotten all that?!”
Freya fell silent while Radley’s expression turned cold.
“Matthew, I don’t want to bring up the past. Strictly speaking, Radley has saved. my life many times, so I don’t want those memories that basically don’t exist in my mind to interfere with my choices.”
Just as Matthew wanted to say something, a stern voice belonging to a middle-aged woman came from the living room behind him.
“Matthew, is Freya here?”
Staring at Radley with a sinister gaze, Matthew replied, “Yes, and Mr. Monaghan too!”
With that, Freya and Radley entered the Hood Residence.
They arrived at the dining room. As for Matthew’s parents, they clearly didn’t expect Freya would show up with Radley. Once again, their gaze fell on Freya’s hand, which linked with Radley’s arm.
At that moment, Lorelei knew all the sarcastic and rejecting remarks she had prepared all day instantly became useless.
Rather, it was Tripp who reacted first. He stood up, smiled, and said, “At first, we were thinking of inviting Freya over for a simple dinner. We didn’t expect you would join us as well. We sincerely hope you will forgive us for the lack of preparation, Mr. Monaghan.”
Radley’s expression remained calm.
Meanwhile, Freya observed the situation from the side. Sure enough, the Hood Group had a friendly cooperative relationship with the Kaufmann Group. However, it was different with the Monaghan Group, considering Radley once deliberately suppressed the Hoods before.

With her face full of smiles, Lorelei picked up the tableware and scooped the dishes for Freya. While putting them on her plate, she added with concern, “Frey, you need to eat more and get sufficient nutrients now that you’re pregnant.”
Freya smiled with closed lips. “Thank you, Mrs. Hood.”
Radley sat on Freya’s right side, whereas Matthew sat on her left.
After deshelling a shrimp, Radley put it on Freya’s plate. Their silent, intimate interaction. put Tripp and Lorelei’s minds slightly more at rest.
However, their reassurance took a turn when the two saw Matthew put a mini meatball on Freya’s plate in the next second.
Radley’s frosty gaze and his parents’ respective glints of anger landed on him simultaneously, but he didn’t care at all.
“Frey, I read a book about pregnant women a few days ago. According to the experts, you should consume more protein.” Lorelei couldn’t help but speak first.
“Where are your manners, Matthew? Frey has Mr. Monaghan taking care of her, so why are you such a busybody?” Lorelei’s reprimand left Freya slightly stunned.
At once, she recalled the times when she and Braxton attended several family gatherings. That time, even if they did something wrong, their mother would gently educate them instead of scolding them loudly.
Yet, Lorelei’s harsh words and stern, acrimonious tone showed no slightest respect Matthew.

Upon hearing that, Tripp criticized gloomily, “Are you saying your mother is wrong for educating you?! You’re already an adult, yet you are still so thoughtless!”
Instantaneously, the atmosphere at the dining table became rigid, and Freya found herself somewhat couldn’t take another bite of her food.
As a matter of fact, she even suspected that Tripp would have flipped the table by now if she
and Radley weren’t present.
Matthew slammed his fork and knife onto his plate, making a crisp sound.
At this point, Tripp already rose to his feet. “Matthew!”
Freya couldn’t utter a word, for she nearly choked on her food from the shock of witnessing such a hellish family dynamic.
Radley’s expression turned slightly cold. He reached out and gently stroked Freya’s back.
“Mr. Hood, please calm down a little.”
Only then did Tripp sit back down with a cold expression.
As for Lorelei, she glared at Matthew and said, “We’re sparing you for the sake of Mr. Monaghan and Frey!”
Tripp cast Matthew a cold look. His anger intensified when he caught Matthew’s indifferent expression. “Mind your manners if you still want to enjoy your dinner. Return to your room. if you don’t.”
At this juncture, Freya completely lost her appetite.
After dinner, Freya bid farewell to Matthew’s parents and planned to leave.
Just as she and Radley arrived at the front gate of the Hood Residence, Freya realized that she had left her phone on the dining table..
“I have left my phone in the Hood Residence. Let’s go back and
get it.”
As soon as Freya and Radley approached the front door of the Hood Residence, they heard at crisp sound.
It sounded like someone was smashing something inside the house.
Soon, Matthew’s mockery came from inside. “Weren’t you two still discussing how to drive. Freya away before she arrived?
“Yet, why did you suddenly behave so refined and courteous upon seeing Radley? Now, you are throwing things at me moments after she left. I must say, you two are quite the professional of being two-faced.”
“Matthew, you ungrateful child! Get out of here!” Tripp’s low-pitched scolding sounded.
“I must have owed you in my past life! Can’t you be a little sensible? If you had told us earlier. that Freya and Radley were together, would we have had such an embarrassing scene.
tonight? I don’t wish for anything else. I simply wish you can be half as understanding as Trevor!” Lorelei’s voice rang out.
Freya silently tightened her grip on Radley’s hand.
Although she grew up in a single-parent family, her mother was loving, and her brother. always doted on her.
Outsiders often said that she was the beloved daughter of the Kaufmanns, which was undoubtedly true.
Hence, she couldn’t imagine what it would be like to grow up in a family with such a tense and toxic atmosphere.
When Braxton mentioned some “incidents” involving Tripp and Lorelei to her in the past, Freya only felt that they were a very peculiar couple and pitied Matthew a little.
Now that she had experienced such a tense and toxic family dynamic at the dining table. today, she realized she couldn’t enjoy her meal even when she was merely an outsider who watched from the sideline.
She couldn’t believe Matthew had lived in such an environment for over twenty years!
Freya pursed her lips and remained silent.
Radley glanced sideways at her and asked, “What’s wrong?”
“Nothing. I just feel that Matthew is living through a rough life,” Freya said flatly. “I used to consider him my friend. My good friend.”
A smile appeared on Radley’s face. “I know.”
The argument inside the house continued, and the sound of something breaking could be heard again, making Freya frown.
Immediately afterward, Lorelei’s shrieking roar resounded. “You’re indifferent at the mention of Trevor! As I see it, you don’t care about his death at all! In fact, I bet you’re the one who caused his death!”
Such a devastating criticism made Freya’s heart sink to the bottom.
For a moment, she imagined how she would feel if Sylvia had said such words to her. I will lose all hope to live on if that truly happens.
While holding Radley’s hand, Freya strode into the villa.
