Bun Away Emm
Chapter 45: Did the President Gain His Emotional Intelligence by Trading His IQ?
He instinctively reached out to grab Mae’s hand, but his grip closed around empty air. He could only watch as she turned and walked away.
The disheveled pain seemed to be soaked in poison, still corroding his limbs and every bone, infiltrating his blood and every cell in his body. The pain left him standing numbly in place, unable to
move.
Mr. Sands stood silently beside him, never having seen such a helpless expression on his boss’s face. It was as if his boss had turned into a lost child, standing in the midst of a storm, unsure of where to go.
For a moment, Mr. Sands realized that even the usually invincible CEO had moments of vulnerability. He suddenly felt a pang of pity for his boss, but then he quickly reminded himself that his boss brought this upon himself.
If he cared so much, why did he have to push things to this point just to save face?
Mr. Sands sighed internally and stepped forward to face Mark. In a low voice, he said, “Mr. Smith, how about… you go back for now? Madam seems to be angry. Maybe give her some time to cool off before you talk to her again?”
Mr. Sands was well aware that his words were merely a form of comfort. If Madam were to truly calm down, after four years, she should have calmed down by now. It’s unlikely that her attitude will still be as strong as it is now.
The path of wooing his wife that Mr Smith was taking was becoming no different from heading to a funeral procession.
After Mr. Sands finished speaking, a few seconds later, he noticed Mr. Smith suddenly looking at him. The sharp and shrewd eyes that used to dominate were now filled with perplexing confusion.
Nervously, Mr. Sands called out, “Mr. Smith?”
Mark remained silent, his confused eyes still holding traces of bewilderment. Just when Mr. Sands thought that Mr. Smith wouldn’t respond to him, he heard him ask, “Have I treated her badly?”
Mr. Sands: “…”
How was he supposed to answer this?
If he said “badly,” it wouldn’t really be accurate. Every time Mr Smith returned from a business trip, he would have Mr. Sands pick out a valuable gift to send to Madam. Each gift was extravagant.
But if he said “well,” it wasn’t entirely true either. Besides giving gifts, there wasn’t much evidence of Mr Smith being good to Madam. And the act of giving gifts, for a CEO as wealthy as him, was quite a simple matter
Yet, he had callously forced Madam to terminate her pregnancy, and that… speaking bluntly, was inhumane, wasn’t it?
“Can’t come up with an answer?”
Seeing Mr. Sands conflicted expression and his lips tightly sealed in a knot, Mark already had a clear understanding of the situation.

“Do you also think I’ve treated her poorly?” He asked in a hushed voice.
Mr. Sands: “…”
How could he admit to that? It’s not like he had a death wish.
“Mr. Smith, I can’t say for certain about this matter, but if you genuinely have feelings for Madam. well, you could take it slow. Madam loves you so much. If you can show her your sincerity, she will eventually have a change of heart,” Mr. Sands offered consoling words, even though he had no confidence in them.
“Do you truly believe she still loves me?” Mark pressed.
Mr. Sands: “…”
After all that I’ve said, that’s the only part you heard?
Could you please be a bit more awake?
You’ve even coerced her into terminating the pregnancy, and you expect her to love you???
Did the President’s intelligence come from trading his smarts for emotional intelligence?
Ugh, nothing seems to be right!
Although he had these thoughts, as a competent assistant, he couldn’t easily shatter his boss’s morale. So, he put on a serious expression and said:
“Of course, haven’t you forgotten how Madam used to send you those heartfelt meals she cooked herself every day? Don’t just take it from us bystanders, Mr. Smith. Experience it firsthand. Isn’t Madam deeply in love with you?”
