Chapter 212: Julia Should Not Go To The Hospital For Life Or Death
Julia knew she could not go to the hospital because she would be exposed. “I’m fine… I feel much better,” she said.
“That’s good. But we’re still going to make sure nothing is wrong that we need to be aware of,” Jared said, holding her belly and caressing her face alternately.
“No. J–jared… I’m feeling okay now. I just… need some rest I think,” Julia insisted, trying to make them go home instead of the hospital.
As soon as Julia finished speaking, she noticed Jared’s gaze fell to her lap. Her legs were covered with half–dried blood, which wasn’t convincing.
“-She was a little scared of what might be happening inside her stomach, but Julia chose not to make it evident in her facial expression. She racked her brain and came up with a silly excuse.
“Actually, I… I wasn’t ashamed to admit it just now.” At that moment, Julia had an idea and thought of a good solution. “I’m on my period,” Julia said, suppressing her blush.
Julia believed her acting skills could win her a Best Actor Award. The queen of the Golden Horse Awards could win awards, and her performance was so convincing that Jared believed it.
Jared didn’t say anything at first. He just stared at her while gently rubbing her belly. Then he asked, “Why is there so much blood? I’ve never seen you bleed this much before.”
Julia was shocked at Jared’s statement. She gulped and moved her head a little, feeling anxious. Joseph, who was driving, knew something was off but remained silent. He knew that Julia shouldn’t stay in the car or go home at that moment. They need to see a doctor.
Finally, Julia thought of an idea again to back up her story. “I forgot that I indulged this morning and had an iced drink at the dessert shop. It must have caused this.”
Jared was still doubtful, but what Julia said made sense. Some women just bleed a lot on their period days. Stress and anxiety might also be the cause.
Julia might be stressed about what happened in the old house. In addition, she ate cold foods that caused her to bleed and had a painful reaction on her belly.
Jared stretched out his hand to cover Julia’s lower abdomen and said in a slightly reproachful tone. “Please don’t take risks like this in the future. This place needs to be well protected.” His lifelong happiness depended on it. “I’ll have to rely on this place to give birth to our baby in the future,” he added.
Julia and Joseph couldn’t believe how Jared’s words turned sour. “Boss, we’ve arrived at the hospital,” Joseph said to calm his boss.
Jared looked at Julia. “Let’s go and have a check–up.”
Julia refused to get out of the car. “I can’t go like this. Besides, I’m a doctor and don’t like to brag, but I’m second to none in medicine.”
Julia considered herself very modest and rarely boasted, but she exaggerated to avoid going to the hospital this time.
After Julia said that, she noticed Jared looking at her with a puzzled and probing gaze, making her uneasy.
“Why are you looking at me like that?” Julia wondered.
“Do you really not want to go?” Jared asked.

Julia vigorously shook her head. “I promise I’m fine. If I’m lying, may I be cursed!”
Now, Jared truly believed her, not just because of her words but also because Julia had cured. Shiloh’s leg, a medical miracle no other doctor could achieve.
“One last time, are you sure you feel better now and want to go home?” Jared reassuringly asked.
Julia nodded. Jared could only sigh and tell Joseph, “Turn around, and let’s go home.”
Joseph, adamant about turning around with Julia’s condition, had second thoughts. But in the end, they went home.
As Jared pondered, Julia’s previous words echoed in his mind.
“In the field of medicine, I’m second to none. No one dares to claim the top spot.”
Jared’s eyes bore into Julia’s, and a few seconds later, he held her head gently against his shoulder.
“You rest now,” he said.
Julia yawned and closed her eyes, feeling safe against his shoulder.
Later, she was startled awake. “Oh no!” Julia exclaimed.
Just as she was about to fall asleep, she remembered what she had said in the car earlier.
“In the field of medicine, I’m second to none. No one dares to claim the top spot.”
It was an identity from her previous life, the Divine Healing Hand. Julia worried that Jared had realized her true identity.
“Probably not,” Julia reassured herself, thinking she didn’t fit the image of an esteemed elderly miracle doctor.
From the world’s perspective, a miracle doctor is typically envisioned as a venerable elderly figure, likely in their sixties to eighties. Given Julia’s age, it would seem implausible in ordinary circumstances, and her claims might appear boastful.
Despite this realization, Julia tried to reassure herself not to dwell on it too much. After calming her anxious thoughts, she tenderly rubbed her lower abdomen. She acknowledged her recent carelessness and resolved to act more cautiously.
This Saturday, she planned to accompany Maddie for a prenatal check–up. She remembered a pharmacy near the hospital where she could purchase supplements for the fetus.
“You’ll be fine,” she whispered to her stomach while rubbing it.
A tired yawn escaped Julia as she rubbed her heavy eyelids. The day had been exhausting, with significant blood loss, and she could barely keep her eyes open. Before long, Julia succumbed to sleep.
While Julia peacefully slumbered, the door creaked open slowly from the outside. Jared entered quietly, closing the door with great care. He glanced at Julia in her slumber and approached her bedside without making a sound. His hand moved gently to her forehead, confirming her average body temperature.
Jared then carefully lifted the corner of the quilt, inspecting the girl’s pajamas and pants. The apricot–colored clothing remained unstained by the bright red blood, to his relict. A sigh of relief escaped him, realizing there was no further bleeding.
With this thought in mind, Jared retrieved a pregnancy test stick from his pocket, initially intended for use that night. However, he decided against it, recognizing Julia’s current condition. Jared chose to save it for a more appropriate time, planning to seize another opportunity with her.

In the previous encounters, he had deliberately concealed his true abilities, which led to his defeat by Henry.
As Jared prepared to leave, something caught his eye in the bathroom. He lifted his foot and headed toward it. Squatting down, he retrieved the pants and underwear that Julia had changed before going to bed.
After a brief pause, Jared collected the soiled garments and walked out. Shiloh, Julia’s brother, looked at the clothes in Jared’s hands suspiciously, recognizing them as Julia’s. He couldn’t fathom why Jared was carrying them.
“Brother? What are you?” Shiloh looked at the clothes in Jared’s hands suspiciously. Aren’t those Julia’s clothes? What was his brother doing with Julia’s clothes?
Jared smiled awkwardly at him and thought for any reason, but his mouth spoke faster than how his brain worked.
Jared ended up saying, “The clothes are dirty. I’ll go
wash them.”
Then, he took a basin and put it in the bathroom, intending to clean the clothes for Julia, his thoughts a whirlwind of complicated emotions and a growing curiosity about Julia’s condition.
