Chapter 131: This is the Password
Julia’s brows furrowed, confused. ‘What did he say?‘
Her pupils instantly dilated as she locked gazes with Jared’s deep, ocean–like eyes. It felt like she was drowning in them.
Her lips parted in a daze, wanting to follow his bidding and say “yes.”
Just as Julia was about to completely lose control of herself, Jared cast a smile. “Give me the key.”
Julia froze for a second. “The what?”
‘I thought he was asking for something else… Why is he asking for a key?‘
‘What key?‘
Julia paused. ‘Could it be…”
Julia’s cheeks suddenly turned red. She looked at Jared with wide eyes. Her expression was filled with nothing but shock and shame.
‘Why is he so blunt?! He actually-” Before she could continue thinking, Jared’s deep voice resonated in her ear.
“The key to the safe, Julia.”
Julia let out an odd expression. ‘Oh,‘ she thought. ‘Was it because I was too fast?‘
“Wait a minute,” she said as she reached into her pocket. She then handed the key to him. She had known all along that the man had given her the key to the safe during the day just to put on a show in front of Paul. Although, she hadn’t expected Jared to give it to her.
Also, what she needed wasn‘ t the key. She must get the password.
Jared took the key and went to the cabinet. Then, he started moving it.
‘What is he doing?‘ Julia pondered.
She was well aware that the safe was located behind the wardrobe, but why was Jared moving it right in front of her?
‘Wait a minute!‘
Jared’s words earlier flashed in her mind.
“Let me show you my treasure.‘
So, the treasure Jared was referring to earlier wasn’t what she thought. It was actually—
Julia’s thoughts went to a halt. She watched Jared move the cabinet, revealing the safe behind it.
“That’s it!”
So, he really wanted to show her this.
Julia sighed, suppressing her emotions. She slowly walked toward Jared, pretending to be calm.
“What is this?”
Jared gave Julia a sideways glance and saw the curious expression on her face. He thought that she was playing her part quite well.
All this time, he had been trying to find out Julia’s real intention for marrying him. And without a doubt, all she was after was what was inside the safe.
He wouldn’t pretend that he wasn’t curious why she wanted it. He had to figure it out soon, so

he could keep her by his side for a long time.
“This safe contains all the treasures I collected,” he calmly announced.
“O–Okay,” Julia replied. “But is it okay for you to show me this?”
Jared shrugged. “It’s okay. After all, you‘ re my wife. You can see my treasures.” Without hesitating, he inserted the key into the safe. He looked at Julia.
“You can press the password.”
Julia pointed at herself, a bit shocked. “Pass… password? Me?”
“Yeah. It’s our wedding anniversary.
‘What?‘ Julia blinked repeatedly, unable to process what Jared was trying to convey.
Jared raised a brow when he noticed that she was silent.
“What is it? Did you forget the date?”
“No. No, of course not,” Julia answered nervously. She then stepped closer to the safe. With trembling fingers, she started to press the date of their wedding.
A short beep blared in the room, followed by the opening of the safe.
‘It’s open? Julia thought in amazement. ‘It opened just like that?!‘
Julia’s lips parted as she watched the safe with wide eyes. The entire bedroom was silent as the safe slowly opened.
How could Julia describe what she was feeling? It felt like she was dreaming.
It was so unreal for her.
‘Am I dreaming? Is this just imagination?‘ she thought. She even quietly reached out her thigh and pinched it.
‘Ouch!‘ she inwardly groaned.
She didn’t notice that Jared was watching her actions all the time. He briefly glanced at her movement before looking away.
“Do you want anything from here? I’ll give it to you.”
‘What?‘ She looked at him in disbelief. She was too stunned by his words that she almost thought she was just imagining things.
‘He wants to give it to me?”
‘If so,
that means I had been working for nothing in the past few days?‘
The safe was completely open, revealing everything it had inside in front of Julia.
“I’ll just take a look. I don’t want any treasures,” she told him even though her eyes were already busy scanning the content of the safe.
Jared slowly stood up and took a few steps backward. His dark eyes narrowed at her, staring at her movements closely.
To her disappointment, Julia didn’t see the Small Jade Statue. It was because the treasures inside the safe were sealed in boxes. She needed to open them to see what was inside.
“Uh,” She glanced at him. “Can I open the boxes and take a look?”
Jared shrugged. “No problem,” he casually replied.
Julia nodded without looking at him. She was so focused on the content of the safe. Also, even if
she studied his expression now, she wouldn’t be able to guess his intention.
Julia carefully grabbed the small box and opened it.
Disappointment glistened in her eyes when it wasn’t the statue. She faked a cough and muttered,
“Woah. This bracelet is made of rare jadeite!”
Jared was stunned. ‘She recognized it immediately?‘ Not many could do that. Knowing a high–quality stone at a glance required at least a passion for antique jades.
Based on his investigation, Julia had never had a background in studying or handling antique jades in her family.
“Do you like that one? You can have it.”
“No. I’m just admiring it.” Julia returned the jewelry to the box. She picked up another one. “Oh, this is from Greece, right? The inkstone of the ancient calligraphy master. How did you find such precious treasure?” She didn’t expect he had an inkstone of this quality. She held it up to the light and admired it carefully.
Jared’s eyes turned into slits as he watched her. Now, she even knew where the inkstone came from. In the past, Jared didn’t even dare to confirm that it was from Greece. He had to consult an expert in antique art to make sure that it was an authentic work of the ancient calligraphy master. Meanwhile, Julia recognized it in an instant.
The Watson family was just a small middle–class family. ‘How were they able to raise such a child with great wits and skills?‘
“Do you want it?” Jared asked again.
Julia uttered the same answer. She put down the inkstone and continued to search. She was cautious not to make Jared suspicious of her actions while pretending to admire the treasures.
‘She doesn’t want that either?‘ Jared wasn‘ t in a hurry, though. He continued watching her, still curious about what she was really looking for.
Five minutes later, Julia started to get anxious. She feared that Jared would get impatient and lock the safe again.
‘Where is it?‘ she asked nervously.
On the other hand, Jared noticed that sweat forming on Julia’s forehead. She was able to conceal her feelings well, but Jared had keen eyes and knew that she was getting impatient.
“Take your time, Julia. The night is long, and there is still a lot left. You need to appreciate them slowly.”
Julia closed her eyes and let out a sigh of relief. Now, she didn’t need to panic and take her time finding the statue.
“Yeah. Thank you. I really want to see the others.” She smiled at him before picking up
box.
‘Oh, my goodness.‘ Julia’s eyes brightened. Her hands tightened their grip on the box.
She found it. She found the Little Jade Statue.
‘Is this for real?‘ she thought in amazement.
Curious of her sudden reaction, Jared walked behind her.

He took a glance at the box. The moment he saw what it was, disbelief appeared in his eyes.

‘This is what she had been looking for?‘ he thought.
‘But, why did it have to be this?‘
