Chapter 250: Shine Brilliantly and Amaze the Audience
Vivien paused and thought for a moment.
It might not be a good idea for her to do such a thing. It could very well raise suspicion from
Carter.
All of a sudden, an idea flashed in her mind. She leaned closer to Candace and whispered, “I remember Julia mentioned before that she also learned to play the piano.”
Candace, who was still seething with anger, turned to Vivien. Her eyes lit up, suddenly thinking of an idea from Vivien‘ s “innocent” remark.
“Julia,” Candace called out. “I heard that you can also play the piano. Why don’t you show us your skills? Just one song, please?”
Julia can play the piano as well?‘ Carter thought in surprise before looking at Julia. ‘But I never heard her mention about this before.‘
He tilted his head, still wondering. When did she learn to play the piano? Perhaps she took piano lessons during her stay with the Watson family? Even so, if she didn’t mention it, it probably meant she had only learned the basics and couldn’t perform on stage.
Julia’s eyes settled on Vivien and Candace‘ s delighted expressions. A faint smile appeared on her face. She could easily guess their intention: to humiliate her.
At first, she didn’t want to deal with these two clowns, but since they insisted on challenging her, it would seem like she was letting them down if she didn’t do their silly dare.
“Alright. Since you insist, I’ll play a piece for you,” Julia replied and stood up. All eyes were on her as she marched to the stage.
Vivien bit her lip, unable to contain her excitement. Julia had been walking all over her for a long time, so now was her time to see Julia embarrass herself.
How could she not be thrilled?
“All bark and no bite,” Candace hissed as she crossed her arms. Her brow was raised as she stared at Julia. In her eyes, Julia was just acting. She didn’t believe that she could actually play the piano.
She deemed Julia worthless, which was why she had disliked and bullied her in the past. She didn’t want to have a useless sister–in–law!
Julia sat on the piano seat and rested her slender fingers on the keys. Her long, straight hair cascaded down her shoulders. She sat there quietly, like a painting that captivated everyone s
attention.
“Woah. Julia is utterly beautiful. Look at her, sit there, and just be gorgeous,” A male employee whispered to his friend.
He perfectly voiced out the exact thought on Carter’s mind. Regardless of how Julia’s performance would turn out, the way she sat there was mind–blowing. She was incredibly enchanting.
Vivien turned her head and caught Carter staring at Julia intently. Regret instantly washed over her.
She wished she didn’t challenge Julia. She had already succeeded in impressing Carter with her performance, but Julia immediately overshadowed her.
As soon as Julia played the piano, everyone in the room, musically inclined or not, couldn’t help

but sigh in amazement.
Beautiful music could move people, and Julia‘ s performance of the Moonlight Sonata. transported the audience to heaven. Some women even shed a few tears.
Who played it better?
It was clear who had the upper hand.
At that moment, the excitement on Vivien‘ s face completely deflated. All she wanted was to make fun of Julia. Now, she had become the one being laughed at!
She wasn’t aware that Julia actually knew how to play the piano and, worse, be good at it.
Vivien secretly glanced at Carter again. Without a doubt, the man was completely captivated by Julia. His eyes never left the stage.
Anger rose in Vivien‘ s heart. She wished she could slap herself in the face. This was her fault! She completely captured Carter’s attention earlier. But now, Julia had completely stolen Carter’s attention!
After the piano performance, the lingering melody filled the room. Everyone, including Carter, found it difficult to come back to reality from the moving performance they had just witnessed.
A few seconds later, Carter stepped forward. He took slow steps towards Julia.
Meanwhile, Vivien was already on the verge of tears. Desperate and panicking, she clutched her stomach and screamed!
“Ah! It hurts!”
Carter stopped in his tracks. He reluctantly took his eyes off Julia and turned to Vivien.
“Vivien, what’s wrong?”
Vivien tightly pressed her lips as if enduring the pain. “I think I‘ m exhausted.”
“Okay. I’ll help you rest,” Carter replied and worriedly looked at her stomach.
“Okay.” Vivien gently nodded her head.
Carter helped Vivien walk to a nearby sofa. After a while, Carter turned his gaze back to Julia, unable to resist the temptation.
Julia was still sitting by the piano. She didn’t leave the stage immediately and let her fingers tap the keys.
“This piano is quite nice.”
Vivien definitely spent a lot of money on this piano for her performance.
Julia was busy thinking about the piano when she suddenly heard Candace‘ s voice from the
crowd.
“I get it now, Julia. Did you practice this piece for several years? Isn’t it too coincidental that you played the same song?”
-Still challenging me?‘ Julia inwardly rolled her eyes. She lifted her gaze and gave Candace a
blank look.
People who had no talent often bark the loudest. She didn’t need to waste her voice on Candace. She could simply let her actions speak for herself.
With that in mind, Julia didn’t hesitate any longer. In fact, she loved playing the piano. Since she had the chance and felt a bit excited to play, she decided to play another piece.

Her long fingers touched the piano once again. This time, she played Schubert‘ s “Ave Maria,” a popular classic piece.
The melody was powerful and breathtaking, leaving everyone in awe. It wasn‘ t the performance of an ordinary pianist but that of a true master.
Vivien and Candace were left dumbfounded. They were thoroughly crushed by Julia once again.
On the other hand, Carter was completely drawn in by Julia’s performance. Suddenly, he felt a deep sense of regret.
If only he had known earlier that Julia possessed such talents, perhaps…
As if in a daze, Carter slowly stood up and walked toward Julia once again.
“Ouch… My stomach hurts, Carter,” Vivien cried behind him.
To Vivien’s surprise, Carter didn’t stop. It was as if he didn’t hear her. His eyes were solely fixed on Julia. His ears couldn’t hear anything but the sound of the piano.
