Chapter 83: I Don’t Even Want You Anymore. What Do I Need Your Things for?
She couldn’t act like a fool anymore and continue to dream of something so impossible in her lifetime. She shouldn’t wait for Mark to walk towards her any longer.
Mark looked at the faint mockery on her face and opened his mouth. His hands were hanging at his side, unconsciously clenching a little tighter. “Why don’t you believe me?”
He asked her in return, his voice clouded with a layer of raspiness due to excessive tension.
“You are the woman I’m married to. You are the one registered in my household registration book. Is it strange that I have some attachment to you?”
He questioned her, a raging fire erupting from his eyes, illuminating Mae for a moment.
Was it strange?
It might not be strange when placed on someone else, but when placed on Mark’s personality…
Mae tugged at the corner of her mouth a little bitterly, and her eyes hurt.
This man had left her in his previous life.
At that moment of life and death, he jumped into the sea and ran to another woman without hesitation.
Mae thought that in this existence, after so many years, she had long since begun to not care about that incident, but now she realized that she couldn’t forget it. She still couldn’t take it likely, and every time she thought of that scene, there was a piercing pain.
It was Mark who had broken her heart, torn it apart, and thrown it bloody into the cold sea.
She had used a lifetime to prove that Mark had never been interested in her.
The corners of her eyes gradually turned red, and the moisture that had been squeezed into her eyes was brutally forced back. Her eyes were unblinking as she stared at him. “Mark, you’re not qualified to talk about attachment or affection.”
She laughed a little, slowly moving closer to him. While standing on her tiptoes and crouching at his ear, the heat that had risen under her eyes forced her once again. “It’s too disgustingly fake.”
Having said that, she pulled away from him and was about to leave when he grabbed her wrist. He stared her hard in the eyes. His endless panic suddenly felt like a tide that was slowly spiraling out of control.
He read a deep hatred at the bottom of her originally wavy eyes, a hatred that was ready to push him away from her forever, to push him far away.
And this kind of knowledge made him no longer able to control the panic and uneasiness in his heart. He wanted to hold on to Mae tightly, and the force in his hand increased involuntarily. He was fearing that if he loosened up a bit, Mae would completely leave his side and would no longer be able to hold on to him.
Suddenly he took the exquisite jewelry box out of his suit pocket and opened it in front of Mae. “This… is for you.”
Even his voice trembled slightly. All the so–called dignity from before, all the pride of a luxurious

family patriarch, was gone at that moment.
He stared at Mae’s face, nervous and somewhat expectant.
But Mae just glanced at the necklace. It was worth millions of dollars, exquisitely and beautifully made, and inlaid with diamond chains piled high with money. There was no trace of joy in her dull eyes. She just lifted her eyelids without a ripple and looked at him, smiling.
“This was chosen by Assistant Sands, am I right?”
Mark froze, instinctively wanting to deny it, but Mae once again opened his mouth. “Special Assistant Sands‘ vision has always been good. I’ve always liked the styles he used to pick for me. If it’s no trouble for you, Mr. Smith. Please, thank him on my behalf.”
She didn’t pick it up, and her gaze didn’t linger much on that precious necklace.
“Mae.”
Mark looked at her somewhat powerlessly, hand and foot wanting to defend himself, but after opening his mouth he froze and found it hard to speak. “Although… although it was Robert who picked it out… it was me who instructed him to…”
He couldn’t go on. His cold lips were tightly pursed, suddenly feeling that such a defense seemed powerless and ridiculous.
He looked at Mae but saw that she was not angry, but rather indifferent. “I know, you used to send me quite a few of these things. You’ve been really generous.”
Saying that she couldn’t even help but curl the corners of her mouth and draw a bow.
“I used to accept it because I still wanted you that time, but now…”
The grin on her face intensified. “I don’t even want you anymore. What do I need your stuff for?”
‘I don’t even want you anymore. What do I need your stuff for?‘
These words kept repeating in his head and directly confused Mark. He felt his ears buzzing as if his temples had been punched hard by her. His entire brain went blank.
Even his grip on her hand was unintentionally loosened a little.
Mae took the opportunity to pry her hand out of his and rubbed her reddened wrist. Her tone was so calm that it didn’t have a tiny hint of wavering. “If Mr. Smith really doesn’t want to sign, then we can only go through the legal process.”
It was a good thing she had let Jean go a few days prior to make preparations, and in two days Mark should be able to receive her divorce petition.
Speaking of which, Mae also had a little headache.
Divorce was difficult to get, and with Mark being such a rich and powerful ex–husband, it would be very difficult for the court to decide quickly.
She turned and walked towards Aaron without looking back at Mark, not noticing the panic and helplessness that showed in his always cool eyes the moment she turned around. –
On the contrary, it was Aaron who was slightly surprised to see this always arrogant man standing helplessly in the same place. He was like a child who had done something wrong and didn’t know what to do. Aaron raised his eyebrows a little.

“Did you talk about it?”
“Uh–huh.”
Mae replied weakly, with some disinterest in his tone.
Sitting in Aaron’s car, Mae quietly looked out the window without saying anything. After all, Mark’s existence still slightly affected her, making some of her dusty memories come back involuntarily.
In the end, she overestimated herself. She was always thinking that she could easily let go of Mark, let go of the old things, but now she realized that there were some things that, once she remembered them, she still realized how she hated Mark.
Aaron saw that she was in a bad mood and didn’t ask her more about what had happened between her and Mark, but he just thought of something. He glanced sideways at Mae and hesitantly opened
his mouth to ask:
“For the Phase 1 clinical trial, do you need Smith’s side to participate?”
Hearing this, Mae’s attention was drawn back from the outside, her stunning features were a little more repulsive at the moment. “If you don’t need Smith’s participation, would it be difficult?”
“I don’t expect you to do it with him, but if there would be Smith’s participation, it will be more convenient, and the time will be relatively shorter.”
Mae didn’t answer Aaron right away, instead, she slightly closed her eyes and leaned on the back of her chair, thinking for a long time before she said, “This project doesn’t need Smith’s participation. I’ll solve any difficulties myself.
Hearing her words, Aaron was not surprised.
Even though her words sounded somewhat conceited, Aaron inexplicably felt that she could do it.
There was a certain ability in this woman that he hadn’t seen before, but it was incredibly convincing.
