Carter looked at Julia, who was lying on the ground. He felt his heart skip a beat before subconsciously raising his foot to move.
At that moment, Conrad rushed toward Julia and helped her get up.
“Julia, are you alright?” Conrad exclaimed, looking at her with worry.

“What do you mean you‘ re fine? You look so pale! I’ll take you to the hospital!”
“Conrad!” Julia protested and grabbed his shirt. She gave him a knowing look.
Conrad looked at her with confusion. But before he could understand what she meant, he felt Julia quietly pinching his waist as if sending him a message.
Conrad looked at her and nodded in understanding.
“I–I’m fine. I swear. You see, I lost too much blood before. My body suffered a lot, but I’m okay now. The doctor said that I should take more supplements. In seven… or maybe eight years… I–I’ll be fine completely,” Julia muttered in a weak and low voice. With a sad expression, she intentionally glanced at Vivien.
Carter quickly caught Julia’s eyes. He furrowed his brows and looked at Vivien. He couldn’t stop thinking about Julia’s words.
She said she suffered from losing a lot of blood. The doctor confirmed that she needed seven to eight years to recover.

“Probably not,” Carter replied. “I can count on my fingers the people who can afford that estate in Monroe City.” He then started to enumerate the top wealthy families in the city in his head.
“So, why did Julia go there?” Vivien asked. Her jealous eyes didn’t leave the gate of Villa 8. She thought she had the opportunity to show off to Julia. After all, she and Carter’s wedding room was in this beautiful Mulberry Garden. She wanted Julia to witness how much Carter adored her. That she owned his heart.
Obviously, seeing Julia enter the most expensive villa made her angry and bitter. Now, her plans of showing off to her former friend went down the drain.

Vivien sighed. She held her skirt and looked at him sensually. She slowly walked toward him, put her arms around his neck, and sat on his lap.
“What’s wrong, Carter? Julia’s miserable now. She lost you and her family. It’s a pity, of course. Otherwise, you can take her back.” She lowered her head. Her eyes glistened with sadness as she bit her lower lip.
Carter watched Vivien‘ s miserable state. Her worried appearance for Julia suddenly reminded him how the latter always yelled at Vivien.
