Julia turned her head to Henry, her eyes brimming with curiosity and assessment.
Even Maddie had ceased her cries of pain. Her gaze was now fixed on Henry,with a mixture of surprise and confusion in her eyes.
Under the scrutinizing gazes of the two women, Henry belatedly grasped the implications of his words.
“What I meant was that the rough treatment and the unpleasant noises she was making ruined my mood,“he tried to clarify, realizing his previous remark sounded like a plea.
Maddie clenched her teeth in frustration. ‘What an insensitive jerk!‘She fumed internally. “Okay,“Julia said,ceasing her actions and examining Maddie’s expression. Her complexion had noticeably improved, and there seemed to be no significant issue.
Maddie touched her belly and exclaimed,“The pain is really gone!Julia,you’re incredible!Come on,tell me how you became acquainted with the Divine Doctor.When did you become her disciple? I’m dying to know! You’re quite the master of keeping secrets.”
Fortunately, Jared and Conrad had returned by this point,sparing Julia the need to concoct a story once again.
Seeing the two men together, Julia’s eyes nearly popped out of her head as she shifted her gaze between Jared and Conrad. She was intensely curious about their conversation during their time
away.
“Have you…settled things?“she asked, her disbelief evident.
Conrad walked over to Julia and affectionately patted her head before responding, “I wish you all the best and a happy life.”
‘Huh?‘ Julia’s mouth hung open slightly, her expression a mix of bewilderment as she stared at Conrad.
After a momentary pause, her gaze shifted mechanically to Jared. Jared’s demeanor remained unchanged,and he seemed disinclined to add anything further.
As such, Julia’s curiosity intensified. ‘What could they have discussed during their absence?Could my brother have accepted our relationship that quick,that’s why he’s giving us now his blessings?‘
Before long, Julia pushed these thoughts aside,responding with a stammer,“Oh,uh,thank
you.“Her words sounded awkward, mirroring her bewildering thoughts.
Deciding to address this later with Jared, once they were back home, Julia refocused her
attention on the present.
“By the way, Julia, are the two of you living together now?“Conrad inquired.
In the past, Julia would have denied it as always, but not this time. They knew it all now, so there was no longer a need for lies.
“Yeah,“Julia answered honestly.
Conrad had already figured out as much,considering Julia’s reduced presence at Purple Garden Manor lately.
“Then,where are you staying now?“Conrad probed further.
“In the northern suburbs,“Julia responded vaguely.She chose not to mention the Tuscany Villa

Area. Compared to Tuscany,Purple Garden seemed insignificant. If Conrad discovered the locations of the houses Jared owned–more than one–there was no way he would believe Jared was merely an ordinary employee of Brooks Corporation.
“That’s quite far,“Conrad mumbled before looking at Julia.“Why don’t you come back to Purple Garden tonight?Tomorrow is Mom’s death anniversary.We’ll visit her early every morning.”
Julia was about to agree when Jared’s voice interjected.
“Just go there tomorrow morning. I’ll drive you,“Jared asserted.
Even if Jared wouldn’t explain the reason behind his words, Henry had a good grasp of it.It was clear that if Julia went tonight, Jared wouldn’t be able to sleep.
This realization made Henry inwardly shake his head. Tsk!Tsk!Tsk!Is he going to die without Julia?Can’t even last a single night, really? Doesn’t he have any consideration,even on her mother’s death anniversary? Poor Julia.Jared is hopelessly in love with her.”
However,contrary to Henry, Julia appeared oblivious to it as she responded, “You work so tirelessly every day.I don’t want to trouble you. Plus, I don’t really feel like waking up early
tomorrow.”
Given Julia’s firm stance, Jared couldn’t persist any further. ‘It looks like I’m destined for a sleepless night tonight,‘ Jared mused sadly.
After dinner, Julia guided Maddie into Conrad’s car and soon departed.
Near the restaurant’s entrance, Jared was left standing,watching as the car drove away. Henry then joined him, his gaze fixed on the departing vehicle. Later, he asked,“Everyone’s left.What’s there to keep your eyes on?”
However, Jared didn’t respond, his gaze was still in the departing car.
Meanwhile, Julia leaned against the car window,continuing to observe. The man beneath the streetlight cast a stretched silhouette against the darkness,emanating an air of melancholy.
Seeing this, a worry crept into Julia’s thoughts. ‘It’s getting late, and he still hasn’t left. He’s not even dressed warmly. Isn’t he concerned about catching a cold?‘

Not far away, Jared saw the car stop,and Julia stepped out. Seeing this, his eyebrows immediately knitted. ‘Did she forget something at the restaurant?‘He speculated inwardly.

Julia rushed over to Jared and stood in front of him. With a smile,she said, “Let’s go. Let’s head home.”
Happiness seemed to catch Jared off guard, momentarily rendering him absent–minded. But he quickly regained his composure and smiled, reaching for Julia’s hand.“Let’s go home.”
On their way, Julia’s curiosity couldn’t be contained, and she inquired,“By the way,what did you say to my brother?”
“You want to know?“Jared asked, his gaze fixed on Julia, feigning an air of mystery.
“Of course I do.Otherwise,why would I ask?“Julia replied.
“Of course!Otherwise,why would I ask?“Julia retorted.“Sorry. It’s a secret between men.Can’t share it with you,“Jared playfully replied,a fond smile gracing his lips.
Displeased, Julia rolled her eyes and made a disapproving noise, “Tsk!”
Jared just chuckled it out and changed the topic,asking, “What has gotten into you that you came back?”
Taking Jared’s question as an opportunity for payback, Julia raised an eyebrow and echoed his earlier words.saying, “Sorry. It’s a woman’s secret.I can’t tell you.”
In reality, she wasn’t entirely sure of the reason herself. Much of it was likely related to their mission, but there might have been other factors at play as well.
Jared’s indulgent smile deepened upon hearing her response.
Meanwhile, with his mouth agape, Henry watched as Jared and Julia walked away hand in hand. He let out an exaggerated sigh.The sudden display of affection was overwhelming for him, making him nauseous.
“I can’t stand these public displays of affection!It’s like they’re flaunting it in front of me.Mocking me,the perpetually single guy!“Henry grumbled.
‘Just you wait. I’m so amazing that I’ll find a partner in no time,’ he motivated himself. As he thought this, Henry turned his gaze to the departing car Conrad was driving.Suddenly,the memories of Maddie being pressed against the wall earlier came to his mind. He also recalled the events between him and Maddie at the bar that night.
“What am I even thinking?“Henry muttered to himself, giving his head a light tap.
He reminded himself that Maddie would never be a part of any romantic equation in his life.
‘Not that shameless woman!‘He muttered under his breath.
Inside the car, Maddie suddenly sneezed, “Ah–choo!”
Knowing she wasn’t ill, Maddie couldn’t help but wonder, ‘Who’s thinking of me?”
With that thought in mind, Maddie glanced down at her belly and speculated
inwardly, ‘Could it be these three little ones?‘
Then, in a surprise, she sneezed again, “Ah–choo!”
Recalling sneezing myths,where a second sneeze supposedly indicated someone speaking ill of you, Maddie immediately thought of Henry’s mischievous and wicked grin.
‘It must be that bastard!‘ She concluded, her brows knitted.
