Chapter 48 Ex fiancé is Getting Married
“If I told you I’m self–taught, would you believe it?” Julia posed the question, a slight curve gracing her lips as she looked at Jared.
In truth, she wasn’t fabricating. Her piano skills were just one example – many of her talents were honed through self–guided learning. With an 10 exceeding 300, swift learning was almost second nature to her.
“It’s fine if you don’t want to disclose it,” Jared replied calmly.
Even before her piano performance, he had glimpsed her medical prowess on more than one occasion, leading him to suspect a connection to the fabled Divine Doctor Nonetheless, he recognized her reluctance to share these facets of her life, and he knew that pressing further. would be futile.
Julia’s lips curled into a playful smile. “Well, I’m being truthful Whether you believe it or not is up
to you”
Ten minutes later, they arrived home. As Julia stepped out of the car, she noticed Jared remained seated, unmoving.
“Why aren’t you getting out?”
“I have something to attend to. You go ahead.”
“Alright.”
After Julia departed, Jared addressed Joseph, instructing him, “Inform Neil that the company is planning to expand its operations in Africa. He’ll be in charge of the entire endeavor, and he’ll bear the consequences if any issues arise.”
“Understood, boss.”
Joseph couldn’t help but silently chuckle at the twist of fate. In the end, Neil had spoken Julia at the banquet – it seemed like karma had paid him a visit.

Meanwhile, Shiloh remained in the car, overhearing the conversation between Jared and loseph. He recalled Neil’s disparaging remarks about Julia during the event. At the time, he had been standing close to Neil, fully capturing the content of his words.
He never anticipated that his brother would invest such effort into Julia’s affairs behind the scenes. To him, it was a clear reflection of his brother’s genuine concern for Julia.
Admittedly, he hadn’t held Julia in high regard before. While he still didn’t hold any particular affection for her, he acknowledged the sheer beauty of the piano piece she had performed earlier at the gathering
Beyond that, her medical skills were impressive, and her culinary talents were noteworthy. Such an individual could be considered suitable for his brother
However, the crux of the matter lies beyond these aspects. Shiloh harbored suspicions about Julia’s true motives for entering their family
Pondering this, Shiloh glanced at his leg. He and his brother surmised that the orchestrator behind his assault likely hailed from the brooks Family
He conjectured that it might be their uncles, who had vied against his brother for the family head position – a competition his brother had ultimately triumphed in These individuals could harbor
vengeful intentions, aiming to wrest the headship from his brother’s grasp.
He realized he had been the initial target of their revenge plot. Were it not for the timely
intervention of a kind–hearted individual who transported him to the hospital, he might have met a far worse fate.
The state of his legs seemed inevitable now, but Shiloh’s current concern revolved around whether Julia’s presence had been orchestrated by those uncles.
Even if his brother had delved into the matter, it was improbable to uncover such a clandestine scheme. Yet, for Shiloh, even the slightest lapse in diligence could prove consequential.
Shiloh observed Julia’s entrance into the villa with resolute eyes.
He was determined to get to the bottom of this!
In the ensuing days, Cameron was conspicuously absent from the villa. Julia deduced that her actions had struck a chord with Cameron.
Just as Julia entertained these thoughts, a call from her best friend, Maddie, interrupted her musings.
“Julia, promise me you won’t cry.”
“Huh?” Julia hesitated for a moment. “Why would I cry?”
After all, she was leading a contented life now – what could possibly move her to tears?
“Carter, that scumbag, is seriously sick!” Maddie’s voice brimmed with anger. “After dumping you at the wedding, he’s now engaged to Vivien.”
“What? They’re getting married?”
“You hadn’t heard of it yet?”

Julia chuckled. “I have no stake in their lives anymore. Why would I care?”
Maddie, however, sensed that Julia’s apparent nonchalance was merely a facade concealing deeper emotions.
Her poor Yasmin was truly suffering!
Before Maddie could find the right words to console Julia, Julia’s voice sounded again in her ear. “Is Carter actually marrying Vivien?”
Maddie, hearing the question once more, realized that Julia truly was unaware of the situation. “On the 18th of this month, at the same venue as your previous wedding.”
Maddie’s voice dripped with frustration. “It must have been deliberately arranged by Vivien.” Julia concurred. Vivien’s intention was likely to humiliate her deliberately.
“Yasmin, let’s not give her the satisfaction. On the 18th, I’ll take you out to the bar. We’ll have a great time.” Maddie was deeply concerned that Julia might not cope well and might even contemplate suicide.
Julia glanced at the calendar, calculating that Carter and Vivien’s wedding was only nine days
away.
Staring at herself in the mirror, she playfully curled the dark hair near her temples, a faint smile gracing her otherwise cool demeanor.
“Don’t be silly. Carter is my ex–fiancé. If he’s getting married, it’s only right to offer my best wishes.”
Maddie, upon hearing this, grew alarmed.
“Yasmin, don’t be reckless! Even though Carter is despicable, remember the Ross family’s influence behind him! Your brother is still in the hospital, recovering from his injuries. If you stir up trouble, you’re bound to face dire consequences.”
“Who said I’m causing a scene? Didn’t I mention that I’ll be wishing them well? Even if the Ross Group has lost its sense of propriety, they can’t possibly shun a guest who genuinely extends blessings to the newlyweds.”
Julia had already decided to have Lincoln prepare something special in the next couple of days, intending to provide the blind man with a delightful surprise.
“Don’t fret, and I won’t do anything foolish.” Julia checked the time, realizing she was about to set her plans into motion.
“It’s getting late, and I didn’t sleep well last night. We’ll talk later.”
It was already 10:30 pm, and Jared was due to attend an important dinner. He wouldn’t be back until much later.
Moments ago, she had discreetly added a mild sleep aid to Shiloh’s medication, ensuring that he would be in a deep slumber. With him now likely sleeping like a log, she knew it was the opportune time for her to act.
Julia commenced her mission by heading to Jared’s study. Carefully observing the arrangement of items, she noted their precise positions before skimming through the documents. Afterward, she

meticulously returned everything to its original state, leaving no traces of her presence.
However, despite her efforts, Julia couldn’t locate the specific item she sought. Was it not in the study?
Her next stop was Jared’s room. While she had visited before and covertly taken into her surroundings, she hadn’t had the opportunity to explore thoroughly.
Upon entering Jared’s room. Julia embarked on a systematic search, her eyes scanning every corner as she tried to locate the concealed safe.
Ten minutes into her search, her gaze settled in the wardrobe. As she opened it, she discovered a collection predominantly consisting of identical black suits and white shirts.
The repetitiveness of his attire indicated a penchant for a structured routine, though Julia found this monotonous approach to dressing somewhat amusing.
As she was lost in these musings, one of the shirts slipped from her grasp and fell to the ground with an audible “snap.”
Alarm bells rang in Julia’s mind. The shirt had wrinkled due to her fumbling.
This was problematic as Jared had an evident aversion to disorder and wrinkled clothes. All his garments were immaculately pressed, free from any creases.
Realizing the potential consequences of her actions aroused his suspicions, Julia quickly smoothed out the shirt by hand, attempting to erase any trace of wrinkles.
Just then, the door swung open, and Jared’s deep voice resonated above her.
“What are you up to?”
