“Yep, can you drop me home now?” I replied, sitting on the bed

Before I could say anything, he scooped me up in his arms. The maid, seeing this, left the master bedroom with a sly grin.
I sighed inwardly. Things were getting more complicated.
The dining room was laid out with an extravagant dinner, but it was too late, and I couldn’t eat much.

“Thanks for today,” I said, expressing my gratitude again, “I always try not to bother you, but you’ve been a great help. Let’s just say we’re helping each other out.”

I quietly ate my food, pondering over Neils help and if it could compensate for the past hurt. I felt like a school kid just learning math, constantly calculating in my head, even while eating
After dinner, I asked to be dropped home again. This time, Nel didn’t refuse, but he looked pissed as he carried me out the door “Boom!”
Just as we stepped out, a thunderclap rang out in the night sky lighting up everything with a lightning flash. It scared me.
Then the heavens opened up, and rain poured down. The sound of raindrops on the plants and gravel path was pleasant
Neil paused, looking down at me.
I just stared back at him, speechless.
After a while, he asked, “Afraid of lightning?”

Then he picked up a book from the bedside table and started reading, Totally at ease.
I was upset but couldn’t bring myself to get out of the bed and go to the guest room. Neil knew I was having trouble moving, but he was deliberately doing this.
I pulled the covers over me and was about to close my eyes when Neil showed me the book he was reading. I squinted at it, and then my eyes popped

This wasnt a book, it was my diary from years ago!
I had written diaries and love letters for Neil, but some of them I didn’t remember where I put, I thought if Nell found them, he’d throw them away, so i didn’t take them with me.
But Neil not only didn’t throw it away when he found it, but he also used it as a bedtime book.
“Give it back!” I felt my face burning as I reached out to snatch the diary from him.
“Everything you left behind when we divorced, I assumed you left for me. It’s mine now,” Neil quickly pulled back his hand out of my reach
