Chapter 75 Shiloh Instigates Jared to Pounce on Julia
Julia’s eyebrows twitched upward, a hint of amusement lighting up her expression. Her guess was spot on.
“Exciting, huh? You mean the whole ‘relieving oneself indiscriminately thing?” Julia’s retort prompted a sudden hush on the other side of the line.
After an awkward pause that lasted a good dozen seconds, Joseph cleared his throat several times, trying to smooth out the weird vibes. “Uh, Madam, can we maybe pretend this call never
happened?
“Fine by me.”
“What do you mean, ‘fine by me?” Jared strolled up, spotting Julia holding his phone.
“Oh, it was just Joseph calling Figured it could be something important from the company, and since you
left your phone. I picked it up,” Julia explained with a nonchalant nod.
Joseph called Jared’s eyebrows knitted together.
Julia handed the phone back to Jared. The call was still ongoing, and Joseph had heard every word they just exchanged, leaving a pretty bitter taste in his mouth.
Holding the phone to his ear, Jared asked, “Did you say something?”
Joseph responded with a bitter tone “I thought it was you who answered the call…”
Julia sincerely looked at lared, her smile soft. “Thanks”
Seeing her smile, Jared couldn’t help but feel a weird warmth spread through him. His tone towards Joseph took on an unexpectedly gentle note.
“Alright, I understand”
“That’s it? It’s over just like that? Joseph felt like his world had been flipped upside down as the call dropped on his end. What really threw him for a loop wasn’t that Jared didn’t give him a hard time, but the way Jared had spoken to him, there was a strange tenderness to it.
Something must’ve gone down between Julia and his boss, Joseph reckoned. Otherwise, Jared would never be acting like this.
The scene shifted.
Munching a little popcorn, Julia realized Jared had only bought one bucket of popcorn.
“Why did you only buy one? Aren’t you going to eat?” she asked.
“Nah, not really my thing.”
Julia couldn’t ask more after that since the movie started.
“Got it.” She nodded and shifted her attention to the big screen. Her hand automatically reached into the popcorn bucket. But instead of popcorn, she picked up the guy’s hand.
Snapping her date with a surprised look, Julia found her fingers intertwined with his. “I thought you didn’t eat snacks?”
“Well, sometimes boredom calls for a little exception.” Jared pinched a piece of popcorn, popped it in his mouth, and chewed it casually while playfully toying with her fingers.
Indeed, just as Shiloh’s guide had suggested, the “accidental” touch of fingers felt quite pleasant. Just as he was thinking, Jared spotted Julia sipping on cola from the corner of his eye.
He wasn’t exactly a soda kinda guy, but if anything had to do with Julia, he could give it a whirl.

While sipping her drink, Julia noticed his gaze locked onto her. “You want some?”
Julia assumed he probably choked on popcorn. Otherwise, considering his usual eating habits, he wouldn’t be so interested in carbonated drinks.
Jared reached for the cola.
“I’ve had this before. It’s not sanitary. Let me buy you a different cup.”
Julia pulled the cola away, saying, “No need.”
But Jared was quite fast. He snatched the colas from her hand and took a sip.
“Hey, you should wipe the top first!” Julia reminded him.
‘At least give it a quick wipe” she screamed in her mind.
‘Guess he did choke on something she sighed.
Their fellow moviegoers then slowly filled the theater with gasps and screams as the movie built up to its exciting part.
Jared was low key keeping an eye on Julia, and her reaction was beyond what Shiloh’s guide had Covered.
She was unafraid, and Julia was leaning in, eyes wide operflike she wanted to glue them to the
screen.
Beep! A message popped in from Shiloh.
Hey bro, did Julia cling to you scared?]
Jared tapped out a reply.
[No. She’s super into it, not scared at all.]
After a brief thought, Shiloh sent back: [If she’s not taking the lead, you should. Act scared and cling to her.]
Seriously Jared’s lips twisted in disgust.
Him, a grown man, scared and pouncing on a girl in the cinema? Will he ever be able to face. people again?
Just as Jared was inwardly bashing the idea, the man in front of them suddenly lunged dramatically into the woman beside him.
“Oh my god‘ This is scary!” The guy shouted while practically nuzzling against the woman’s chest. How shameless! So vulgar!
After a beat, Jared slowly turned his head, glancing in Julia’s direction.
And as he looked, he couldn’t help but take a deep breath.
“Wah! I’m scared!” The guy in front kept up his act, his face still plastered against the woman.
Jared took another breath with a determined look in his eyes. Then, without losing a feat, he flung himself dramatically into Julia’s arms.
