Chapter 96 Confusion and Suspicion
An overwhelming embarrassment washed over Julia upon hearing Jared calling her professor. On the other hand, Jared found her shocked reaction amusing. She looked funny and cute. The president of Brooks Corporation suddenly discovered his new source of joy.
“Anyway-” Julia glanced at the documents and box on the floor. She had thought of hundreds of excuses she could tell Jared while he was treating her earlier. And she indeed came up with the best one.
“I saw something moving on top of the cabinet, so I checked it. When I moved the box, it suddenly jumped on me. That’s why I dropped everything, including myself. I think it’s a mouse.”
She felt a sense of guilt washing over her as she said those words. This man didn’t deserve to be deceived.
“A mouse?” Jared’s face wrinkled. “Next time you encounter this kind of situation, just call someone else. We’re lucky you only hurt your waist. What if you hurt your head? It would have been a huge problem.”
‘Wait. Did he really buy that lame excuse? Didn’t he even suspect me? And why did he treat me instead of interrogating me?‘
She had several questions running through her mind. And since the man chose to believe her lie, she guessed she didn’t have to say anything more.
“Wait. What about your meeting?” Julia tried changing the subject.
They both glanced at the door.
“I kinda left in a hurry. I still have a few important things to discuss. You should lie down and take
a rest.”
“Okay. I’ll try to sleep again.” Julia shut her eyes because she really intended to sleep for now. She was tired and hurt.
Jared then covered her again with his suit jacket before leaving.
But as he stepped out of his office, she opened her eyes and stared at the closed door in confusion. After a few seconds, her gaze darted to the mess on the ground.
She cocked her head as she thought of Jared. ‘Did he really buy it? Or was he just acting?”
Meanwhile, Joseph followed behind Jared.
“Mr. Brooks, may I ask why you left her again? Why does it feel like she was looking for something?”
“She saw a mouse,” Jared replied, scowling.
Joseph’s brows furrowed. “It’s impossible. Mr. Brooks, you knew very well how well–maintain is your
office. Even flies don‘ t come around in there.”
Jared stopped in his tracks and spun around to face Joseph. Of course, he knew about that.
When Joseph noticed his boss‘ expression darkened, he decided not to press further.
“I want you to dig up her past. I want to know whom she contacted after her wedding with Carter. I want to know what she did after that.”
“Got it, Mr. Brooks.” He felt relieved that Jared was suspicious of Julia.
In fact, Joseph felt weird when Jared and Julia received the certificate before. He was the one who

was in charge of the investigation.
The Julia he had investigated before was timid and had a weak personality. This was why Conrad had been protecting her. Otherwise, her stepmother would have abused her.
Joseph got to know later on that she was fearless and had a strong personality. If anyone dared to hurt her, she would return the pain in a thousand folds.
He also heard that she was a good fighter. According to what he heard, she had beaten up about five or six killers with her bare hands.
And then there was this rumor about her medical skills.
In order to heal Shiloh‘ s leg, the family spent a fortune looking for a specialist who can cure him. However, it only took Julia a month and more to cure him. Now, he could walk with a cane This could be considered a miracle.
However, Conrad’s case was suspicious. If she really had those great medical skills as she claimed, why couldn’t she treat her bother?
Joseph could only deduce the truth.
“Don’t let her know about this,” Jared commanded in his deep tone.
“Got it, Mr. Brooks.”
In the next few days, Julia remained in bed. However, she couldn’t relax. She kept a phone with her at all times.
“Wolf Three. I’m relying on you this time. Give it
your all.”
The person Julia called was Denver, the current leader of the broadcasting team.
“Leave it to me. I’ll take care of things for now. ‘ve turned down all the merchants. It doesn’t matter if we lose, as long as you’re satisfied!” Denver exclaimed.
His personality suited his flamboyance, though. Otherwise, his weird gestures and temperament would bewilder the average person.
Julia rolled her eyes. “You’re all talk.”
“Absolutely! I’m the number one broadcaster. I rely on this mouth to live.”
“By the way, boss, just now the Ross Group came to me and asked me to show their products in the live broadcast room.”
Denver and the other brothers knew about Julia and her past, including the attempt to murder her.
They also knew about her relationship with Carter.
There should be no lies within their group, for they are one. Lincoln and Denver regarded the old and new Julia as one person.
“Yeah. Cheer me on. I want to witness the impressive results of the product I’ve made.”
Her goal was to outshine Carter’s newly formulated products with her developed ones.
“Yeah. That’s the way it should be. Besides, you can practically cure anything, even death. These
acne and skin products are a mere trifle for you. Don’t worry about it. After a week, the audience
my live broadcast room will witness the miracle before their eyes.”

and Suspicion
In the Ross Group conference room, the atmosphere was somber and heavy. Carter’s expression. was sullen as if he was about to cry any second now.
“How did this happen? Why did Denver refuse to cooperate with us? Didn’t he enjoy working with us before?”
No one dared to answer him.
At that exact moment, Benedict suddenly received a call. “What? Denver collaborated with J&C?” Carter’s eyes widened abruptly. It was just a few days ago after he learned that Conrad opened a bridal shop.
He asked someone to dig up on him and found out that he had a company, J&C Limited. After Benedict hung up the phone, he looked at Carter.
“Mr. Ross, Denver, and J&C Limited have already reached an agreement to start broadcasting their products tonight. It’s a skincare product for people with severe acne.”
Carter’s frown could kill a fly. He really couldn’t figure out why Denver rejected them and chose a small company that had just been established.
What puzzled him the most was that Denver actually used the name of his studio as a guarantee. There are many anti–acne products developed on the market, but very few of them were really effective.
‘Could it be that Denver knew Julia and Conrad beforehand?‘
Carter quickly dialed Julia’s number.
Just as she was about to go downstairs to exercise and stretch her waist for quick recovery, she received a call from Carter.
The sun was shining brightly outside, so she was in a good mood. She grinned before accepting his call.
“Mr. Ross! I know you are a busy person. How did you find time to call me?”
“Julia. You knew very well why I called you. Did you do it on purpose? Do you still have feelings for me? Is that why you’re doing this?”
