I didn’t know how to respond, I just felt my head getting hot and my body feeling all warm and fuzzy.
My voice was shaking a bit, “How should I… take responsibility…”
“Well, when you’re with me, try not to be so stubborn. Don’t make me feel like a criminal every time we get intimate,” Neil said, his voice filled with frustration.
I disagreed a bit, “It wasn’t like this the first few times, was it?”

I was hesitant at first, but now that Neil had said so, I felt more at ease, I decided to follow his plan.
I fell asleep unwittingly. Because I was still worried about my mom, I woke up after only a few hours.
Neil was still asleep. I carefully got out of bed, changed my clothes, and quickly returned to the house next door.
My mom was awake. Seeing me, she asked with some confusion, “Rena, are you not going to the office today?”
“I’ll have breakfast first before going.” I replied.

I nodded and hurried downstairs to make breakfast. At the same time, I called Hannah. I planned to have her take care of my mom for a while. I didn’t trust anyone else.
Hannah agreed. I let out a sigh of relief, then said, “Okay, I’ll have Bailey pick you up. Don’t mention my dad or Neil in front of my mom, and don’t let her look at her phone. She can watch TV.”

Once I had arranged breakfast for my mom, I drove to the office. As I passed the house next door, Neil was coming out. We exchanged a silent glance, but did not speak.
At the office, representatives from FarHorizon Group paid a visit. Ethan seemed very eager to work with me.

“Ms. Finch, these are your flowers.” Near the end of the work day, my assistant came in holding a large bouquet of fiery red roses.
“My flowers?” I was a bit taken aback as I looked at the massive bouquet.
“Yes, someone sent them. They’re for you, my assistant said with a grin. “Probably from an admirer. Today is Valentine’s Day, hence the
roses,”
Today is Valentine’s Day? I hadn’t really paid attention to that. After my assistant left, I stared at the bouquet, a bit dazed.
I found a card in it, but there was no name on the card.
Twas going to throw the bouquet away because I didn’t know who sent it, but looking at the beautiful petals, I thought it would be a
waste. I decided to take it home and use it for a bath.
When I got home, Hannah was already there. She had cooked a simple meal, and Bailey was helping set the table.
“You are home!” Hannah exclaimed happily when she saw me.
Bailey, as usual, called out, “Ms. Finch.”
I put down the flowers in my hand and found it odd to see the harmony between the two.
“Did Neil’s parents say anything when you came over today?” I asked Hannah.
“Mr. Whitmore returned to Springvale today, only Mrs. Whitmore stayed in Rosemont. She didn’t object when she heard I was coming over, she told me to take good care of you, Hannah replied.
Ryan went back to Springvale? That made sense, the company there needed someone to manage it.
I didn’t expect Faith to choose to stay here.
Hannah then noticed the roses and came over to whisper, “Ms. Finch, did Mr. Whitmore send these?”
I immediately denied it, “No, I’ve moved out of Sterling Estates and he’s back with Bonnie. There’s no way he would’ve sent these.”
Hannah laughed, “I think Mr. Whitmore still likes you, he’s just upset with you”
I felt awkward. Hannah’s eyes were really sharp. It was a shame she married such a terrible man.
I quickly changed the subject, “Hannah, what do you think about us going to pick up your parents in the next few days?”
“Ms. Finch, my parents said they don’t want to cause me any trouble. My husband went to bother them, but they’ve already called the police. He shouldn’t dare to bother them again for a while, Hannah said, sounding a bit downcast
“Let’s go anyway. I’ll need your help here taking care of my mom in the coming days. I’m worried you’ll be anxious if your parents aren’t around,” I made the decision for Hannah.
Hannah seemed to want to say something but ended up nodding.
After dinner, I went to check on my mom. Hannah was giving her a massage and they were having
felt relieved and took my flowers to the bathroom for a soak in the tub.
I was just picking off the petals and sprinkling them into the bath when Neil’s call came in.

I was taken aback, a bit bamboozled. I looked down at the bath full of petals and the stripped stem, not sure how to respond.
‘Did you send them? I finally got the words out after a beat.
“What?” Neil was clearly surprised too. After a couple of seconds, he said, “Yeah, I did. I ordered them from abroad a week ago. Do you
like them?”
So they were ordered from abroad? I know a thing or two about luxury stuff, but I really didn’t notice these flowers.
