Chapter 171: Julia and Cameron Fight
Cameron’s gaze affixed to the Little Jade Statue in Julia’s grasp, disbelief evident in their eyes. “This belongs to Jared. He always wore it when he was a child. How is it in your possession?” Cameron’s expression twisted, resembling a person who’d suffered a severe blow.
Julia turned, meeting Cameron’s gaze head–on. Cameron’s contorted features held a hint of rage, distorted as if they’d been through a rough encounter.
What’s the fuss about? It’s a mere Little Jade Statue, a trinket from Jared’s childhood. Did she look like she had a voracious appetite for people?
Unbeknownst to Julia, her past involved being banished from the villa by Jared as a child. The very touch of the Little Jade Statue had earned her expulsion, even when Yannie vouched for her. So, when Julia spotted the pendant around her neck, she unconsciously drifted back to that childhood scene, when she was barred from the villa for an entire month.
“I get it now! You must’ve stolen it!”
Yes, that must be it!
While she acknowledged Jared’s differential treatment of Julia, Cameron couldn’t fathom him lavishing her with such favor as to hand over the Little Jade Statue. Even her, his childhood sweetheart, couldn’t come into contact with it.
Therefore, Julia must have pilfered it.
“I’ve had enough of this.” Julia gazed at Cameron, words eluding her as she closed her eyes, relishing the afternoon sun.
The gentle sway of the swing entwined with light and shadow, as Julia allowed herself a moment of respite, momentarily unburdened.
Cameron lingered, her already contorted face taking on an even eerier appearance. Her molars ground together with increasing intensity.
The tipping point finally arrived.
Lost in a maelstrom of emotion, Cameron’s sanity slipped. In a reckless motion, she tore the Little Jade Statue from Julia’s neck.
A sharp hiss escaped Julia’s lips, her hand flying to her neck before snapping her head around to fix Cameron with a piercing gaze.
“You’re deranged!” Julia’s voice dripped with disbelief, the sun’s warmth juxtaposed with her icy
tone.
Cameron, with the Little Jade Statue clutched tightly, departed without a backward glance. Taking a deep breath, Julia’s starry eyes narrowed, radiating frostiness.
Cameron’s actions had pushed her to the brink. She’d initially harbored suspicions that Cameron was somehow tied to Maddie’s plight. Yet, now she had stolen the Little Jade Statue.
Very well, if you’re determined to cross that line….
In an instant, Julia vaulted into motion, obstructing Cameron’s path.
Cameron eyed Julia warily. “What are you-”
Before Cameron could conclude, Julia’s palm met her cheek in a resounding slap.
The impact reverberated through the air, punctuated by the sharp sound of applause. Cameron

staggered, pain etched across her features as she crumbled to the ground. “Ahhhh–it hurts, damn it-”
Unfazed by Cameron’s cries, Julia seized the Little Jade Statue.
Cameron’s glare seethed with fury. “It’s mine! Give it back!”
Julia raised her hand, the item clutched within its grasp. “This is yours.” Concluding her words, Julia unleashed another slap across Cameron’s cheek. This act was partially driven by Maddie’s slap, but irrespective of whether Cameron was involved in the incident from two nights prior, she also deserved this for the discord they had in the bar. Cameron clutched both sides of her face, a mirror conspicuously absent. She could feel her once–petite visage had swelled substantially.
“Julia, I hope you die!” Cameron rose from the ground, her manners and decorum abandoned. Long nails extended like talons, aiming to rend Julia’s face asunder.
Expression unchanging, Julia’s foot met Cameron’s lower abdomen. “Ah-” Cameron’s scream punctuated her tumble to the ground.
The scene unfolded amidst a commotion. Jared and Shiloh happened upon this spectacle as they hurried over.
“What’s going on?” Jared questioned with a furrowed brow.
Jared retracted his arm from Cameron’s grip, displaying clear distaste, and approached Julia.
Cameron, witnessing this, shot a triumphant glance at Julia. She dared to strike someone but had been caught by Jared. Let’s see how she explained herself this time.
A faint frown knit Julia’s brow. She recognized Jared’s kindness towards her, yet Cameron was his godmother’s daughter and a cherished childhood companion. This unforgiving beating was a blow to Jared’s dignity.
However…
Even if circumstances repeated, she’d still take a stand against Cameron.
Before Jared could reach her, she preemptively declared, “I hit her, and she deserved it.”
Jared halted, his advance ceasing. “Refrain from future actions like this.”
Cameron revelled in her smugness, offering Julia a provocative gaze.
Julia pursed her lips, a pang of remorse settling in. After a moment of silence, she prepared to address both Jared and Cameron, but Jared spoke first.
“If there’s someone you wish to strike next time, just let me know. I’ll handle it for you.” Jared’s affectionate gaze lingered on the girl before him, as if she were his entire world.
Julia’s pupils dilated, a newfound radiance illuminating them. The icy lake within her heart began to thaw, transformed into a gentle spring, rippling under the warmth of the sun.
Cameron’s jaw practically hit the floor. She’d anticipated Jared would exact retribution on her behalf. After all, her swollen face served as testament to the ordeal she’d endured at Julia’s hands. How had the narrative veered in this direction?
Shiloh arched an eyebrow. What had begun as a tense drama had transformed into a melodramatic soap opera, leaving one to ponder the fate of the tormented dogs.
“Do you…
do
you not blame me for hitting her?” Julia couldn’t help but ask.
“There must be reasons behind your actions.” Jared’s unwavering gaze bore into Julia’s, exuding

trust and determination.
The trust he placed in her was immeasurable.
In this moment, the heart’s lake within Julia surged.
“But what if there’s no reason?” Julia probed further.
“In that case, it doesn’t matter. Do as you like.”
Jared’s response left Julia flabbergasted. Could he truly be so indulgent?
Then again, was he intent on pampering her beyond the heavens?
“Jared, if you keep this up, I might-” Julia’s sentence hung unfinished as the man’s hand suddenly moved, unzipping her attire and tearing open her neckline.
What was he doing? In broad daylight, amidst a crowd of people, he intended to engage in such
actions?
“What happened to your neck?!” Jared’s usually icy countenance tightened, eyes locked on the bloodstains adorning Julia’s neck.
The vivid crimson bloodstains contrasted starkly against her pristine skin.
Julia’s mind snapped back to the present. Evidently, the abrupt rending of her clothes stemmed from this issue.
Julia raised a hand to touch her neck, experiencing a faint tingling sensation that discomforted her.
“Who did this?!” Jared’s voice rose with anger, the ferocity of his tone palpable.
“Ahh-” Startled by Jared’s ire–filled voice, Cameron audibly swallowed, retreating two steps.
