Chapter 147: Julia is Shy Mona (Mona)
Jared’s pupils shone brightly. He turned his head and looked towards the door. He saw a girl coming in through the door, the smile on her face immaculate. The woman was so beautiful that it made him feel as if he was dreaming.
Jared tried to get up from under the blanket, but before he could make a move, Julia had already walked to the bedside to feel his forehead with her hand. The heat from her hand made his heartbeat rise, simultaneously letting him know that this wasn’t a dream. She stayed and took care of him overnight. Even tiredness was evident in Julia’s eyes.
“Rest some more,” Julia said while feeling his pulse. “Good thing the medicine seemed to take effect even if I only studied it last night,” she added, drowsiness kicking in. Julia couldn’t help yawning.
“I’m fine now. You go and take a rest this time,” Jared said, frowning his brows.
Julia shook her head and helped the man up from the bed. “Don’t worry about me. I need to take a sample of your blood first so I can see how your body is reacting to the medicine. How are you feeling so far?”
Jared didn’t answer the question and asked instead, “Do you know the owner of this hospital?”
He thought about this carefully because Julia seemed really casual about doing such duties. “Yeah, let’s just say he’s my friend,” Julia said, thanking herself for being friends with Ethan.
Julia’s answer surprised Jared. “Your friend?”
“Yes.”
“You have lots of friends,” Jared said, his eyes rather calm.
Julia smiled embarrassingly, “I know. I’m born friendly, I guess.”
Jared stared at her and didn’t speak any longer, so Julia cleared her throat. “Let me take your blood first.”
After successfully extracting blood from Jared, Julia suddenly felt like there was something wrong with her body. A sudden twist of her stomach made her world halt.
“What’s wrong?” Jared noticed immediately, thinking, Is she in pain? Her abdomen seems to hurt. Is she on her period? Wait, no… It’s not her time of the month yet.”
Upon hearing his question, Julia remembered what happened last night. She blushed, recalling the night filled with love. It seemed like they were both inexperienced, but the passion was immaculate. Jared took over last night, and it might‘ ve taken a toll on the woman.
Julia’s face turned even redder. Just like Maddie, she took contraceptive pills to keep things safe. While she was in a trance, she suddenly felt the man’s palm against her belly.
It felt as though she was about to burst when she saw his eyes looking over at her. “Are you in pain?”
She took a step back, stammering the words, “N–No. I’m okay.”
As her heartbeat rose, her distance from him grew wider. She didn’t want him to know that she was rattled. It would be so embarrassing!
“Maybe it’s just a cold. Anyway, I’ll get tested just to make sure. Bye for now…” she said, quickly fleeing the scene, leaving Jared watching over her back like a confused puppy.

Chapter 147: Julia is Shy Mona (Mona)
*Does she hate my touch that much?‘ he wondered sadly.
He let out a deep sigh, recalling what happened. At that instance, he couldn’t help but picture Carter and Julia together. Admittedly, it made him lose control, and an ounce of jealousy started to fester in his heart.
Perhaps, it was the high fever that ignited his needs, and thinking about it now made him realize that she was destined to be his woman. He wouldn’t allow her to escape ever.
His eyes were pinned on the door, thinking, ‘She was limping like a rugged doll. Is she really okay?‘
After a short period of silence, Jared walked outside. He didn’t even get far, and he already saw Julia. However, she was right next to Carter. They’re together again.
‘This can’t be… he thought, approaching the two and discreetly eavesdropping.
Julia and Carter were looking at each other, confusion written all over their faces.
“Have you been following me? This can’t be a coincidence,” Carter assumed, and although he acted annoyed, the truth is, he felt quite joyous.
Julia rolled her eyes, wanting to scoff. “I would never.”
After saying that, Julia was about to walk away, but as soon as she moved, Carter held her arm. “Why don’t you just admit it?”
“Admit what?!”
‘Admit that you can’t let me go.”
This time, Julia laughed loud, disbelief written in her expression.
“Goddamn, Carter! I have no idea where you got the audacity to assume that. For once, stop being so narcissistic, will you? Listen, I don’t love you, okay?! So, stop thinking of shit like that. It’s giving me secondhand embarrassment.” Julia’s tone was sharp, and one would know that her words came from the deepest depths of her heart.
Carter took a deep breath, clenched his fists tightly, and pursed his lips. He had an ugly expression, but Julia just pushed him away.
“Get out of the way and let me go. I have something more important to do than waste my time on you.” She stepped away, and Carter could only watch from behind, his body shaking with anger.
“How dare you, Julia?!”
Julia looked back at Carter and said in a very disgusted tone, “Ew! Don’t call me by my name. It’s creepy as hell.”
“The fuck is wrong with you? You‘ re getting worse. I can’t believe the once sweet and gentle girl would turn out to be this bitchy. Curse you!”
Julia paused from her steps and gave him a cold glare. “Well, that was before when I had to please you, but things are different now, Carter. I’m no longer your meek fiancee, so don’t expect any ounce of kindness from me. You‘ re a stranger.”
Carter‘ s jaw dropped, not knowing what to say. Indeed, Julia is no longer his fiancée, and she has nothing to do with him now. Whether she acts kind or not, it’s none of his business. It felt as though cold water was poured over him, and with it were bouts of depressing realizations.
Just then, Julia’s voice sounded again. “Oh, wait! I know why you‘ re here now. It’s because Vivien hurt herself again. Ha… I know how sensitive she is, after all. I’m sure she’s blaming me for it,

though, right?”
As soon as Julia finished speaking, Carter frowned. In his eyes, she seemed like a villain who would never trust a man again and would keep ridiculing him forever.
Amidst his silence, Julia added, “Guess I’m right. How smart of me…”
Carter let out a sigh. “I’m not dumb. I know it wasn’t you.”
The woman clicked her tongue, giggling like a victorious kid. “Sure, you‘ re not dumb, Carter, but you‘ re still blind. You never change.”
“What are you-”
Julia cut him off, a devilish grin painted on her beautiful face. “You‘ re blind because this time, really is my fault.”
