Chapter 158 Not Good to Like Someone
“Well, I just arrived. Is it over on your side?”
“Yes, I’m ready to go back too.”
Aaron’s tone was as usual, but she could faintly hear that he was about to say something but stopped.
“Is there anything else you want to say?”
She asked straight to the point.
On the other end of the phone, after a few seconds of silence, he asked, “Mae, are you really, okay?”
Aaron took a taxi and left after Mae was picked up by the driver.
The reason why he did not force her to stay or let her ride with him was because he did not want to disturb her.
She probably wasn’t having a good time tonight.
When he followed Mae out of the banquet, he saw that Mark had given her the string of Hydras.
Although she refused without hesitation, he felt that Mark’s words and deeds tonight must have affected her.
Mae was stunned when he heard him ask. She fully understood what Aaron was worried about, and then smiled:
“It’s really fine.”
Aaron did not ask any further questions, he just said:
“Okay, if you’re in a bad mood, you can talk to me. I’m a good listener.”
Mae nodded, “Okay, if there’s anything else, I’ll look for you. Just don’t think that I’m annoying.”
“No.”
After hanging up, Aaron stood in front of the French window.
“Why are you looking for me again in the middle of the night?”
Robb Blake looked at the tired and bloodshot man in front of him, helpless and disgusted.
Mark just passed by him and walked directly to the living room sofa to sit down.
Robb sat on the opposite side of him and looked at his dark blue eyes. He said helplessly:
“You can’t do this like this. If you continue, your life will be detained here forever.”
Robb frowned and looked worried.
“I’ve been having a weird dream lately…”
Mark spoke slowly. His hoarse voice was filled with exhaustion. “It’s clear that something has never happened, but it’s too real. It’s as if I’ve experienced it myself”
Seeing that Mark was finally willing to speak, Robb Blake heaved a sigh of relief and asked, “What
kind of dream?”
“I dreamed that Mae Lee fell into the sea…”
He told Robb about that weird and real dream.
“You mean you didn’t save Mae in your dream, but that Jennifer instead?”
Mark was silent for two seconds, then nodded.
“You don’t really have an affair with that Jennifer, do you? It’s said that every day you think about it, you have a dream every night. Otherwise, why would you dream that you would leave Mae and go to Jennifer instead?”
Robb’s casual and playful tone successfully attracted Mark’s cold gaze.
“Okay, I’m not kidding anymore.”
Robb raised his hand acting as if he surrendered. Then, he said sternly, “Perhaps it’s because you feel that you owe something towards the real Mae, that you have such a weird dream.“..
Mark did not say anything. As long as he thought about that dream, thinking that he had lost Mae forever in the dream, his internal organs would be torn apart in pain, and the feeling of suffocation was still clear even in the dream.
“Actually, have you ever thought about whether you really like Mae, or something stronger than that?” Robb asked straight to the point.
He had known Mark for more than ten years. As a good friend and a psychiatrist, he knew what kind of person he was.
He was naturally cold and indifferent, and he’s not particularly enthusiastic about anyone. He realized that some people may be naturally weaker than others in terms of emotions.
So, maybe, he liked Mae, but he did not realize that he had always used his self–righteous reason to solve all problems.
It was very rare for Mark not to deny his words. Such silence was actually the most obvious answer.
Yes, he likes Mae, he thought.
Therefore, he slowly realized that it was not good to like someone.
He had always arranged his life clearly, including marrying Mae.
A considerate and obedient woman who just happened to make him not reject her. She was just right to be his wife. She would not cause him trouble or let him spend too much energy on her.
There’s no doubt that the marriage between him and Mae was harmonious and they blend well with each other. Not until he realized that the so–called harmony between them was actually because Mae had always been the one giving in and was compliant towards him.
He thought that the two of them could live like this for the rest of their lives, but he did not expect that Mae, whom he thought would save his heart, became the only special person in his originally boring life.
He would think about how to curry favor with her, what she likes, and what would make her happy.
After thinking about it too much, no matter how stupid people were, he knew exactly what they were

thinking about Mae.
“I originally wanted to give Mae a gift that I had promised her for a long time. I thought she would be happy.”
Mark spoke slowly, and then let out a faint wry smile, “She refused, she refused completely.”
What you liked before may not be the same thing you liked now…
Mae refused very respectfully. She was not aware that because of what she said, his confidence that was already at stake was once again shattered.
“So… are you sad?”
Am I sad?
Not really.
Mark thought to himself, but did not return to the question of Robb, “What should I do to get her to agree to come back to me?”
Robbery?
Intimidation?
Maybe this could really achieve his goal, but he knew very well that it would only drove Mae even
further.
Robb raised his eyes and looked at Mark. “You just admitted it to me like that. It looks like you really like Mae.”
He did not deny it.
Robb changed her posture. “Women are naturally soft–hearted animals. Maybe, you can try the bitter trick?”
Mark smiled and laughed at himself.
Maybe she would be soft–hearted too, but it wouldn’t be the case towards him.
He hit his head and stood up. Thinking back then, she just sent him to the hospital out of humanitarianism. He didn’t even bother to wait for her to wake up and just leave.
Now he can tell, he was nothing to Mae.
Robb looked at his face full of self–deprecation and bitterness, and said angrily:
“Are you for real? You’ve used all the tricks to deal with others in the market, but you can’t think of a useful way to bring your ex–wife back?”
Robb was a psychiatrist himself, but at the same time, he was single.
He hadn’t been in a serious relationship before, and he couldn’t give any suitable advice to help them chase a woman, especially… That woman was his ex–wife who had given up on him.
