Chapter 63 I Was Wrong
Robert, instantly felt that his suck–up was a failure.
“Sir, I was wrong.”
He immediately straightened up and admitted his mistake, but Mark didn’t want to hear it anymore. “Get out of here!”
“Alright!”
Robert rolled away, feeling more and more in his heart that his moody boss was difficult to handle.
Okay, you don’t want to worry about that ex–wife, right?
If you truly possess bravery, then follow through and process the divorce paperwork with her. Go ahead and do it!!!!
Robert cursed loudly in his heart, but he could only be incompetent and furious.
Mark looked at the closed office door. His gloomy face was now even more frosty.
In his mind, Mae’s determined expression flashed through his mind, and a cold snort came from the corner of his mouth.
Didn’t she despise him?
He didn’t care about her, who would care about a woman who didn’t know what to do!
Suppressing the growing irritation in his heart, he tugged at the collar in front of his shirt and continued to flip through the documents in front of him.
In front of him, there were all the scenes of the Lee family breaking into Mae’s ward to make trouble
as Robert had told him.
He pressed the inside line, “Get me all of Mae’s recent activities.”
As night fell, the city streets lined with high–rise buildings were lit up one after another. The cold night enveloped the noisy night sky of the bustling city.
The low–key and luxurious Maybach slowly drove on the road. The dim lights in the back seat of the
car covered the man’s cold face.
After a while, the driver heard the man say, “Go to the city hospital.”
“Miss Lee, it’s cold outside. You should go back to the ward.”
On the lawn behind the VIP hospital building, Mae sat on a bench wearing a thick beige down jacket.
This building was exclusively for VIP patients.
“Yeah, I’ll go back after a while.”
Mae smiled at the nurse, but sat on the bench and did not move.
After dinner, she sent Jean away. She actually didn’t want to stay in the ward. She hated the depressed feeling in the ward.
Even if the ward she was living in was comparable to a luxurious VIP suite, it still made her feel
uncomfortable.
As long as she stayed inside, it would remind her of those years when her mother was sick and hospitalized.
The smell of potion and grief filled the room, like a nightmare, surrounding her ears.
For a while, as long as she smelled the medicine, she would instinctively feel fear. If she was not afraid of the little guy’s worries, she did not want to stay in the hospital at all.
Winter nights, without the sun’s rays, were much colder than the daytime.
She tightened the down jacket that Jean had prepared for her, stood up and walked to the nearby cafeteria that provided tea for the VIP ward.
The waiter was not there. There was a self–service tea machine by the bar. She took a cup and placed it at the outlet of the coffee machine. She ordered a cup of hot black coffee.
The cup was filled with steaming coffee. Just as she was about to stand up, her sharp–boned hand landed on the coffee cup, one step ahead of her.
She frowned and raised her eyes. “Excuse me sir, this is my…”
Before she could finish her sentence, when she met those deep and dissatisfied eyes, they got stuck
in her throat.
Mark Smith.
Why was he here again?
Mae frowned, his eyes filled with repulsion.
Mark smirked when he saw it.
He shouldn’t have come over here to look at her like she rejected and resented him.
“Mr. Smith, this is mine.”
Suppressing the turmoil in his heart, Mae looked at Mark and said calmly.
Mark was also looking at her. His dark eyes were not clear. He said, “Drinking black coffee so late at night, why? Is there something that requires staying up late?”
There was a hint of mockery in his cold tone, but Mae didn’t care.
She had no interest in arguing with Mark. She took the glass again and planned to take another. However, before her finger touched the order screen, his long finger took a step forward and clicked
the “Hot Milk” button.
Bringing the warm milk into the cup, Mae frowned, “Mr. Smith, I don’t like milk.”
“You like it.”
His domineering tone was undeniable.
He picked up the milk and handed it to her, “The temperature is just right.”
Mae was annoyed and wanted to pour milk over his head, but in the end, she gave up.
Her hands were cold, and the temperature of the milk cup made her feel warmer. She lowered her head and took a sip of milk.
The smell of milk filled her mouth, causing her to frown involuntarily.
She had never liked to drink dairy products. She liked the bitter taste of black coffee, which stimulated every cell to become active.
But Mark didn’t like her drinking coffee. In the past, whenever he saw her drinking coffee, he would stop her.
Several times, she couldn’t help but question him why he could drink but she couldn’t.
He said to her domineeringly and concisely that he needed it and she didn’t, that’s all.
She did not want to make him unhappy, so she slowly gave up on coffee. Just now, she wanted to drink on a whim, but she did not expect to be seen by Mark again.
What a sinful fate.
She put the milk aside and did not order any more coffee. She turned around and walked out of the cafeteria, preparing to return to the ward.
Mark put the coffee aside and followed, and asked casually,
“I heard that the Lee family came to see you today?”
Mae’s nonchalant tone sounded like she was watching a drama.
She did not know how Mark knew about this, and she was not interested in asking.
“For Mr. Smith’s 10 billion’s sake.”
He smiled. “Since the 10 billion is a burden, why don’t you give it back to me?”
She stopped and looked up at him. She didn’t know if he was joking or was serious, so she coldly said, “It’s already been donated.”
Mark was stunned for a moment. He did not ask if what she said was true or false. He said, “So generous.”
Mae did not answer and continued to walk towards the ward. Suddenly, her phone rang.
She opened it to take a look. It was Aaron Foster.
She immediately picked it up, her cold expression turning into a soft smile, “Mr. Foster.”
On the other end of the phone, Aaron’s warm voice came. She listened and informed him,
“It’s alright, I’ll be discharged from the hospital soon. Thank you, Mr. Foster for your concern. Okay, I’ll see you tomorrow.”
After speaking with Aaron, she hung up the phone and did not notice the sudden sinking expression on Mark’s face.
Mark looked at Mae’s smile that had not yet faded away, and compared to the indifference she showed when she faced him, he felt a little uncomfortable in his heart.
