Chapter 268: Divorce? Forget about it in this lifetime
Julia felt a bit uneasy under his gaze, and the discomfort was even more pronounced for Madeline and the others.
Especially Cameron!
Julia had the audacity to say it, and Jared followed up with a resolute “no.”
Such certainty, without a hint of hesitation. How much aversion must he have to answer so unequivocally?
Cameron felt so provoked that she’closed her eyes and turned her head away.
She couldn’t bear to watch any longer. If she kept looking, she feared she wouldn’t be able to control herself and might rush over to confront Julia!
“Cough, cough.” Henry cleared his throat and took a few steps forward.
“Jared, I need to explain to you. The people who insulted Julia just now, I’m not really close to them. I didn’t invite them. They heard about this and came along.”
The individuals who had spoken ill of Julia just now were all quite frightened.. They had been led by Madeline and Cameron, and in the heat of the moment, they forgot about this part.
It was Jared’s business, whom he liked to be with. Even if Cameron was great, if Jared didn’t have feelings for her, they, as outsiders, had no right to interfere.
Feeling resentful in their hearts was one thing; airing those grievances aloud was another. But under Madeline’s influence just now, they blurted out their complaints without a filter.
As everyone’s hearts trembled, they discreetly glanced toward Jared.
Whether it was unintentional or coincidental, precisely at the moment they looked, Jared’s icy gaze swept over them.
Where his gaze landed, it seemed to morph into a palpable frost, sending shivers down their spines and causing their hairs to stand on end.
“There’s a flower patch over there. Let’s go there,” Julia suggested, uninterested in squandering time with these people and not wanting to let Jared waste his mood or expressions on them.
“Just wait a moment,” Jared meticulously straightened his sleeves. While doing so, he walked toward the people who had insulted Julia earlier.
“Jared… Jared, we… we…” Elora, the leader of the group that had insulted Julia the most, saw Jared, who looked like the King of Hell and was so frightened that his legs were trembling, causing him to constantly step back.
“Jared,” Julia reached out and grabbed Jared’s arm.
“It’s not necessary,” Julia shrugged.
“But they insulted you,” Jared furrowed his handsome brows.
“It doesn’t matter. To me, they are a bunch of irrelevant people,” Julia said, pausing for a moment. With a smile playing on her lips, she scanned the surroundings and continued, “A group of people with mouths but no brains.”
Julia’s words incited anger among the crowd.
“Who are you calling brainless?!” It was Madeline who said this.
Julia looked at Madeline with an expression that seemed to ask, “Are you serious?” “Isn’t it true? You were manipulated by someone and still don’t realize it. The puppeteer is silent, but you’re

barking. Is there something wrong with you for not having a brain?” Julia’s words prompted deep contemplation among many present. Manipulated?
Some of the more clear–headed individuals looked at Julia and then at Jared.
A handsome man and a beautiful woman standing together created a harmonious and beautiful
scene.
Anyone could clearly see Jared’s doting affection for Julia. And considering Julia and Jared were legally married, wasn’t it perfectly normal for them to cuddle and be affectionate in a small grove?
The more others contemplated, the more clarity they found.
“By the way, this couple is here for a private meeting. Isn’t it inappropriate for us outsiders to follow them?” After someone voiced this, it triggered further reflection among the crowd.
It seemed from the very beginning Cameron started pretending to be pitiful, almost on the verge of tears. Then Cameron’s best friends, Madeline and Elora, who regarded Cameron as a goddess, took her away and brought them here.
Reflecting on it, Jared and Julia realized they, too, were outsiders. As Julia had pointed out, they seemed to be idle busybodies interfering in other people’s matters.
With this realization, their gazes toward Cameron became perplexed.
Cameron kept her head down, remaining silent. Besides maintaining her act of distress, she had no other recourse.
Fortunately, she had Madeline, her loyal yet misguided friend.
“Why are you all giving Cameron such judgmental looks? She’s the innocent victim here!” Madeline fiercely defended her.
Upon hearing Madeline’s words, Cameron promptly shed a tear, turned around, and ran, projecting an air of utter despair.
Seeing this scene, the expressions of the crowd once again turned complex.
“Julia clicked her tongue, withdrew her gaze from the retreating Cameron, and
ared. “After we part ways in the future, feel free to marry whomever you like. Just not Cameron. She’s a two–faced hypocrite, projecting one image in public and rivate.”
hadn’t run far, and Julia’s words weren’t exactly hushed. Cameron, hearing this, was ed to the point of nearly spitting blood.
Cursed in her heart, “You’re the hypocrite! Your whole family is!”
ared’s deep, ocean–like eyes grew cold as he looked at Julia, a mix of anger and restraint in his gaze.
“Part ways? Not in this lifetime.”
Julia chose not to argue with Jared on this topic. After all, she had only mentioned it casually.
Moreover, the contract she had signed with the man was for one year, and now two months have already passed.
“Let’s go. The flowers over there are blooming beautifully.”
“Alright.”

When Jared sensed Julia was about to release his hand, he immediately held on firmly.
This woman, both endearing and exasperating–did she think he didn’t notice? When she held–his hand just now, it was to deliberately provoke Cameron and put on a show for those people.
Now that she was done using it, she was going to let go of his hand.
Did she even ask him?
Asking wouldn’t make a difference; he wouldn’t agree.
Julia knew she couldn’t break free, so she decided not to waste her energy.
Soon, the two of them arrived at a hill covered in wildflowers, hand in hand.
“These wildflowers may not be as delicate as the ones in the park, but they have their own unique charm.”
As she spoke, Julia’s eyes lit up.
“You can let go of my hand now.”
Jared held on tightly.
“Only three minutes.” Implicit in his words was discontent.
Julia remained silent.
Did it really have to be measured so precisely?
Julia noticed that Jared was generally quite generous, but when it involved her, especially when taking advantage, he was meticulous.
Just like earlier–only three minutes, and he found it too short.
“I want to create something, and you’re holding my hand. I can’t possibly crochet with just one hand.”
Upon hearing Julia’s words, Jared finally let go of her hand.
But a little compensation was needed.
As Jared released Julia’s hand, he quickly planted a fleeting kiss at the corner of her mouth. Julia did not utter any words.
She touched the corner of her mouth, where Jared had lightly kissed her, her beautiful eyes wide open, displaying three parts annoyance as she stared at Jared.
This man-
He’s absolutely unbelievable.
Just a moment ago, she was silently complaining to herself about how this guy always meticulously counted when it came to her, especially when it involved taking advantage of her.
“Look!”
After Julia regained her composure, she rolled her eyes at the man and squatted down to pick flowers and started weaving.
She didn’t really think about what to create, so she randomly wove a ring.
And why a ring?
This is probably because rings are small, require fewer materials, and are easy to weave. “Jared, do you think it looks nice? Would you like to try it on?”
