Neil looked at me all puzzled, then suddenly his face darkened and he just walked away.

I used to be nice to Chloe. I thought it wasn’t easy for her to love Russel so much while he didn’t love her at all. But after I found out she had hurt me, I had no reason to be nice to her anymore.
Chloe was surprised by my change in attitude and awkwardly asked, “Yes, we’re not close, but we can still chat, right? You know, if it weren’t for Russel, I wouldn’t bother you.”
“You’re engaged to Russel, so you’re his future wife; why do you need me?” I asked back, puzzled.
On hearing this, Chloe’s face changed instantly “Ms. Finch, can you help me? Russel wants to break off our engagement.”
I was taken aback but quickly regained my composure. Russel had mentioned this to me before, I just didn’t think he would really do it.

I was beyond peeved. “Ms. Reynolds, I reckon you should sort this out with Russel, not me. I’m done with him, and I am not getting involved in your mess. So, kindly stop bugging me.’ I said, my tone icy cold.
I knew if I kept sticking my nose in their business, one day Chloe might come at me again out of jealousy.
Chloe looked super awkward, her eyes were brimming with tears. ‘Ms. Finch, I’m head over heels for Russel, so I want to stand by him, but he’s still hung up on you. I’m out of options except for coming to you.”
I was about to respond when, out of the corner of my eye, I spotted Russel in the distance. He looked stone-cold, and when he glanced at Chloe, his eyes were filled with sheer hatred.
I realized he was nothing like the Russel I knew. It felt like he was a total stranger to me.
