Chapter 229 The Eve of Farewell
Freya sighed, “Should I inform your parents about this situation? But I need to meet your boyfriend first.”
She was concerned that her sister might be getting involved with someone deceptive.
There was a brief silence on the other end of the phone, followed by a shy voice.
“Freya, you’ve met him before.”
Freya furrowed her brows, pondering for a moment. During Hannah’s birthday, she had invited many of her and Melissa’s classmates from Evergreen University, but she hadn’t really connected with any of them.
“Who is it?” Freya asked.
Melissa whispered, “It’s the guy you saw at the Monaghans last time.”
Freya quickly recollected the young man she had glimpsed during her previous visit to the Monaghans. It had been only Melissa, Hannah, Edward, and Benjamin present at that time.
Melissa continued over the phone. “His name is Benjamin Anderson. He’s an exceptional person and has been treating me well.
From her memory, the boy looked good and had a decent personality.
Freya finally felt relieved.
Melissa’s voice sounded uncertain. “Freya, could you not mention this to my parents?”
Freya sighed, “Alright, but this is your first relationship. Since you asked me to keep it a secret, I’ll take responsibility for you. Whatever happens, you need to inform me immediately, understand?”
Melissa responded happily, “Okay, don’t worry, Freya. Benjamin is really great.”
After hanging up the phone, Freya continued driving, a faint smile appearing on her lips.
Melissa had always been carefree and tomboyish since she was little, like a boy.
She never expected Melissa to have such a girly side one day.
Even though she promised Melissa not to tell her uncle and aunt about her relationship. Freya immediately accessed the dark web when she got home.
She delved into all the available information about Benjamin Anderson. It turned out that he came from a modest background. His father was a chief surgeon at Caltun General Hospital, and his mother worked as a teacher.
Freya checked Benjamin’s academic records, and he had been an excellent student since elementary school.
There was nothing unusual in the information, so Freya finally felt relieved.
For the next two days, Freya stayed at home, busy with her brother’s engagement.
On Thursday night, Freya received a call from Radley,
“Hello, what’s up?” Freya asked.
Radley’s voice was cold on the other end of the phone.
“Wilson from Iternia called, asking when we can travel there to finalize the contract. It seems to be the intention of the Iternian royal family.”
Radley’s voice was low. “To avoid any complications, I might have to leave for Iternia tomorrow.”
Freya’s heart skipped a beat, and she subconsciously asked, “How long will you be gone?”
“After signing the contract, I’ll come back as soon as possible. It might take about a week. Radley’s voice. contained a hint of a smile.
The timing was standard. Freya had estimated that dealing with Iternia’s business was complex and would require a substantial amount of socializing time. Under normal circumstances, it would take at least half a month, so Radley’s quick departure was understandable.
“It’s alright; you can go. Starting tomorrow, I’ll be at the West Geft Joint Department. I won’t let anything happen to West Geft while you’re away.”
There was a few seconds of silence on the phone, and Radley’s voice was somewhat low.

“Before I go, I want to see you one more time.”

Freya’s heart suddenly skipped a beat.
She was about to refuse, but Radley seemed to have guessed her thoughts.
“There’s still a lot of work at the West Geft Joint Department that I need to explain to you.”
Freya’s pounding heart finally eased a bit.
“Are you going tomorrow?” Freya looked at the time. It was already three o’clock in the afternoon.
After a moment of consideration, she added, “How about I treat you to dinner? Since you’re representing both of our companies, I can’t leave right now, and I wouldn’t want you to be alone. It’s also a great opportunity to discuss what you need to say.”
Radley’s laughter came through the phone. “Sure.”
The two of them agreed to meet at 6 p.m. and Freya left before Braxton came back.
She arrived at the restaurant Radley had reserved. Since it wasn’t a weekend or a holiday, there weren’t many people outside the restaurant.
Freya hurriedly got out of the car and walked into the restaurant, sensing that something was off as soon as she entered.
Radley had booked a Fillay restaurant, but even if it wasn’t a holiday, the first floor shouldn’t be this
empty.
After entering the restaurant, two waiters closed the door behind her, and the lights on the entire first. floor instantly dimmed.
There were faint stars on the glass dome of the hall.
Freya’s heart skipped a beat.
Not far away, on a long table in the middle of the restaurant, the candlelight flickered.
Beside the table covered in white lace tablecloth, Radley was standing there, like a prince stepping out of an ancient oil painting.
Freya’s feet froze in place, unable to move.
The waiter who led her in looked confused and turned to ask, “Miss?”
Freya pursed her lips, tightened her grip on her bag, and pretended to be calm as she walked toward, Radley.
Candlelight, candles, dinner, and elegant music playing from the second floor.
The atmosphere was too ambiguous.
Freya sat down and casually asked, “Did you book the entire restaurant?”
A smile appeared on Radley’s face. “Well, since you’re treating me to dinner, I should show some sincerity.”
The two of them sat at opposite ends of the long table, and Radley furrowed his brows.
He stood up and moved his chair to Freya’s side.

Radley’s expression was calm. “I don’t want to be too far away from you.”
With just a few words, Freya felt like her heart had been struck by something heavy.
The lingering feeling after being struck continued to tease her heart.

Radley thoughtfully cut the steak for her, and Freya’s hand under the table clenched tightly, feeling
restless.
During this meal, Freya couldn’t taste the food.
She suddenly felt like a frog in warm water, not knowing when she had been boiled by Radley.
When the two of them left the restaurant, Radley carefully placed his hand on her waist.
Freya felt uncomfortable.
Standing on the roadside after leaving the restaurant, it was already dark.
