Neil grinned and said, “Really? How come I’ve never noticed you have such a problem before?”
“Did you ever bother to get to know me before?” Suddenly, I found my backbone and glared at Neil defiantly.

I thought of the man who hit me with the stick and asked, “Did you call the police? About me getting beaten up.”

The spoon nearly slipped from my hand, but I didn’t turn my head for fear of aggravating my injury. Instead, I widened my eyes and asked him, “Why?”
“The guy who beat you up today, Kent Tueley, is the brother of Ada’s husband. It’s not appropriate for her to continue working at our place.” Neil explained slowly.
A chill ran down my spine. Did Neil already know that Ada was Bonnie’s mother?
If he had looked into Kent, he surely would’ve checked out Bonnie’s family, too. It wouldn’t be hard to figure out who Ada was.
I had initially wanted Ada to stay at our place a bit longer, but since Neil had already made up his mind, I let it be.
“Alright, I get it.” I calmed down and continued eating.
As I was eating, I kept sneaking glances at Neil. He knew that Ada was our nanny, but did he never suspect that I actually knew Bonnie?
