Chapter 94: It’s Absolutely Amazing
Changing her clothes, Mae swiftly took a hot shower before settling into bed. However, as she closed her eyes, the image of Mark drenched in blood stood vividly before her mind’s eye, causing her heart to constrict.
“Do you not care about me?” Mae whispered to herself. “Do you really no longer want me anymore?” The questions echoed in her thoughts, leaving her with a tumultuous mix of emotions.
Back when Mark stood before her in such a pitiful state, resembling an abandoned child pleading with the world, Mae found herself revisiting that image despite her reluctance to do so.
She shook her head in frustration as if trying to shake off the haunting memory. “Stop thinking about it, Mae Lee. Just stop.
Clamping down on her thoughts, she clenched her teeth and sternly instructed herself. Angrily pulling the quilt over her head, she curled up tightly in the darkness. After a while, her muffled voice emerged from under the covers, “He was the one who didn’t want me first.”
Mark’s hospital stay lasted only one night before he was discharged. As he entered the office building with an expressionless demeanor, the entire staff of Smith Corporation quivered in fear. The usually stern Big Boss appeared even more intimidating with his unreadable face. His emotionless gaze seemed to see through everything, leaving no detail unnoticed.
What an absolute terror!
The atmosphere was tense, and no one dared to make eye contact with him, especially Robert Sands. Ever since that day when he had innocently suggested sending flowers to the CEO’s wife and was curtly rebuffed, the CEO’s stern glares had terrified him. He felt like he was perpetually teetering on the edge of being scolded or reprimanded.
“CEO, I’ll be stepping out now,” Robert managed to muster the courage to mutter, avoiding his boss’s icy gaze. As he made his way to the door, Mark’s internal line buzzed.
“Court?” Mark’s deep voice resonated, causing Robert to pause. The CEO’s tone sent a shiver down his spine, and he wondered if the call was from the court urging the CEO to take action.
Only the day before yesterday, Secretary Alex had mentioned that the CEO had received a divorce complaint email from the court, which was said to come from his wife’s side.
Could this call be a follow–up to urge Mark to proceed with legal matters?
As this thought crossed his mind, Robert felt his body involuntarily tremble. He hastened his steps out of the CEO’s office, anxious not to be roped into any unwanted tasks.
The court was still mainly focused on mediation regarding the divorce matter. However, upon discovering that Mark was the defendant, there seemed to be an air of caution around handling the
case.
During the call, the court adopted a mild and slightly negotiating tone. “We suggest you attend the court proceedings, Mr. Smith. It would be beneficial for both parties to have a face–to–face discussion and reach an agreement.”
Mark’s response was curt and to the point, “I’ve entrusted all legal matters to my attorney. If you

have any concerns, please communicate with my lawyer.”
Without waiting for further dialogue, Mark hung up the phone. He knew that every word he uttered could impact the case. He understood that even the slightest slip could sway the outcome of the divorce proceedings.
Mae didn’t expect Mark to be present at the court. Instead, she met Mark’s legal counsel, Taylor Weisz, a situation she had already anticipated. She didn’t expect the mediation to go smoothly; in fact, she had no intention of letting it proceed harmoniously.
Mark’s refusal to divorce her showed that he was equally resistant to letting her go. But Mae didn’t want an easy divorce, nor did she want the court to intervene. She anticipated that it would boil down to this point, and she firmly declined the court’s attempt at mediation.
“Madam,” Taylor called out as she left the courtroom.
Mae turned her attention to him, ready to hear what he had to say.
“Madam, with all due respect, given that the CEO is unwilling to proceed with a divorce, it would be in your best interest to reconsider. This situation doesn’t harm you in any way. Please think it over and reconsider your insistence on a divorce.”
Mae gave Taylor a sidelong glance, narrowing her eyes to assess the urban pragmatism radiating from him. Taylor was right in a way; being the CEO’s wife would undoubtedly elevate her status wherever she go. However, outsiders failed to realize that the only thing that could come to mind about this identity for her was the piercing cold and endless irony.
“Thank you for your opinion, Mr. Weisz. However, this matter is between Mark and me. It is something personal, so I advise you to focus on your role as a legal counsel,” Mae replied, a firm edge in her voice, meaning that she doesn’t want anyone to meddle with her business.
Her response clearly signaled that she considered this discussion closed. Taylor, who was perceptive, didn’t fail to catch the underlying meaning of her words. His expression soured, perceiving Mae as stubborn and lacking social finesse.
Many women would covet her position as the wife of the CEO of the Smith family, yet here she was, seemingly determined to divorce him. Taylor found Mae’s attitude off–putting, seeing her as lacking in gratitude.
Mae met Taylor’s gaze, sensing his thoughts. She wasn’t concerned with his judgment; after all, she knew that her stance was unconventional from an outsider’s perspective.
Taking a taxi and heading towards Beyond Technologies to assess the progress of the special effects medicine trial, the ride was interrupted as the driver stopped abruptly.
“What’s going on?” she asked.
“There seems to be a car accident ahead, Ma’am. The road is blocked,” the driver explained.
Mae stepped out of the car and gazed in the direction of the commotion. Sirens blared in the distance, mingling with the sounds of fire engines and the voices of distressed people. Murmurs from the onlookers reached her ears.
“The bus collided with a truck. Many passengers are trapped and can’t get out.” One said.
“Lots of injuries, a lot of bleeding. I heard there is a pregnant woman, six or seven months along.” The other mused.

Run Away From My Heartless Exhusband
There is a pregnant woman?
Those words instantly tugged at Mae’s heartstrings. Perhaps it was because of her own experience as a mother that she felt a special empathy for pregnant women.
Pushing her way through the crowd, Mae approached the scene. The metallic smell of blood hung heavily in the air. Firefighters worked tirelessly to extract passengers from the wrecked bus, while shouts of pain and panic from the injured people rang out repeatedly.
“Has the ambulance arrived? There’s a pregnant woman here, bleeding heavily…”
“Help! Is there a doctor? Help! My wife is bleeding badly, my child… Help, help me please…”
The blood–soaked man knelt by his injured wife, his voice laced with desperation and agony. The anguished pleas struck Mae’s heart like a hammer blow.
Hastening her steps, she crouched beside the pregnant woman and tried to comfort her. “Don’t be scared, I’m a doctor.”
After consoling the husband, Mae turned her attention to the woman, whose face was contorted with pain and paleness. She placed her fingers on the woman’s pulse to assess her condition.
The pregnant woman’s situation was very critical – there is significant blood loss combined with shock. Without swift intervention, the baby’s life hung in the balance.
The six–month–old fetus had already taken shape. Mae couldn’t help but think of her own daughter, shuddering at the thought of the mother’s desperation if her unborn child didn’t survive.
Gripping the pregnant woman’s hand, Mae calmly reassured her, “Stay calm, I’m a doctor. I’ll help you. Take deep breaths, just like me. Mirror me.”
Upon hearing that Mae was a doctor, the pregnant woman visibly relaxed, and she began to take slow, deep breaths in time with Mae’s guidance.
Mae also instructed the husband, “Go to the nearby pharmacy and buy a pack of silver acupuncture needles, hurry!”
“Uh… yes, okay.”
Shaken and bewildered, the husband responded, but his confusion was evident as he stumbled over his words. Though he agreed to go, he seemed unsure about where to start.
