Chapter 145 Radley’s Wish
Freya thought Radley would rest at home for at least a while after he was discharged from the hospital.
But, she received a phone call from him just a few days later.
“Let’s have a meeting at the Joint Department in West Geft tomorrow since it’s a weekend
Freya answered with hesitation. “But, your injury hasn’t healed completely just yet
Tll be fine. It’s just a short meeting anyway, Radley reassured.
Freya was worried, but she didn’t say anything further.
On the weekend….
Freya arrived early at the Joint Department in West Geft.
However, it was still early, and Radley hadn’t arrived yet. So, she went to Brandon Lane’s office to look around.
The pavilion built from the tenon-mortise technique had been completed recently, and it was waterproof and insect-proof.
Freya asked Brandon to stay after putting it into consideration as he had the building technique that they might need in the future.
Besides, he didn’t have much work to do outside of that. All he had to do was to check in at the Joint Department in West Geft every day.
Brandon was fond of Freya’s request now that Mrs. Lane’s health had improved, and he gladly accepted the job.
He was seen playing around with little toys in the office at first. But, what he was actually doing was experimenting with toys that resembled the tenon-mortise technique in order to get inspiration.
He immediately smiled upon seeing Freya. “I haven’t seen you for a long time, Frey,”
Freya also replied with a smile. “I’ve been busy lately.”
Brandon shook his head. “Radley hasn’t shown up these days either. This is strange because he used to come here every evening.”
“Is that so?” Freya was surprised to hear that from him.
“Yeah, Brandon answered casually. Then, he looked at Freya with a mysterious smile. “I wonder who he’s waiting for every evening because there’s not much work that requires his attention here.”
However, Freya intentionally changed the subject. “How’s Mrs. Lane’s lately? I’ve been busy and haven’t got the chance to visit her.”
“She’s recovering well, and she’s much better than before. Other than that, she talks about you a lot.”
Radley arrived after their conversation went on for a while
Then, Freya said goodbye to Brandon, and she went to attend the meeting with Radley
Freya and Radley hadn’t been to the Joint Department in West Geft in the past two weeks
As a result, they had to listen to quite a few progress reports, and they had questions to ask as well. The meeting lasted for two hours before it ended.
Freya looked at Radley following that, and she found out that he still appeared pale and looked sick
You should be resting at home. Why did you insist on a meeting! Freya scolded inside
Radley looked at Freya and said after he got up, I thought you promised to see me in the hospital after 1 woke up?”
Freya replied with hesitation, I promised to check on your examination results, not you.”
Radley frowned slightly, but Freya’s phone at the side rang just as he was about to speak.
She picked it up and saw that it was from Chris.
Freya asked Chris to help out Isabella in Vroria last time out, but she had been brought back by Braxton now, and Chris had been out of touch since then.
So, Freya answered the phone with a sense of guilt, “How are you doing lately, Chris?”
Chris’s sounded furious on the other end of the phone call. “What do you think? I’ve been stuck in my house in Vroria all this time because of you. Plus, Old Mr. Holland even made me kneel in the living room a few times!”
The Hollands emphasized quite heavily on tradition, and there were still punishments and family rules here and there.
Freya knew Chris had been through a lot from how angry he sounded. Then, she smirked and replied. “You’ve been through a lot, Chris. Let me treat you to something nice when you come back to Caltun!”
“No… There’s no need. I’m already back in Caltun.” Then, Chris continued, “Don’t you forget that you still owe me a favor.”
Freya only laughed. “Fine, I know.”
Chris ended the phone call after he made his points. At that moment, Radley asked, “Do you owe Chris a favor?”
Freya nodded. “Yes. I asked for his help before.”
Then, she paused and hesitated for a while before saying, “You’ve helped me a lot as well, Radley. Let me know if you need anything in the future.”
“Anything? Radley’s eyes instantly flickered.
“I will do my best to help you with anything as long as it’s not illegal or against moral ethics.” Freya made it
clear.
“Are you sure? Because I have a wish right now? He smiled as he asked.
“What is it?” she asked.
“I want to take you to a few places,” he answered as he stood up.
Freya couldn’t refuse as she had just promised him a moment ago.
But, where did Radley want to take her?
It was still afternoon after the meeting had ended. “Are you sure you won’t regret this?” Radley asked with a grin as he got up.
“Of course not!” Freya continued, “But, don’t you think you’re taking this too lightly since what you did was literally saving my life? Are you going to use up my favor just like this?”
“I didn’t do it for a reward anyway,” he replied indifferently.
He saved Freya because he wanted to.
“Alright, let’s be on our way.” She was prepared for anything when she spoke.
Radley took Freya to the entrance of the Joint Department after they left the meeting room.
He drove a black G-Class Mercedes-Benz today. It appeared ordinary from the outside, but Freya felt the weight of the door was much heavier than that of a regular car door when she opened the door.
Then, she lightly tapped the car’s body and said, “It seems like we have a modified car here, eh?”
Radley nodded. He had been worried about Freya’s safety since the recent attack, and he had modified all the cars in his house to be explosion-proof.
“It’s time for lunch. Let’s get your stomach filled first,” he said.
She agreed, and they went to Chris’s newly opened restaurant.
Radley and Freya talked about the attack during the meal. “I told you that you were wanted on The Green Flamation forum on the dark web with a reward of 30 million. The recent attack is probably due to that reward, and someone has already taken it. I have Connor to investigate it, but it may not be easy to find the person behind it,” Radley said.
Freya’s eyes flickered as she replied. “The IP addresses on the dark web change very often. Connor will be finding a needle in a haystack if you want him to continue at this rate.”
Radley paused while cutting his steak. “I didn’t know you have knowledge about IP addresses and things like that.”
Freya smiled lightly. “My brother has told me a few things. I need to have some knowledge as someone who works in a company. Otherwise, how can I manage the company’s Network Security Department?”
Radley believed in what she said. “You can leave this matter to me.”
However, Freya shook her head. “This is my own business, and I don’t want to get you involved
Radley drove off with Freya after finishing lunch, and they were not in a hurry to be anywhere in Caloun
Freya furrowed her brows slightly. Where is he taking me? They first stopped at spice shops on South Forest Road. Then, they went to a garden before finally arriving at a residential area
She couldn’t help but ask. “Where are you taking me, Radley? Are you lost!”
