Chapter 94 The Savior and The Thief
Chapter 94 The Savior and The Thief
Julia softly gasped in surprise before glancing at the person who hugged her from behind. Her lips curled into a smile upon seeing him. “Jared,” she whispered, facing him. “I’m sorry for coming here unannounced. I tried calling you, but you didn’t pick up.”
Jared scanned his wife from her head to toe. He let out a deep sigh of relief upon realizing she wasn’t hurt anywhere, his worried–stricken face lightening up. “I’m sorry about that. I didn’t. realize my phone was on mute.”
But his face tensed as his gaze darted to the group of guards who came to seize his wife. Their eyes widened in fear as he glared at them.
“How dare you all come at my wife!”
The guards didn’t dare meet his gaze in fright. The oldest of the guards, who seemed to be their team leader, spoke up. “We’re so sorry, sir. We didn’t mean to hurt her. Joseph here told us that she was causing trouble. We apologize again.”
Jared regarded Joseph with furrowed brows. “Why is my wife causing trouble, Joseph?”
“I’m so sorry, sir. I didn’t know she was your wife. I thought she was stalking you,” Joseph explained, his face turning pale in embarrassment.
“Just fire him. He isn’t a bit welcoming or, at the very least, courteous. An employee like him would only taint the company’s image,” Julia suggested blatantly.
Jared smiled and nodded at Julia. Then he turned to look back at Joseph. “You heard my wife. Clean up this mess, then clear up your desk afterward. I don’t want to see you again tomorrow. Is it clear?”
Joseph’s eyes brimmed with tears as he fell to his knees. He immediately regretted his actions that cost him his job.
“I have prepared several dishes you love.” Julia’s eyes beamed with joy as she showed the lunchbox to her husband. “Let’s eat this in your office.”
“I appreciate you coming here just to bring me food. Thank you so much, honey.” Jared took the lunchbox from Julia’s hands. “Let’s go.”
Seeing his boss‘ hands full, Joseph stood up from the floor and tried to ask Jared for the lunchbox to assist him. However, Jared ignored him and led Julia to the elevator.
Joseph could only watch his boss and his boss‘ wife as they both entered the lift. Honestly, they looked good together. If only he had realized that Julia was telling the truth, then maybe he didn’t have to lose his job.
At Jared’s office, Julia scanned the room as soon as they got inside. Even as they ate, she couldn’t rest her eyes from peeking all around the office. But Jared’s presence halted her plans. He had to leave so she could make her move. She also had to figure out a way to stay.
Meanwhile, Jared also didn’t want Julia to leave. He wanted to spend the rest of his day with her if only he didn’t have a meeting today. They both finished their meals, engrossed with their own thoughts.
After cleaning up the table, Julia let out a yawn, pretending to be sleepy. She met Jared’s gaze and explained. “I’m sorry about that, I just didn’t get to sleep well last night. Can I nap here for a moment?”
Jared was overjoyed upon thinking that she wouldn’t have to leave yet. However, he didn’t express

his excitement and just remained calm. “Sure, you can.”
Julia felt relieved. She didn’t expect things would go smoothly according to her plan. The problem was how was she going to make Jared leave. She lay down on the bed, her back turned on him as she racked her brain for ways to make him leave.
“I’ll be leaving you for a while, okay? I have a meeting at one. Just take a nap. I’ll be back before you know it. We’ll leave together later.”
Julia’s eyes
twinkled upon hearing him. “Okay,” she responded smilingly. It felt like the gods were assisting her with her plan.
She clutched her arm, pretending to be asleep, so he’d leave accordingly. But several minutes had passed and he still didn’t leave.
A soft knock sounded at the door. Without a word, Joseph entered Jared’s office, the way to. He immediately spotted Julia who was sleeping on the couch.

Jared, however, greeted him with a stern gaze. Joseph signaled to him that it was already time for the meeting. Jared got up and took off his suit, draping it over Julia to keep her warm, before leaving his office.
After making sure Jared was already gone, Julia sat up and stared at the suit jacket Jared used to cover her. She didn’t know what to feel about his sincerity.
Meanwhile, in the adjacent room, the board of directors exchanged confused glances as they regarded Jared who appeared without a suit jacket on. He always flaunted his expensive corporate suits whenever he went to work. The executives thought that maybe the heat was getting to him.
“Let’s start,” Jared announced, turning his gaze at the wall that connected the conference room to his office as if he would see Julia there.
The executives were perplexed at his action, except for Joseph, who was perfectly aware of Jared’s predicament. Seeing how his boss couldn’t concentrate, he secretly wished that he could see through the walls to see Julia in the other room.
On the other hand, Julia started rummaging through Jared’s office. Luckily, the soundproofing of the room was effective, allowing her to proceed cautiously.
Twenty minutes later, Julia had combed through nearly every inch of the office, but still, she couldn’t find what she was looking for.
‘Am I mistaken? Could it be that it wasn’t here?‘
Julia put her hands on her waist, her gaze sweeping the room. She then found a mysterious wooden box on top of a cabinet. Her gut told her that box contained important stuff, or else, why would it be hidden apart from the rest?
She pulled Jared’s swivel chair over and climbed on it, granting her a merely sufficient height to access the box. She discovered a bunch of documents inside upon leaning it to her and opening it.
‘Really!‘ she complained at the papers she found inside as she slipped her hand inside. She contemplated another possibility. Could the item be hidden underneath the box? Unfortunately for her, she wouldn’t be able to get to the bottom as it was huge and heavy for her to lift. She would have to lower the box first. As she tried to lift the box, the chair suddenly moved, prompting her to lose her balance. She staggered and grabbed onto something to stop herself from falling down the floor, dropping the box in the process. It tumbled on the floor with a loud crash. After a brief moment, she also fell on the floor with a loud thud.

The noise didn’t escapé Jared’s sensitive ears, despite the meticulous insulation of his office. He immediately turned to the wall of his office. Even the executives heard the sound. They thought someone had intruded into his office.
Jared’s stomach knotted in worry. He swiftly dashed out of the conference room and went to his office. There he saw Julia, sprawled on the floor, wincing as she rubbed her aching legs. The documents from the wooden box were scattered all over the floor as well as the box itself.
As their gazes met, panic welled her heart. ‘Shit! This isn’t good! What am I going to do?”
Her heart pounded fiercely. As anxiety coursed through her, Jared closed the gap between them with a few strides.
She instinctively flinched in fright, thinking he’d come at her.”
“I didn’t mean to-” she blurted, her mind racing for an explanation. ‘Come on, you dimwit of a brain! Think of a way out!”
Before she could devise a suitable justification, his hand extended toward her.
She felt guilty once more.
