Chapter 219: Is Vivien Pregnant?
Carter’s inquiry sent shivers down Vivien’s spine, particularly when she caught Lilian’s gaze fixated on her. Vivien was besieged by three waves of disbelief and three torrents of doubt.
have to
“It’s not me, I swear! It was all a scheme concocted by Julia himself! Carter, Mom, you trust me, please, please trust me?” Vivien’s voice trembled, tears streaming down her cheeks. However, this time, Carter didn’t offer his usual comforting embrace; instead, he scrutinized her with suspicion, searching for the faintest hint of deception on her face.
Carter’s behavior threw Vivien into a state of sheer panic. Desperation drove her to an unconventional solution.
“Alright, alright, you don’t believe me anymore, what’s the point of my existence?” Vivien uttered, her voice tinged with resignation.
Upon hearing this, Lilian grew anxious. “Vivien, don’t say such things!”
Vivien managed a wry smile, her hand resting on her swollen abdomen. “My poor child, you’ll have to depart before even being born. I’m sorry; I felt cornered, with no way out. Death seems to be my only escape. I hope you can forgive me.”
Vivien’s words sent shockwaves through the room, and all eyes turned toward her belly. She was pregnant? Just as everyone contemplated this revelation, Vivien made a sudden move, attempting to collide with the wall.
“Stop her!” Lilian shouted.
Before Lilian’s plea was even voiced, Carter dashed over, preventing Vivien from hitting the wall.
“Carter, let me go! You don’t believe me anymore; just let me go!” Vivien’s emotions fluctuated wildly, as if she had been wronged by the universe.
Seeing Vivien in this state, Carter’s suspicions gradually dissipated. Lilian also rushed over and held onto Vivien.
“Vivien, we may doubt you, but that doesn’t mean we want you to harm yourself. We’re family, and even if we’ve made a mistake, we won’t resort to suicide. Think about the innocent child inside
you. You’re going to be a mother soon, and you have a responsibility to that child,” Lilian implored.
Vivien pretended to be stunned, then sank to the ground, cradling her stomach and sobbing. Amidst her tears, she muttered to herself, “I’m sorry, my baby. It’s your selfish mother’s fault. I’m
sorry…
Since your
father no longer wants you, I’ll raise you on my own.”
Vivien knew Carter’s temperament well, understood his pride, and his reluctance to admit mistakes. Speaking those words in front of him was a calculated move.
As expected, Carter felt a profound sense of guilt upon hearing her words. He had chosen Vivien initially because of her kindness and thoughtfulness, and he had always trusted his own judgment Having made a decision, he felt compelled to stand by it. He couldn’t afford to be wrong!
Just then, Henry intervened. “I came here to take Vivien away and make amends to my wife, not to witness a spectacle.”
Carter turned to Henry. “Mr. Henry, my wife is pregnant. Can you spare her?”
Henry’s gaze fell on Vivien’s belly, and he smirked. “How cruel. I’m already a mother, but you nearly caused harm to my wife.”
“Th–this…”
“I won’t accept any apologies!” Henry cut off Carter and pointed at Vivien. “You should apologize to my
wife immediately. If you don’t, I have plenty of ways to bankrupt the Ross Corporation you came here for.
Henry’s words left Carter and his family shocked and trembling.
“The Ross Corporation may be on the fast track to success, but when it crosses paths with my company, Xonix Film and Television Economic Company, it falls short in the competition. I can. assure you that your Ross Corporation will find itself bankrupt within a mere month if I decide to expedite matters. In the upper echelons of Monroe City, who dares to defy me and the Ross family? That’s not all; consider this: my esteemed brother holds the reins of the influential Brooks wealthy clan. With a simple call to him, he’ll readily join forces with me. Imagine the formidable. partnership we would constitute. Given this scenario, which other businesses that have affiliations with you do you think would dare to extend their support?”
As Henry’s words flowed, an escalating fear settled over Carter and the others. They grasped that Henry’s statements weren’t mere empty words; they carried the weight of impending
consequences if Vivien didn’t offer an apology.
Lilian directed her gaze toward Vivien and attempted to ease the situation. “Vivien, this is becoming quite a predicament for you. After all, the fault lies with you, and an apology is due. Don’t fret, you’re pregnant and won’t be in any danger.”
Lilian’s words served as a subtle plea to Henry for clemency. In truth, Lilian’s reminder was hardly necessary; Henry had no intention of harming Vivien. He was now a father of three, and this was merely a means to accrue some good karma for his growing family.
The scene shifted.
Maddie wandered through the opulent Purple Garden Manor’s first–grade villa area, her residence. since living with Conrad. As she meandered, she spotted Vivien approaching.
“Julia, look, it’s Vivien. Is she causing trouble for you again?” Maddie observed Vivien warily, and Julia joined in scrutinizing her. Yet, Julia didn’t believe Vivien had malicious intent.
Just when Julia entertained this thought, a surprise unfolded. Vivien dropped to her knees in front of Maddie.
“I’m sorry, I shouldn’t have tripped you. I was wrong!” Vivien not only knelt but also kowtowed before Maddie.
What on earth?
Maddie lifted her head and glanced westward. Was the sun rising in the west today? Vivien, of all people, was apologizing and even kowtowing
“Julia, can you believe this? Or am I trapped in a dream?” Maddie questioned in disbelief.
Julia reached out and pinched Maddie’s cheek.
“Ouch, that hurts! Julia, you’re ruthless! You pinched me so hard; my face is swelling!” Maddie protested while covering her face.
Julia examined Maddie’s face. To be honest, during the past few months of pregnancy, Henry had been pampering Maddie with bird’s nest, caviar, and various supplements. Maddie’s face had indeed plumped up compared to before.
“I apologize! I’m really sorry! Please forgive me,” Vivien continued to kowtow, her hand resting on her belly. “I’m pregnant too. Please forgive me.”
“You’re pregnant as well?” Maddie stared at Vivien’s belly. Being a mother herself, Maddie didn’t

wish to engage in further conflict with Vivien.
“Indeed, I’m pregnant,” Vivien began, but Julia cut her off before she could finish her sentence. “Ha! Are you pregnant with air? Vivien, are you attempting the same ruse again? What’s next, fake blood packs?” Julia retorted skeptically.
