Chapter 1
On a luxurious cruise ship carrying hundreds of people, the sea breeze brushed by, bringing a hint of coolness to the muggy summer night.
“Mae Lee, do you have any shame left? You are nothing more than a chicken that can’t lay eggs. Mark has been considerate, which is why he hasn’t divorced you yet. But you should have some self–awareness too. Do you want to monopolize the position of the young Mrs Smith forever and let Smith’s family line end?”
The harsh and cruel words pierced Mae’s ears through the night wind, carrying a hint of arrogance and satisfaction, shattering the brief tranquility at sea.
Mae couldn’t help but frown, and the voice continued:
“At this point, can’t you see who Mark really cares about in his heart?”
Mae lifted her head, her cold gaze locked onto the self–satisfied woman in front of her, as the cutting words continued to erode her ears, making her cheeks turn pale.
“Since you are so clueless, let me make it clear to you.”
With these words, two “plop” sounds followed, and Mae was suddenly pushed into the sea by Jennifer without any warning.
“Help… Help me…”
“Help, someone, help…”
Amidst the cries for help, chaos ensued, disturbing the tranquil night at sea.
“Quick, someone come! Madam Lee and Miss Bleak fell into the sea!”
“Help, someone fell into the sea!”
Mae was afraid of water, a childhood trauma that haunted her. Now, in the vast ocean, she struggled desperately for help. The freezing seawater kept pouring into her nose and mouth.
In the daze, she saw the man’s panicked face running out of the cabin, his usual calm and composure nowhere to be seen. He rushed towards the deck, without any hesitation, jumped into the sea. But…
He swam in another direction, towards Jennifer Bleak.
Mark Smith…
She silently repeated the name in her heart.
In the end, he made her see through this pathetic marriage, see through her ridiculous attachment to it. This time, Jennifer truly helped her see it clearly.
The heartless sea engulfed her bit by bit. She saw Mark looking in her direction, but the distance was too far for her to see the expression on his face. However… it should be a relief after getting rid of her, she thought.
Chapter 7
“If you don’t abort this child, we’ll get a divorce.”
As Mae just woke up, she heard the cold and chilling voice of a man, firm and unyielding, passing by
her ear.
As her consciousness cleared, she found herself sitting on a hospital bed, with Mark sitting beside her. His cold eyes and expression, as deep as black ink, showed no emotion. It was as if the child he was talking about aborting was just an inconsequential ant.
At this moment, Mae’s mind was still somewhat confused. She clearly drowned after being pushed into the sea by Jennifer. How could it be…
And Mark’s words, weren’t these the same words he said a year ago when she discovered her pregnancy, asking her to abort the child?
Seeing her remain silent and unresponsive, Mark furrowed his brows slightly, showing impatience
He said:
“I have already arranged the doctor and the operation time. Rest assured.
With that, he got up and left.

The sound of the door closing brought Mae back to her senses. Looking at the familiar surroundings and Mark’s familiar words, she suddenly realized something.
